Keeping the Christian

Family Together

The
Manifold
Grace of

GOD

Pastor Frederick K. Price Jr.

As believers, we know the saving grace of God, but rarely do we tap into
the manifold grace available to us as Christians, thus limiting our heavenly
Fathers grace to just salvation. The saving aspect of His grace is what
ushers us into the family and Kingdom of God. Once we are one with the
Father, through His Son Jesus, we have other facets of Gods grace we can
access and that we are going to need to access in our life.
In this lesson, Pastor Frederick K. Price teaches on the importance of
being good stewards over the manifold grace of God, as well as:

What is the manifold grace of God?

The difference between the manifold grace of God and the Grace of God
How does the manifold grace apply to our lives as believers?
What it means to stand in the grace of God.

In the Ever Increasing Faith magazine this year, we

have been talking about the Christian family. Its an
important subject because God created the family with
a purpose in mind. The whole plan of God for mankind
is centered around the family. Remove the family and
you take away the foundation of the purpose of God for
establishing the human race.
God established the home, the family and marriage.
His power works best through the relationship that
functions the closest to the terms on which He designed
it to function. But, the family is Satans targeted area. We
see this in the Garden of Eden when he tried to drive a
wedge between Adam and Eve. If Satan could do away
with the family, then he would pretty much have society
in the palm of his hand.
This is why I teach about the importance of keeping
the family intact, being strong parents who love God and
are teaching their children the principles of Gods Word.
Satan cant attack what is fortified against him. So strive
to keep your family fortified.
Because God intended man to be His family, the
family unit is very important to God. The first four books
of the New Testament mirror the early life of the Lord
Jesus Christ. It is interesting to note that whenever Jesus
talked about God, it was not in a judicial way. He always
talked about God as Father.
God in interested in family. Hes especially interested
in your family. If you are a believer, never doubt that God
can work through your
family. Keep praying
and living for Him and
watch what He can do
through you.

If you are not

a Christian and
would like to
become one, pray
the following
prayer:
Dear God in Heaven,
Thank you for sending
your Son Jesus Christ
to destroy the power of
Satan over my life. I accept
Jesus now as my personal
Savior and Lord, and I choose
to turn away from the sins of
my past to a renewed life in
Jesus.
You said that if I would
confess with my mouth the
Lord Jesus and believe in my
heart that you raised Him
from the dead, that I would
be saved. I believe Jesus died
for my sins and that you
raised Him from the dead for
my benefit. Heavenly Father,
I thank you for the gift of
salvation and for accepting
me now as your child.
In Jesus name, Amen

prayer, please let us know by

Family:

Your Greatest Asset

By Apostle Frederick K.C. Price

EIF MAGAZINE | VOL. 11 Issue 4 2014

nity in the
family of God
is of utmost
importance to our heavenly Father. His hearts
desire is that we be one,
love each other, encourage each other, fellowship, and that we come to
each others aid. By doing
these things, we become
a stronger, more powerful
entity in this earth realm.
Only through unity can we
rule, reign, and advance in
the will of God.
One thing that is intimately
connected to this idea of unity is
the fact that as the minister and
his family go, so goes the church.
The minister and his family should
be a replica of the body of Christ,
with Jesus as the head and all of
us as family members in the body
of Christ. Spiritually speaking, if
the pastor does not have his life
together it is going to show up in
his ministry. He cannot suppress
it. It is going to leak out and his
congregation is going to become a
reflection of whatever he really is.
When there is dissension,
hard feelings, envy, selfishness,
a struggle for power and all other
manner of evil within the Christian
family, God cannot operate as
He would like to in that family or
congregation. God cannot manifest

His works through a Body that is

filled with garbage! The flow of
His Word is thwarted, and many
lives are lost to sin, sickness, and
poverty lives controlled by Satan.
Recently, I dealt with ministers,
stalwart men in the things of God,
who have taken a misstep and
faltered in their outward progress.
The fact that these ministers
faltered has in turn, adversely
affected people in their respective
churches. Ministers of the Gospel
cannot afford to play games, yet I
know too many ministers who are
doing just that.
Ministers especially have a
tremendous responsibility to walk
by the Word, not by what the world
allows. They represent God and
Jesus and have a mandate from God
to be what they preach. Christians
ought to be so transparent that the
world can look right through them.
Too many ministers are playing

roles, much like an actor. These
preachers need to realize that they
are not involved in a movie screen
test. They are in the real world.
EIF MAGAZINE | VOL. 11 ISSUE 4 2014

Part of living in the real

world is being cognizant of the
fact that all of us ministers and
laypeople alike are supposed
to be examples to the world on
how to live. We are supposed
to let our light shine before
men (Matthew 5:16). The Body
of Christ is a model for how
our individual families should
operate.
The Christian family

