Dear Sir/ Madam,

I am Kevin Dias, a senior undergraduate pursuing my Electrical Engineering at IIT Bombay.
I wish to apply for the position of Associate Consultant at your firm.
A career in Management Consulting has always fascinated me as it involves working with the best
minds of the world to develop game- changing solutions to perplexing, real time problems and to
come up with critical strategies that will deliver maximum profit to clients. As most of the
consultant companies are also involved in a lot of social work, this is the only career which will also
give me the opportunity to bring about substantial changes in the society by helping the
Not-for-profit and government organizations to achieve their goals. Given my good academic
record, passion for problem solving, communication and leadership skills I am confident that this is
the best career option for me.
My first experience of consulting was during my internship at Procter & Gamble in one of their
detergent manufacturing units. My project required me to study the entire make/pack process in
use and to come up with solutions at minimum cost that would be implemented immediately so as
to increase the total volumes produced each day. I worked in collaboration with P&G officials not
only in India but also those in Singapore and China to discuss on the feasibility of the solutions that I
was working on. The whole experience was quite exciting for me. I managed to do a good job in
implementing the solutions proposed well before the deadline which lead to an increase in the
total production the next month.
During my time at IITB, the other key experience I have had is as the Marketing Manager of
Techfest 2011. This role developed in me the skills of listening to my team members, valuing their
inputs and expertise and to voice my own thoughts and suggestions whenever needed. Leading a
two tier team of 72 student volunteers has instilled in me the confidence of being a good leader.
Regular meetings with the prospective sponsors of Techfest and the top-level management at P&G
have helped me develop my communication and presentation skills. Both these experiences have
developed in me the ability to take risks and make quick decisions under tense situations. They
have taught me to be practical which helped me deliver profitable results in the given timeline.
These developed skills and experiences will help me immensely in my career as a management
consultant.
