Wide vessels of jewels, gold, silver and blazing lights, the rst taste of
rice wine, grape wine and barley wine, this inexhaustible libation like
a swirling ocean, I offer to the great protectress and the Teachings and
her retinue.

Appendix III
Retreat Schedule
First session:
Start with the Six Session Guru Yoga. Then do the complete Palden Lhamo
practice, on the basis of the long Yamantaka sadhana.
Later sessions:
Using the short Yamantaka sadhana, start from the Instant Self Generation.
Last session:
(Optional) Include the Libation (or Tea) Offering and/or the Tsog Offering to
Palden Lhamo.

Prompting The Enlightened Actions Of The Protectress Whom We Rely Upon.

It is advised to have three sessions a day: before breakfast, before lunch, and in
the evening, and use the afternoon for doing the practices you have a commitment for. If one wishes, one might also do one, two or four retreat sessions a day.

The Tradition Of The Phukang House Of Drepung Monastery, compiled by the great Serkong
Dorje Chang. In August 1986, Lama Thubten Zopa Rinpoche requested me to translate this
text from the Tibetan into English. A rst draft translation, partial and tentative, was presented in September 1986. A modied version of this was presented by Getsulma Jampa Choekyi
in 1987. The present text uses elements of her work. I welcome any corrections or suggestions
that might improve the quality of the translation.
The parts that, according to the available commentaries, are not needed for an Approximation Retreat were left out. The sections between square brackets were added from the commentaries.
I dedicate the merits of this work to the long life of my gurus and that all sentient beings may
protect themselves by protecting their karma.

Appendix II
Offering Libation
(Bless the drink like the inner offering.)
BHYOH / Unceasingly kind root and lineage lamas, peaceful and
wrathful deities, yidams who bestow all accomplishments; sovereign
Lady of the desire realm, glorious Remati, accept this libation and
perform the entrusted actions.
You Remati and your two servants, the goddesses of the four seasons,
the ve Long-Life Sisters, the twelve Tenmas and your assembled
ocean-like retinue, accept this libation and perform the entrusted actions.
From the time of my parents, the protectors of the Doctrine, the principal gods, country gods, landlords, the eight groups of prideful ones
and the assembled ocean-like retinue, accept this libation and perform
the entrusted actions.
Queen of Desire, completely clarifying the three worlds, sovereign lady
of the desire realm, glorious Remati, accept this offering of the ve
sense-objects and perform your actions that accomplish everything
we desire. (3x)
BHYOH / Supreme Dharma protector who protects the holders of the
Doctrine, who, with magical powers, protects yogis like her children,
mistress of the desire realm, glorious goddess, accept these offerings
and perform the entrusted actions.
Although in an ultimate sense you dont stir from the state of peace, in
order to subdue the Doctrines enemies, you show a wrathful female
body. Only mother, glorious queen of the three worlds, accept these
offerings and perform the entrusted actions.
Having the aspect of extremely wrathful cannibals, a pair of agents run
in front and behind the chief lady; both of you, Sea Monster Face and
Lion Face, accept these offerings and perform the entrusted actions.

Taking Refuge
I go for refuge to the kind, glorious and holy root and lineage lamas, who are
the essence of all body, speech and mind, qualities and enlightened activities of all the ten directions and the three times, who are the source of the
eighty-four thousand teachings and masters of the complete arya sangha. I go
for refuge to the Buddha. I go for refuge to the dharma. I go for refuge to the
sangha. I go for refuge to the yidams, the mandala deities and their entourage.
I go for refuge to the protectors of the holy Dharma, those glorious lords who
have the wisdom eye. (3x)

Refuge and Bodhicitta


I go for refuge, until enlightenmnet, to the Buddha, the Dharma and the
supreme assembly. May I, through the merits of practising generosity and the
other perfections, attain Buddhahood in order to benet migrating beings.