Christians, do not have

to follow the ways of the
world because we have
the Word of God.
should set the standard for families
in general. The lifestyle of our
families should not mimic the world,
but rather the family of God.
Likewise, no book other than
the Bible can adequately instruct
a man or woman how to be a good
spouse or a good parent. For the
most part, people are just jumping
into life not knowing if they will sink
or swim. Unfortunately, too many
people sink. But Christians, do not
have to sink. Christians, do not
have to follow the ways of the world
because we have the Word of God.
Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians
10:13 that no temptation has
overtaken us except such as is
common to man. Nearly all of us
have lived in families. Chances are
that most of us will marry and raise
families of our own. And, all of us
will certainly be tempted.
The fact of the matter is that
we are in a spiritual warfare. We

EIF MAGAZINE | VOL. 11 ISSUE 4 2014

have a relentless enemy who is out

to destroy the body of Christ. All
Satan has to do is destroy the man
in the pulpit, and then he has those
in the pew. I know of churches right
now where the congregations are
failing because the pastor is failing.
Ministers, you do not have to
sink not if you let the Word of
God be the final authority in your
household. Remember, God would
not call you to the ministry to
neglect your first ministry, which is
your family. If it does not work at
home, then forget it; it is not going
to work in the pulpit.
Satan is devouring many
Christian families because we are
not practicing what we profess to
believe. Many ministers do not
personally apply the Word of God
that they teach. How sad! They
counsel others, but do not take
their own counsel. The result is
that their households are being
destroyed while they are saving the
world, and that should not be. I
encourage all Christians to take a
personal assessment of their own
homes and make the necessary
changes now! -EIF

The Christian
Family
In this classic, timeless teaching series, Apostle Frederick
K. C. Price proves through the scriptures that marriage is
a divine ordinance, blessed and established by God and
embodied in the union of a man and woman. He gives
instruction from the Word of God on how a husband and
wife are to love one another, how the children are to regard
their parents and how to raise children in the way that they
should go. When the Christian applies these principles to his
or her life, their marriage union truly becomes one of holy
matrimony, the children being in subjection with all gravity.
Apostle Price also speaks to different problem areas he has
come across through years of ministry and offers practical
advice on how to resolve them.

God
Fearing
People

In order to live a blessed and godly lifestyle we must first learn to fear
the Lord. In fact, the Word of God says in Psalms 112:1, Blessed is
the man who fears the Lord . . .
Fear in this case isnt negative. It means a holy reverence for our
heavenly Father. When we fear God it means we worship Him in
obedience to His Word.
In life, circumstances may not always go how we plan, which is why
we must commit ourselves to His Word and meditate on it day and
night. When we delight ourselves in His Word, it will lead us to living
the victorious, overcoming life.
In this teaching, Dr. Betty R. Price, instructs us on how to live a Godfearing lifestyle, as well as how to:

Be wholeheartedly for God.

Be what God called us to be.
Be committed to His Word.
Be a temple of God and live a holy life.

The Truth About

By Robert E. Bolden

September 30, 2014, was the first time that

doctors diagnosed a case of the Ebola virus in a
U.S. patient, the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention confirms. This is by far the largest and
deadliest outbreak of Ebola since the disease was
first identified in 1976. More people have died in
the last six months than in all other Ebola outbreaks
combined. The CDC says as many as 1.4 million
people could be infected by January unless more is
done to stop it.
The source of the Ebola virus remains unknown.
However, on the basis of evidence and the nature of similar
viruses, researchers believe that the virus is animal-borne
and that bats are the most likely carrier. Four of the five
strains occur in an animal native to Africa.
Symptoms start two days to three weeks after contacting the
virus, with a fever, sore throat, muscle pain, and headaches.
It is transmitted to humans from wild animals and then
spread through direct contact with blood, secretions,
organs, and bodily fluids of those who already is infected.
Ebola viruses are found in several African countries, but it
was first discovered in 1976 near the Ebola River in what is
now the Democratic Republic of Congo.
What Happens?
Most often, vomiting diarrhea, and rash follow infection,
along with decreased function of the liver and kidneys.
People affected may begin to bleed both within the body
and externally. Once human infection occurs, the disease
may spread between people, as well. Male survivors may
be able to transmit the disease via semen for nearly
two months. Symptoms usually begin suddenly with
an influenza-like stage characterized by fatigue, fever,
headaches, or by joint, muscle and abdominal pain. The
first people treated for Ebola inside the U.S. lived, but no
one knows exactly why.
A few drugs are being developed and have been used,
but officials dont know whether they worked or simpler
interventions did the job on their own. There is no vaccine.
Ebola is not airborne. It is spread through bodily fluids
and patients are contagious only while theyre displaying
symptoms. The incubation period for Ebola can span
anywhere from two to 21 days. Symptoms most often begin
to appear eight to 10 days after exposure.
How to confirm
A blood sample is taken for viral antibodies Viral (RNA), to
confirm the diagnosis. Samples of bodily fluids and tissue
from people with the disease should be handled with
special caution.

