1955. Online by Gerhard Peters and John T. Woodley, The American Presidency
Project. 13 Nov. 2014. In Eisenhowers statement about the vaccine he explained
who would be given priority when distributing the vaccine and the dates the vaccine
began to be distributed, written on my Effects of the Vaccine page.

Devon, B. Nancy Rowch, Polio Survivor. Teen Ink. n.p, n.d. Web. 28 Oct. 2014.
From this personal account of polio I learned what it was like to be a polio survivor.
As a result of polio Rowch had to use a brace and cane for the rest of her life. I
explained this idea on my Historical Context page.

life was like while living during the polio epidemic time period as well as the concerns
of the nation about the new vaccine.

president I was able to gather information about how the disease was such a large
and national problem. President Eisenhower addressed the nation about how the
polio vaccine would be distributed and who would be vaccinated first.

the polio vaccine, how the virus affects the immune system, and the number polio

from the Salk Institute provided me with information about how the virus infects the
body and the events leading up to the release of the vaccine.

Blume, Stuart, and Ingrid Geesink. A brief history of Polio Vaccines. Science 288.5471(200):
1593-1594. I used this source to gain facts about the vaccine trials. The website
gave the percentages showing how effective the vaccine was which I used on my
Trials page. I also found information on how the vaccine works.

n.d.Web. 13 Nov. 2014. This website, published on Salks 100th birthday, describes
the events leading up to right before the vaccine was released. It also specifies the
amount of polio cases diagnosed in the 21st century.

Polio Vaccine Medicine Plus. n.d. Web. 26 Oct. 2014. On this website I discovered that Salks
vaccine is still used today. I found that the polio shot is given in four doses as a child
before the kid is allowed to enter kindergarten too.
