Power exhaust fan - shall be factory installed for units larger than 5 tons. Shall include relief damper section with mist eliminator. Dampers open to relieve positive pressure within the
building. Available only with economizer.
Filters section: 2" thick fiberglass throwaway filters in filter rack, with maximum face velocity of 300 fpm.
Accessories: units shall include the following accessories as indicated or scheduled:
Anti-recycling control to automatically prevent compressor restart for 5-minutes after shutdown.

Verify that electrical wiring installation is in accordance with manufacturer's submittal and installation requirements of division-16 sections. Do not proceed with equipment start-up until

Ductwork: connect supply and return ducts to unit with flexible duct connections. Provide transitions to exactly match unit duct connection size. Provide 1" acoustic duct lining on return

Casing: unit casing shall be constructed of zinc coated, heavy gauge, galvanized steel. Exterior surfaces shall be cleaned, phosphatized and finished with a weather-resistant baked
enamel finish. Casing is completely insulated with fire-retardant, permanent, odorless glass fiber material. Knockouts shall be provided for unit electrical power and refrigerant piping
connections. Captive screws shall be standard on all access panels.
Refrigerant system: the twe units shall have a single refrigeration circuit and the tte units shall have dual refrigeration circuits. Each refrigeration circuit is controlled by a factory
installed thermal expansion valve.

Inspection
Examine areas and conditions under which heaters to be installed. Do not proceed with work until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected in manner acceptable to installer.

General: install unit heaters as indicated, and in accordance with manufacturer's installation instructions.
Uncrate units and inspect for damage. Verify that nameplate data corresponds with unit designation.
Hang units from building substrate, not from piping. Mount as high as possible to maintain greatest headroom possible unless otherwise indicated.
Support units with rod-type hangers anchored to building substrate.
Install piping as indicated.

Installation

Evaporator fan: double inlet, double width, forward curved, centrifugal-type fan(s) with adjustable belt drive shall be standard. Thermal overload protection shall be standard on motor.
Fan and motor bearings shall be permanently lubricated. Motors and bearings shall be resilient mounted. Oversized motors shall be available as an option for high static application.

Install electric heating terminal units including components as indicated, in accordance with equipment manufacturer's written instructions, and with recognized industry practices;
complying with applicable installation requirements of nec and neca's "standard of installation".

Controls: magnetic evaporator fan contactor, low voltage terminal strip, check valves, and single point power entry shall be included. All necessary controls shall be factory-installed
and wired. Evaporator defrost control shall be included to prevent compressor slugging by temporarily interrupting compressor operation when low evaporator coil temperatures are
encountered.

Coordinate with other electrical work, including wiring/cabling, as necessary to properly interface installation of heating terminal units with other work.

Electric heaters - ul and csa approved electric heat modules shall be available for installation directly on fan discharge. Electric heaters shall be available in a wide range of capacities
with one or two stage control, single-point electric power connection and terminal strip connections. Electric heater elements shall be constructed of heavy-duty nickel chromium
elements internally wye connected on 480/600 volt, three phase and delta connected on 208/240 volt, three phase. Each 208/240 volt heater shall have pilot duty with secondary
backup fuse links for automatic reset on high limit controls. Each 480/600 volt heater shall have automatic line break high limit controls.

Protect units with protective covers during balance of construction.

Clean dust and debris from each heating terminal as it is installed to ensure cleanliness.
Comb out damaged fins where bent or crushed before covering elements with enclosures.
Touch-up scratched or marred heating terminal enclosure surfaces to match original finishes.
Tighten connectors and terminals, including screws and bolts, in accordance with equipment manufacturer's published torque tightening values for equipment connectors. Where
manufacturer's torquing requirements are not indicated, tighten connectors and terminals to comply with tightening torques specified in ul std 486a.
Grounding

Discharge plenums and grilles - accessory discharge plenums shall be available for vertical front or rear, free discharge applications. Plenums shall be constructed of heavy-gauge,
zinc coated galvanized steel finished with baked enamel to match the air handler unit. Grilles shall be satin finished aluminum and have four-way adjustable louvers.

Provide equipment grounding connections for electric heating terminals as indicated. Tighten connections to comply with tightening torque values specified in ul std 486a to assure
permanent and effective grounding.

Mounting subbase - available for vertical floor mount configurations. Subbase shall be constructed of heavy gauge, zinc coated galvanized steel with baked enamel finish to match air
handler unit.

Field quality control

Vibration isolators - shall reduce transmission of noise and vibration to building structures, equipment and adjacent spaces. Packages shall be available in either neoprene-in-shear or
spring-flex types in floor or ceiling mountings.
Control options
Standard indoor thermostats - two stage heating and cooling operations or one stage heating and cooling thermostats shall be available in either manual or automatic changeover.
Programmable electronic night setback thermostat - shall provide heating setback and cooling setup with 7-day programming capability.
Outdoor thermostat - shall provide staging control of electric heaters based on a set outdoor temperature.

Upon completion of installation of electric heating terminals, and after building circuitry has been energized, test heating terminals to demonstrate capability and compliance with
requirements.
Where possible, field correct malfunctioning units, then retest to demonstrate compliance; otherwise, remove and replace with new units and proceed with retesting.
Replace electric heating terminals and accessories which are damaged and remove damaged items from construction site.
Electrical wiring
General: install electrical devices furnished by manufacturer but not specified to be factory-mounted. Furnish copy of manufacturer's wiring diagram submittal to electrical installer.

Provide the following:

Retouch any marred or scratched surfaces of factory-finished cabinets, using finish materials furnished by manufacturer.

Time delay relay to prevent short cycling compressor.


Manual indoor change-over thermostat.

REVISIONS

Installation of unit heaters

Evaporator coil: configurated aluminum fin surface shall be mechanically bonded to 3/8" internally enhanced copper tubing and factory pressure and leak tested at 425 psig. Coil is
arranged for draw-through airflow and shall provide condensate drain pan constructed of pvc plastic and provide external connections on either side of the unit. Provide full cased
cover around evaporator coil for duct mounting.

Filters: one inch, throw-away filters shall be standard. Filters shall be accessible from the side coil access panel. Filter rack can be field converted to two inch capability.

LAYOUT: MS-101

Manufacturers: subject to compliance with requirements, provide wall heaters of one of the following:

Low ambient control: provide head pressure control, designed to operate at temperatures down to -20 deg. F. Provide for all units without economizers.

General: air handler units shall be completely factory assembled including coil, condensate drain pan, fan motor, filters and controls in an insulated casing that can be applied in either
vertical or horizontal configuration. Units shall be rated and tested in accordance with ari standard 210. Units shall be ul listed, labeled, classified in accordance with ul 465 and 559 for
indoor blower coil units. All units shall be csa certified for canadian application.
