A. Test Pieces (Non Piping) If D > 20 Use ASME Plate Block calibration use (T.434.1.7.1) and DAC
Techniques.
1. Determine Thickness Test Pieces and Diameter , Find Range

2. Find dB Reference = dB Sensitivity ASME Plate + (dB TOL Tp dB TOL

2.1. dB Sensitivity ASME Plate


2.1.1. Make DAC ( Distance Amplitude Correction) ASME Plate at 80% 5% FSH(T-463.1.2)
a. Find Thickness ASME Plate (19.5 mm)
b. Check Range (Note Same as Range Test Pieces)

c. Calibrate Angle Probe on IIW V2 at Range


d. First :
- Use 1 ea Angle Probe to obatain maximum pulse heigth at 80% 5% FSH for
TASME Plate (4.88mm) as 100% DAC make a point and write the dB (dB
Sensitivity ASME Plate)
- Reduce 6 dB to obtain 50 % DAC, make a point
- Reduce 8 dB to obtain 20 % DAC, make a point
- Add 12 dB to original dB off 100% DAC
e. Second
- Move 1 ea Angle Probe to obtain maximum pulse height without change dB
note to TASME Plate (9.75 mm) make a point.
- Reduce 6 dB to obtain 50 % DAC, make a point
- Reduce 8 dB to obtain 20 % DAC, make a point
- Add 12 dB to original dB off 100% DAC
f. Third
- Move 1 ea Angle Probe to obtain maximum pulse height without change dB
note to TASME Plate (14.63) make a point.
- Reduce 6 dB to obtain 50 % DAC, make a point
- Reduce 8 dB to obtain 20 % DAC, make a point
- Add 12 dB to original dB off 100% DAC

- Move 1 ea Angle Probe to obtain maximum pulse height without change dB
note to 4/4 TASME Plate ( 19.5) make a point.
- Reduce 6 dB to obtain 50 % DAC, make a point
- Reduce 8 dB to obtain 20 % DAC, make a point

a. Indication Pulse Heigth 20% DAC , Regardless except for Lack Of Fusion (LOF), Incomplete
Penetration (IP) and Crack must be reject.
b. Indication Pulse Heigth > 20% DAC , for Lack Of Fusion (LOF), Incomplete Penetration (IP)
and Crack must be reject.

c. 20% < Indication Pulse Heigth 50% DAC , ACC except for Lack Of Fusion (LOF), Incomplete
Penetration (IP) and Crack must be reject.
d. 50% < Indication Pulse Heigth 100% DAC , Record and ask to Engineering except for Lack
Of Fusion (LOF), Incomplete Penetration (IP) and Crack must be reject.
e. 20% < Indication Pulse Heigth 50% DAC , Evaluation except for Lack Of Fusion (LOF),
Incomplete Penetration (IP) and Crack must be reject.
- TTP 19 mm ; L max = 6mm
- 19 mm > TTP 57 mm ; L max = 1/3 TTP
- TTP >57 mm ; L max = 19mm

B. Test Pieces (Non Piping) If D < 20 Use ASME Curve Block calibration use range curvature 0.9
1.5 times (T.434.1.7.2) and DAC Techniques.

- Reduce 6 dB to obtain 50 % DAC, make a point
- Reduce 8 dB to obtain 20 % DAC, make a point
- Add 12 dB to original dB off 100% DAC
e. Second
- Move 1 ea Angle Probe to obtain maximum pulse height without change dB
note to 2 Leg Notch (Top) make a point.
- Reduce 6 dB to obtain 50 % DAC, make a point
- Reduce 8 dB to obtain 20 % DAC, make a point
- Add 12 dB to original dB off 100% DAC

- Move 1 ea Angle Probe to obtain maximum pulse height without change dB
note to 3 Leg Notch (Bottom) make a point.
- Reduce 6 dB to obtain 50 % DAC, make a point
- Reduce 8 dB to obtain 20 % DAC, make a point
- Add 12 dB to original dB off 100% DAC

- Move 1 ea Angle Probe to obtain maximum pulse height without change dB
note to 4 Leg Notch (Bottom) make a point.
- Reduce 6 dB to obtain 50 % DAC, make a point
- Reduce 8 dB to obtain 20 % DAC, make a point

- Isolated random spherical 25 mm ACC and > 25 mm evaluated as linear
reflector.
- Aligned spherical shall be evaluated as linear reflector
- Cluster spherical or more > 645 mm2 / 150 mm , Rejected
c. Linear or Plannar use figure 6.5 (note for Accumulated Length Indication D/2 )
