MOBIL GOM DRILLING HOLE CLEANING PARAMETERS

These guidelines exist to develop a baseline for hole cleaning performance and will be modified as
appropriate based on data gathered. The single most critical hole cleaning parameter is annular
velocity, which is a function of flow rate.

THE PRIORITY IS MAXIMUM FLOW RATE !!

Hole Cleaning Operational Requirements

MWD representatives, Engineers and Rig Supervisors must ensure that drill string flow rate restrictions / limitations are identified and
minimized where possible prior to shipment for each hole section (i.e.: pump liners, nozzles, pressure drop across motors, MWD, LWD, etc.).
Back reaming connections is left to the discretion of the Rig Supervisor, however, if done, should be noted on the morning report.
Engineers and Supervisors should discuss hydraulics for hole cleaning, equivalent circulating density (ECD) and surge and swab data daily.
The 6 RPM reading should be kept within guidelines to maximize hole cleaning and solids suspension while considering ECD. Do not allow the
shakers' capabilities to restrict flow rate. If using an OBM or SBM, use coarser screens if necessary to accommodate volume. The flowrate
(gpm) while back pumping should never be less than the flowrate used at the TD of the section.

Hole Cleaning Reporting Requirements

Fluid vendors will maintain a hole cleaning spreadsheet on each well and a hole cleaning database from these reports. These reports will be
sent in daily. Rig Supervisors should note on the morning reports any pertinent hole cleaning data (sweep frequency & effectiveness, hole
conditions, back pumping / reaming required, etc).

Please Note: These guidelines WILL be followed. Solids loading, hole conditions, mud weight, directional control, equivalent circulating
density (ECD) or other factors may dictate deviation from the above parameters. If so, deviations MUST be approved by the Drilling
Superintendent.