Treatments
No specific treatment for the disease
is yet available. Efforts to help those
who are infected are supportive and
include giving either oral rehydration
therapy (slightly sweet and salty water to
drink). Those who care for a sick person or
bury someone who has died from the disease
often get it. Other ways to get Ebola include
touching contaminated needles or surfaces.
Undocumented
1. Spreading through the air has not been documented
2. Fruit bats are believed to be a carrier and may spread
the virus without being affected
3. Mosquito bites, spider bites.
4. Hand shakes, hugs
Deaths
An estimated 3,000 U.S. forces will eventually be involved
in helping to control the Ebola epidemic, according to
the White House. A joint force command center has been
set up in Monrovia, Liberia, to provide regional command
and control to U.S. military activities and to facilitate
coordination with U.S. government and international relief
efforts.
Researchers traced the outbreak to a 2-year-old child
who died on December 28, 2013, in Guinea. The disease
then rapidly spread to the neighboring countries of Liberia
and Sierra Leone. It is the largest Ebola outbreak ever
documented, and the first recorded in the region.
On August 8, 2014, the World Health Organization (WHO)
declared the epidemic to be international public health
emergency. On September 2014, the first confirmed
case of Ebola was diagnosed in the U.S. at Texas Health
Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas Texas.
The disease has a high risk of death, killing between 50
percent and 90 percent of those infected with the virus.
Raising Awareness
In order to reduce the spread, the World Health Organization
recommends raising community awareness of the risk
factors for Ebola and the protection measures individuals
should take. The Ebola virus can be eliminated with heat
(heating for 30 to 60 minutes at 60 degrees C or boiling
for 5 minutes) and watching signs of illness for 21 days.

Going Back to
the
heart
of Worship
By Min. Mark A. Peay

hose who have worked in or are

familiar with supermarkets or
grocery stores understand the
term go-back. A go-back is an
item that needs to be returned to its original
shelf or refrigerated storage space within
the store. You know how it is, you changed
your mind about that pack of chicken wings
that you were going to buy, and instead of
returning them to the meat section, you left
it at the front checkout counter with the
cashier. That is called a go-back because it
must go-back to where it can be safely and
properly stored to remain available and fresh.
Many years ago when I was in school of
ministry, our instructor taught us a valuable
lesson about returning to your consecrated
place in Godthat place where He first gave
you your marching orders. That place where
you know what youre supposed to do for
Him, how youre supposed to do it and why
you were supposed to do it. Its not necessarily
a geographical place, but rather our posture
in God and His assignment for us. It is best
for us to walk by faith and not by sight (2
Corinthians 5:7), because when we are sightdriven, things can often appear a little murky
and unclear. Whenever things get a little
murky, we are tempted to walk in a level of
obscurity and uncertainty about where we
are. Its then that we should always go back to
the Word of God to be reminded of where it
all began. If we ever lose sight of Gods vision,
we can always get back to the root of the
matter through the Word and worship. This
is why the Bible says in Matthew 3:10, And
even now the ax is laid to the root of the trees.
Therefore every tree which does not bear good
fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. By
laying the axe to the root, we are keeping the
main thing as the main thing and were able
to get back to the heart of the matter where
Gods will for our lives is concerned. This is
when we have to go back to our first love and
get it right.

When we go
back to God in
worship, according to
Numbers 11:9, manna
(or provision and
sustenance) is always
somewhere close by.
Now lets go back to our definition
above of a go-back. If you changed your mind
about your purchase, would you return a
pack of chicken wings to the produce section?
Or how about returning a bag of seedless
grapes to the frozen food section? Why?
Because we know that food items must be
stored according to what maintains their
freshness. The same holds true in the area of
our callings, talents, abilities and gifts. We
should be mindful of the culture, climate and
atmosphere that our calling and anointing
best thrives in. Our worship to God helps us
maintain a freshness in our walk with God.
Numbers 11:9 tells us: And when the dew
fell upon the camp in the night, the manna fell
upon it. Dew in scripture is often considered
a byproduct of worship. When we go back
to God in worship, according to Numbers
11:9, manna (or provision and sustenance) is
always somewhere close by.
Going back to God in worship at night
has its benefits, as well. In Psalm 63:6 King
David states, I remember thee upon my bed,
and meditate on thee in the night watches.
I used to exclusively worship God in the
morning. But after realizing the blessing
of evening worship, I too love to meditate
upon and remember the goodness of the
Lord upon my bed; before I lay my head to
rest. To me, this is a perfect go-back. It is my
way to plug in and get an overnight charge
of Gods Word through worship. In this age
EIF MAGAZINE | VOL. 11 ISSUE 4 2014

