SINAMICS V20 Firmware Upgrading Process

Overview
:
The Analogue input of V20 was updated from 10 bit to 12 bit in the FW version 3.51.06. So, V20 drive
whose firmware version less than FW3.51.06 need to be updated to FW3.51.06 or higher.
Note: It is mandatory to do parameter calibration after upgrading firmware from lower version to
3.51.06 or higher.
If the V20 drive has already version 3.51.06 or newer version then it does not needed parameter
calibration after firmware up gradation.
The version information of V20 can be found in the parameter r0964.

From above it is clear that the firmware version is 3.50. so, it is mandatory to do calibration after
upgrading to FW 3.51.06 or higher.

Following is the process to update the SINAMICS V20 drive firmware to 3.51.06 or
higher.
Step 1: Copy the delivered LM3_crc.rec,Im3_load.rec and sectstage.bin file to SD/MMC.
Step 2: Insert the SD/MMC card into the SINAMICS V20 Parameter Loader.

Step 3: Switch-off the V20 drive incoming AC power supply.

Step 4: Plug-in the Parameter Loader into the SINAMICS V20 drive.

Step 5: Press the white button to active the inverter. Updating starts automatically and the LED is
lit up.

Step6: Observe the LED status as it gives the result of firmware updating process.

Following is the process to calibrate after updating SINAMICS V20 drive firmware to
3.51.06 or higher.
Step1: After successful updation of SINAMICS V20 drive firmware ,remove the Parameter loader
unit from drive.
Step2: Switch-on the V20 drive incoming AC power supply.
Step3: Set parameter P3950=1.
Step4: Read the following parameters from the drive and note it down.
