Introduction Introduction
The aut hor Sr i Venkat adhvar i was bor n at Ar asanipalai near Kancheepur am and
was t he f ollower of Sr i Vedant a desikan. He had mast er y in poet r y and
r het or ic. He had composed 14 wor ks, t he most impor t ant of t hem being
Lakshmisahasr am by composing which he got back his lost eyesight .
The pr esent wor k Raghavayadhaveeyam compr ises of 30 ver ses and deals wit h
t he st or y of Rama and Kr ishna t oget her by adopt ing t he st yle of anuloma and
pr at hiloma, t hat is, r eading each st anza as such and in r ever se or der , t he
f or mer t elling t he st or y of Rama while t he lat t er nar r at ing t he st or y of
Kr ishna. Hence t his wor k act ually consist s of 60 slokas in all.
The st or y of Rama f ollows Valmiki Ramayana closely but t her e is a
slight deviat ion wit h r espect t o t he st or y of Kr ishna which will be explained as
t he wor k pr ogr esses. The st yle is r at her dif f icult t o under st and and t he
comment ar y in Sanskr it is pr ovided by t he aut hor himself t o f acilit at e