of technology, most of us have some type of

device charger located somewhere near our
beds. Its here that we charge our phones,
tablets, Bluetooth earpieces, etc., overnight.
This is to ensure maximum battery life and
signal strength for the following day. What
better way to be infused with power than to go
back to the ultimate power source at the close
of day? When we upload our worship to God,
He downloads His heart, to us. Id call that an
awesome exchange.

I encourage you as you look ahead at

2015, lets move forward by going back to our
first loveJesus!

The PURSUIT OF HOLINESS

Pastor Frederick K. Price Jr.

Our heavenly Father is holy and He requires us to be holy,

which is a lifestyle. He has also declared us righteous and we
are to live a life set apart from the world.
Holiness is not automatic; it is a choice that, as believers, we
must make and pursue daily. Paul warns Christians against
being a practitioner of sin. In Galatians 5:19-21, Paul lists
seventeen works of the flesh that the church should be
aware of and avoid.
Adams act of disobedience resulted in condemnation,
but the act of obedience by Jesus Christ, the last Adam,
resulted in justification. We have been declared righteous
through the blood of the Lamb. As Christians we
should remain on a quest to pursue holiness and
understand that Christ came to fulfill the law.

Christ
Back in the mid-1970s, God used
Fred Price to prompt me to rededicate
my life to Him in boldness with a
real sense of who I am in Him. Even
while in a backslidden mode, I was
compelled to wake up on Sunday
mornings to tune in to this man of
God. Oftentimes, I marveled at how
this black man could get away with
being so bold. The Apostle taught me
perfectly. He expounded on Gods
redeeming grace. By and by, I began
to study his sermons. Suffice it to
say, Im now about to turn 60 years
old, with victory after victory, upon
victory. Praise God for this instrument
in the person of the Apostle Price. You
taught me what to say and what not to
say. Even in the most accomplished
Christian folk, the authority of what
Jesus said in Mark 11:23 was not really
received. You never gave up. You
never wavered when you lost your
first son. You and Dr. Betty were on
full display proclaiming her healing
when the devil tried to take her out
with cancer. Apostle Price, I watched
you, and by the grace of God you never
wavered. Now, your son, Pastor Price,
who is the age of my own children, is
an unrelenting servant of God who is a
chip off the old block. I love you and
your uncompromising family.

A Note of Thanks
I was diagnosed with breast
cancer 30 years ago. I wrote a letter
to you asking you to pray for me. You
responded personally with prayer and
a word of encouragement. Your letter
with your signature was not stamped.
It was your personal signature. I have
been cancer-free to this date. I have
enjoyed your teaching and have learned
a lot from your ministry. Thank you!

Stumbling Over Truth
In early 1991, you were on a
Canadian TV station called Vision. I
was a 27-year-old man who had grown
up in overbearing religion. At that time
I was a sinner. In Western Canada
where I was, you came on at 2:00
a.m. I stumbled across your broadcast
and my life was changed immediately
that October night. I had a Bible and
a Websters Dictionarythat is how I
started studying my Bible. My study
showed me that everything I had been
taught was wrong and I was so excited
to share what I had found. No one
shared my enthusiasm. God opened
His Word to me over the next five years
as I committed almost every waking
minute to getting to know Him. As a
changed man my life immediately got
better, then got worse than I could have
predicted at that time. I fell hard. This
fall also changed my life, and has taken

various
teachings and books by Apostle Price.
I had purchased How Faith Works
a few years ago and it helped me to
really understand the importance of
confession and how to walk by faith
and not by sight. Ive read many of
his minibooks and blessed others with
them. One of my favorites in particular,
was defeating fear and how not to
worry! My former pastor in my former
hometown of Chicago, Illinois, Dr.
Bill Winston, used to always reference
Apostle Prices teachings and books
and how his materials helped him. Due
to my conflicting schedule with work
and service on Sundays, I dont get the

Faith as much as I would like to. One

of the many messages that Ive heard
Apostle Price teach on was when he
explained how God just doesnt want us
saved, but healed and prosperous. God
wants us whole. I praise God for the
gifts and calling upon Apostle Prices
life, and appreciate the fact that he
continues to teach the uncompromising
Word of God.
[Elana McGhee]
Right Teaching
Dr. Price ministered to me back
in the late-1980s. He changed my life
and relationship with God by teaching
about salvation, faith and speaking in
tongues. My walk has taken several
turns, but I never forget that God loves
me unconditionally and responds to His
Word, not my emotions. I remember
Dr. Price teaching that God is the same
today, yesterday and forever. Its not
God that moves away from you, its
you who moves away from God. I will
never forget that. Thank you, Dr. Price.

The Power to Win in

Any Situation

By Minister Sharon Simmons

Romans 10:9-10 tells us when you confess Jesus
as Lord with your mouth and believe it in your
heart, you become part of a kingdom that is
anything but ordinary. In this kingdom, things
happen that the flesh cant and wont understand.
In this kingdom, there is only victory in every
situation. There is victory over divorce and
loneliness. Maybe youre not a good steward
regarding your finances, or youre dealing with a
spirit of lust, or depression, or gossiping, or even
the death of a loved one (spouse, child, sibling,
etc).
You still have the victory. Its just a matter of
acting on the Word of God by walking by faith,
not by sight. Mark 16:17 Jesus says, And these
signs will follow those who believe (the ones who
believe the gospel/Word of God): In My name
they will cast out demons; they will speak with new
tonguesand remove serpents, and lay hands on
the sick and expect them to recover. The Word of
God says if you can believe, all things are possible
to him who believes.
If who can believe?
You.
Not your grandmother, not your mother, not
your pastor, but you. My question to you is what
can you believe God for in your life? What has He
placed in your heart? What have you been sitting
on waiting for God to manifest? It doesnt matter
how long ago it was when God placed that dream
or vision in your heart. What does matter is your
faith in believing God will bring it to pass.
God has given you authority to do what?

spiritual enemies and demonic powersand over

all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt
you. So when the little foxes manifest themselves
and try to come against your dream, you already
have authority over them. When the enemy tries
to attack your family, you have authority over
the devil. When he attacks your health, you have
authority over him.
If you have a court case and it appears the
enemy is winning, just remember, all things
work together for the good to them who love
God who are called according to His purpose.
When a spirit of grief tries to overtake you, you
have authority over it. Now Im not saying you
shouldnt cry, miss or think about your loved one.
But I am saying to take authority over a spirit of
grief. Remember what Jesus said:Behold, I give
you authority . . . over all the power of the enemy,
and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
Isnt that good to know? In Colossians 2:15, it tells
us that God has disarmed (taken away the threat
or the power the person had) all principalities
and powers. But not only did He disarm them,
He made a show of them openly. You dont
have to bow down to them or be afraid of them
anymore, because they have no power over you.
He made a show of them openly, not just for you
to see but so that all the world would see as well.
He stripped them of their weapons and of their
power over you. If youre standing in front of
someone and you see they dont have a weapon,
would you be afraid of them? No, of course not.
Thats just how it is with your enemy, the devil. He
is powerless over you. He is defenseless against
you. He cant win. All he can do is bluff. So enjoy
your blessings! -EIF

Tithing
under

Grace

BY PASTOR FREDERICK K. PRICE JR.

According to Galatians 3:13, Christ
has redeemed us from the curse
of the law . . . .
Christ has wiped out the
handwriting of requirements that
was against us and nailed it to the
cross (Colossians 2:14). The only
law we are required to follow is
Gods moral law, which is to love
one another as Christ has loved
the church.
In this dynamic series, Pastor
Frederick K. Price sets the
foundation of what it truly means
to tithe as a believer under grace,
and teaches that:

DVD Price: $45.00 FJS49D

Tithing did not become a

requirement until it was adopted
into the law.

In Jesus Christ there is freedom

Children
of Light
Walking in

Fellowship
By Dr. Betty R. Price

od has provided so much for us in

His Word, yet there are too many
Christians who are not receiving
Gods best. One reason they do not receive
is that they do not know the importance of
fellowship, both with God and with their
brothers and sisters in the Lord. Jesus says
in John 17:20-21: I do not pray for these
alone, but also for those who will believe
in Me through their word; that they all may
be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in
You; that they also may be one in Us, that
the world may believe that You sent Me.

an intimate bond of fellowship with the

rest of Christian society. Koinonia cements
believers to the Lord Jesus and to each
other.

For the world to believe that God sent Jesus,

they have to see the love of God through the
Church. If we dont exemplify that love, the
world has no way to see Him. Sometimes
we live our Christian lives too carelessly,
not thinking how important it is how we
act or what we do. We take it for granted
because God does not strike us dead when
we go our own way, doing whatever we feel
like doing, living like the old sinful man.

8 For you were once darkness, but

now you are light in the Lord. Walk
as children of light
9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all
goodness, righteousness, and truth),
10 finding out what is acceptable to the
Lord.
11 And have no fellowship with the
unfruitful works of darkness, but
rather expose them.
12 For it is shameful even to speak of
those things which are done by them
in secret.
13 But all things that are exposed are
made manifest by the light, for
whatever makes manifest is light.
14 Therefore He says: Awake, you
who sleep, arise from the dead, and
Christ will give you light.

Fellowship is the Greek word koinonia,

which according to Strongs Dictionary of
Greek and Hebrew Words means sharing,
unity, close association, partnership,
participation, a society, a communion,
a fellowship, contributory help, the
brotherhood. Koinonia is also a unity
brought about by the Holy Spirit. In
koinonia, the individual shares in common
EIF MAGAZINE | VOL. 11 ISSUE 4 2014

We could all be partakers of this fellowship,

which pleases God, if we would just be
obedient to the Word of God. We are
encouraged in 1 John 1:7 that if we walk
in the light as He [Jesus] is in the light, we
have fellowship with one another. As light,
God reveals Himself as perfect holiness and
majesty. We read in Ephesians 5:8-14:

Too many Christians act as if they are asleep

or dead to the things of God. Paul is telling
us to awake from our sleep and to rise from
the dead. We are responsible for walking in
the light because Paul says in Verse 8, Walk
as children of light. We are told over and
over again in the Bible how Jesus walks and
acts. So we should find out how He acts and
conduct ourselves as children of light.
In 1 Corinthians 5:9-13, Paul writes:
9 I wrote to you in my epistle not to
keep company with sexually immoral
people.
10 Yet I certainly did not mean with
the sexually immoral people of
this world, or with the covetous,
or extortioners, or idolaters, since
then you would need to go out of the
world.
11 But now I have written to you not to
keep company with anyone named a
brother, who is sexually immoral, or
covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler,
or a drunkard, or an extortioner
not even to eat with such a person.
12 For what have I to do with judging
those also who are outside? Do you
not judge those who are inside?
13 But those who are outside God
judges. Therefore put away from
yourselves the evil person.
Sometimes we are so tenderhearted that
we give in and let people do anything.
But when we do this, we are cutting
ourselves off from fellowship with God
and true Christians. We know what sexual
immorality is, but Paul adds in Verse 11,
or covetous. The word covetous means
greedy of gain. Covetous people want to
gain power, position and money, and they
will do anything to get them. We see too
much of this in the body of Christ.
An idolater is excessively devoted to or
reverent to some person or thing. Many
Christians are excessively devoted to all
kinds of ungodly things. But the only thing
to which you should be excessively devoted
to is the Word of God. A reviler means

someone who treats another as vile; to

humiliate, to use abusive or contemptuous
language in speaking to or about someone.
A lot of Christians do this also. This is why
the body of Christ is not where it ought to
be.
Most of us know what a drunkard is, so I
wont define it. An extortioner is someone
who gets money by violence, threats,
misuse of authority, lying and any other
way they can. I call extortioners con people.
You need to be very careful with whom
you associate. Not everyone who comes to
church comes for the right reasons. Some
individuals come just so they can meet
other people and take advantage of them.
If you know people like the ones Ive
described, separate from them. That way,
these brothers and sisters will hopefully be
ashamed and change, and come to enjoy
true fellowship. You cannot have true
fellowship with someone who is not living
by your same principles.
Our walk in the light should be lived
accountably before God and man. Anyone
who walks in the light of God cannot fail to
note his own sinfulness. This is why some
people apparently dont know God, because
they certainly dont know their own
sinfulness. They go on doing the same old
evil things they did before they got saved.
They are not in line with Gods Word.
Lets look at Ephesians 4:20-24:
20 But you have not so learned Christ,
21 if indeed you have heard Him and
have been taught by Him, as the truth
is in Jesus:
22 that you put off, concerning your
former conduct, the old man which
grows corrupt according to the
deceitful lusts,
23 and be renewed in the spirit of your
mind,
24 and that you put on the new man
which was created according to God,
in true righteousness and holiness.

This is our responsibility. We have to put

off that old sinful man and put on the newly
created man. If we dont put off the old man,
he is going to negatively affect our walk with
the Lord. Paul goes on in Verses 25, 29 and
30:
25 Therefore, putting away lying, Let
each one of you speak truth with his
neighbor, for we are members of one
another.
29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of
your mouth, but what is good for
necessary edification, that it may
impart grace to the hearers. [So if the
words you are thinking will not impart
grace to the hearers, dont let them out
of your mouth.]
30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of
God, by whom you were sealed for the
day of redemption.
When you are doing evil things, all this
lying and corrupt communication, you are
grieving the Holy Spirit. That is why Paul
writes in Verses 31-32:
31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger,
clamor, and evil speaking be put away

from you, with all malice.

32 And be kind to one another,
tenderhearted, forgiving one another,
even as God in Christ forgave you.
We work with Christians all the time who
let evil speaking come out of their mouths
without hesitation. And dont cross them
because they will let bitterness come in.
That is why a lot of Christians go to meet
the Lord, if they indeed meet the Lord, long
before their time. Paul writes in 1 Corinthians
11:30:
For this reason many are weak and sick
among you, and many sleep.
God is saying that many sleep, meaning
they die prematurely, because they dont
obey His Word. We need to check ourselves.
Unity is a vital key to power in the local
church, so we need to look out for one
another. Instead of trying to find out all the
wrong in our brothers and sisters, we should
be protecting one another. If we would do
that, it would give a powerful witness to the
world, and the heavenly Father would be
able to bless us more fully. -EIF

The Impact of
Digital Ministry on
Real Time Ministry
By Jason Caston

When a ministry is on Facebook,

it has the capability of reaching a vast
number of people. For example, if a
daily devotional or sermon snippet
is uploaded to Facebook, then thats
real-time ministry. A person can
watch a clip of a
sermon or read
the devotional and
comment
with,
That
helped
me today. That
transformed my
life. That impacted
me. The material
wasnt real-time,
but the results on
social media were.
This is how can go around the world
in real time.
On the Internet church portion
of the Ever Increasing Faith website,
there are chat modules next to the
online video where people are talking
with and ministering to each other.
This makes ministry engaging as well.
Obviously if people are online theyre
chatting more so youre hearing more
feedback than if you were in an actual
sanctuary. Most people online are
not worried about whos watching
what they are saying on the chats so
they are apt to be more honest. These

are some of the positive aspects of

merging digital ministry with real life
ministry.
There is a downside as well.
Social media gives pastors a voice.
But it also gives everyone else a
voice.
There
are people who
will go online to
disagree with a
pastor or ministry,
simply because
they
have
a
forum. Some may
even slander a
leader or ministry
online and this
can be hurtful.
For example, if a child hears
encouragement, it really impacts him
or her. If they hear discouragement,
that really impacts them too. We
see that in the online environment
via digital media and social media
especially.
Mixing digital ministry with realtime ministry is a great opportunity
for ministries to reach the masses and
get immediate feedback, but there
has to be a way to curb naysayers so
that it doesnt ruin the experience for
everyone. -EIF

ParentingMatters

Speak Life Into Your Kids

By La Verne Tolbert, Ph.D.

I was trying to concentrate on taking the test, one student confided.

My grades are important to my Mom, but all I could think about
was that she called me a b before I got out of the car

ticks and stones may break my bones

but words will never harm me. This
childhood rhyme could not be further
from the truth. Words do harm, and sometimes
their pain goes deep within our psyche. The
long-term effect can be more penetrating than
the hurt from any stick or stone

youth ministry confused and angry. Some may

even question the reality of God because He
didnt rescue them from their verbally abusive
home. And they doubt the reality of the Gospel
because they didnt see it modeled in the
people who took them to church every Sunday
and who called themselves Christians.

Children are impressionable. The words

they hear help shape their personality and
mold their character. What comes out of our
mouths leaves a stamp on their minds, which
means that parents and teachers have a major
responsibility to speak life into those whom
God entrusts to us.

In the heat of a disciplinary action, a parent

may unintentionally lash out verbally as a
result of his or her frustration and anger. More
often, mothers and fathers may have been
bullied by their own parents when they were
children so in return they bully. Its easy to see
why this pattern continues.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue,

(Proverbs 18:21). Our evaluation of our
children weighs heavily on their self-esteem,
and herein lies the power of the tongue. It can
be a whip that cuts and harms or it can be a
yardstick by which children measure their own
self-worth.

For the bullying parent, children are easy

targets because their cognitive skills are so
undeveloped that the child cannot verbally
retort. This may give the bully a sense of
power, especially if that power is lacking in
other areas of his or her life, such as career or
education for example. Barking at children,
dismissing their concerns by telling them to
shut up and treating them in ways that would
never happen if Jesus were physically present
is an unfortunate reality in too many homes
where believers live. My brethren, these things
ought not to be!

Research indicates that moms and dads are

the most significant individuals in a childs
life. Children value their parents opinion and
seek their approval over their peers, especially
during the teenage years. Most parents think
the oppositethat peers influence is greater
but no matter how young or old the child is,
parents and foster moms and dads are primary
role models to both children and teens.

What is Verbal Abuse

Behind closed doors in the home, some

children regularly experience what experts
identify as verbal abuse. These boys and
girls are called names, ridiculed, belittled and
humiliated by their significant role models
parents and foster parents who are supposed
to love and protect them.
These kids may show up in the childrens and

Verbal abuse may have long-term effects and

leave emotional wounds similar to the effects
of physical abuse. According to the American
Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
(AACAP), children who have been physically
or emotionally abused may display:
A poor self-image
Sexual acting out
Inability to trust or love others
Aggressive, disruptive and sometimes
illegal behavior
Anger and rage

Self-destructive or self-abusive
behavior, suicidal thoughts
Passive or withdrawn behavior
Fear of entering into new relationships
or activities
Anxiety and fears
School problems or failure
Feelings of sadness or other symptoms
of depression
Flashbacks, nightmares
Drug and alcohol abuse
This does not mean that parents should not
discipline their children, but to do so with
respect values the child while disapproving
of the behavior. For example, children should
not be told that they are bad, but that their
actions are unacceptable. In this way, we are
not attacking the child personally rather we
are pointing to the action that needs to be
corrected. Explaining how to correct behavior
gives children options when they are faced
with decisions the next time.
Screaming and yelling is an additional form of
verbal abuse. It may stem from the desire to
terrorize, to control and to punish, which are as
emotionally devastating as physical abuse. The
tone of our voice and the volume with which
we speak communicate how we feel about our
children, and children are quick to internalize
these feelings.
These same children go to school and bully
and terrorize other children because this
negative behavioruncontrolled reactions
is what they have learned at home. Because
of their deep-seated anger, they may lash
out even more and become teenagers who
engage in physical altercations at the slightest
provocation.

Parenting is Difficult

Raising kids today is no easy task, and its

normal to feel frustrated at times. For the single
parent, financial and emotional pressures may
be magnified. What makes parenting difficult?
Moms and dads, foster parents, grandparents,
or aunties and uncles who are raising children

all experience these pressures: job demands,

sibling rivalry, too many activities for kids,
financial pressures, pressure to buy things, or
pressure from being a single parent.
Heres where being a believer makes a
difference. Casting our care upon the Lord
(I Peter 5:7) means that we rely upon Him
to guide us through the daily challenges of
life. We all face similar struggles. We can
either respond victoriously, speaking grace
and peace to our children, or we can respond
viciously out of unresolved frustration, anger,
and insecurity.
Its never too late to correct our own behavior as
adults. In fact, we have a biblical responsibility
to do so. The Bible assures us that our minds
will be renewed by His Word (Romans 12:
1,2) so heres where we begin. Spending time
daily reading the Bible and praying, if only
for 10 minutes at a time, reminds us of our
dependency upon God. We seek His help and
direction and pray for wisdom and self-control.
Family counseling is a positive step in helping
to resolve issues of tension between parents
and children. Proverbs tells us that in the
multitude of counselors there is safety,
(Proverbs 11:14) and that he who seeks
counsel is wise (Proverbs 12:15). Finding a
godly counselor who is knowledgeable is a
healthy step in the right direction.
If we know that weve responded in a way that
was out of control, we must apologize to our
children. Its time to humble ourselves before
Godand before our childrenand ask for
their forgiveness.
But whoever causes one of these little ones
who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for
him if a millstone were hung around his neck,
and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
(Matthew 18:6)
Here, Jesus uses hyperboleexaggerated
languageto demonstrate how much He
values children. A millstone is a very large
stone used for grinding meal. To picture this
happening is to remind each of us that children
are indeed gifts from God (Psalm 127:3),
which He has entrusted to us. -EIF

Apostle and Dr. Price

Q: My fiancs living situation changed

even though we arent married yet. There is
nothing going on between us and we sleep

Unless otherwise indicated, scripture

quotations noted above are taken from the
New King James Version of the Bible.

What you did is not wise. There is no way

you will be able to convince your friends who
are not Christian that you are living in a house
with a man and not doing anything sexual with
him. There is no way in the world anyone
is going to believe that. You have lost your
testimony. You are living as if you are married
but are not. In essence, you are promoting a lie.
First Thessalonians 5:22 says, abstain from all
appearance of evil. Even if you are in separate
bedrooms, the appearance of evil is present. If
your fianc respected you, he would not place
you in such a compromising situation.

Says Apostle Price about the Holy Spirit:

The simplest thing for us to do is let the
Bible paint us a picture of the Holy Spirit,
and go by what the Word of God says
and nothing else.

Is the Holy Spirit a What or a Who? And

how can I get this power force to work in
my life to put me over? These questions
and many more on the Holy Spirit are
addressed in The Holy Spirit: The Helper
We All Need.

Even with all the Bible knowledge that is

prevalent in the world today, there is still a
lot of misunderstanding and misinformation
concerning the Third Person of the Holy
Trinity the Blessed Holy Spirit.