Taking the Bodhisattva Vows


I go for refuge to the Triple Gem. I confess individually all my negative
actions. I rejoice in the virtues of migrating beings. I remain mindful of
highest enlightenment. I go for refuge, until enlightenment, to the Buddha,
the Dharma and the Supreme Assembly. In order to fulll well the purpose of
myself and others, I generate bodhicitta, the mind of enlightenment. Having
generated this mind seeking highest enlightenment, I will hold as my guests
all sentient beings. I will do the delightful and lofty actions of a bodhisattva.
May I reach enlightenment in order to benet migrating beings. (3x)

The Four Immeasurables


May all sentient beings have happiness and its cause.
May all sentient beings be free from suffering and its cause.
May all sentient beings not be separated from the happiness that
is without suffering.
May all sentient beings abide in the equanimity which is free from
attachment and hatred. (3x)

Auspicious Lady of Long Life, Blue-Faced Noble Lady, Unshakable


Noble-Minded Lady, Diadem Noble-Necked Lady, and Steady White
Noble-Going Lady, you the ve dakini sisters, accept these offerings
and perform the entrusted actions.
Four demonesses, such as All-Famous Vajra; four yakshas such as
One-Eyed Vajra; four female medicine spirits such as Kong Tsun
Demo, accept these offerings and perform the entrusted actions.
This rst offering of pure libation, great god Brahma, together with
your mother, sons and ministers, and an assembly of ten million

TVATA OM AH HUM PHAT SVAHA (3x)
Obedient agent dakini with very fearsome sea monster face, from your
eyes, the great re of the kalpa blazes. From your nostrils, the sound
of thunder rolls. From your mouth, a hail of blood pours forth. When
pleased, you collect the ocean in the sky. When angry, you throw the
sun and moon down to the plains. When you laugh, Mount Meru
cracks into sand.
Also, you lion-faced cannibal: from your mouth, a black swirling wind
of disease and poison lls the sky. You toss about corpses and the four
auspicious things in the ten directions. Surrounded by an assembly of
female spirits, mantra born, eld born and messengers, as well as owners of diseases, you are the guardian of those who keep their pledges,
and a butcher, taking the life of those who break them.
Come and take the torma of the tsogs left-overs. Completely drink the
heart blood of those who destroy the Buddhas doctrine and threaten
the gurus body, and of all the harm-givers at this holy place. For this
assembly of us, practitioners, destroy all misfortunes and hindrances.
For all supreme and common attainments, quickly perform the accomplishing actions.
Bestow on us practitioners and those around us good health, long life,
power, glory, fame and fortune. May we obtain extensive wealth. Grant
us the accomplishment of the actions of peace, increase, power and
wrath. Please, protectors, protect us by your commitments and always
assist us.
Pacify untimely death, sickness, harm and interferences. Eliminate bad
dreams, ill omens and unwholesome actions. May all beings be happy
and the year good. May all harvests be abundant and the Dharma
ourish. May all good fortune come about. May all wishes be fullled.
By the force of this great act of giving for the sake of all sentient beings,
may I attain full enlightenment. May all those beings who have not
been liberated by the buddhas of former times, through the practice of
giving, be liberated.

Appendix I
Tsog Offering to Palden Lhamo
(Bless the tsog offering substances in the same way as the inner offering.)
From the celestial mansion of Dharmakayas great bliss, in front, in
the self-luminous space, is the most kind root guru having the aspect
of Vajradhara. Peacefully shining with the marks and signs, clouds of
lamas of the oral transmission and uncountable lamas of the lineage
of practice protect from samsaras and nirvanas fears by being remembered. Merely hearing their names leads all transmigrators to temporal
and ultimate happiness. Come here and accept this tsog offering. To
us, the faithful ones assembled here, all the supreme and common accomplishments please bestow right now.
OM GURU SARVA BUDDHA BODHISATTVA GHANA TSAKRA SAMAYA SHRI AH HUM
From the holy place of pure sky-enjoyments, the yidam Vajrayogini,
the four dakinis of the four families, the eight heroines protecting
the doors and directions, and the heroines of the twenty-four places,
together with millions of dakinis, come here and accept this tsog
offering. To us, the faithful ones assembled here, all the supreme and
common accomplishments please bestow right now.
OM VAJRA VARAHI SARVA VIRA YOGINI GHANA TSAKRA SAMAYA SHRI AH HUM
From the Muleiding ocean and the Victorious Dharma-Wheel Monastery, glorious souvereign Lady of the desire realm, goddesses of
the four types of actions, the two agents with the different faces, the
doctrine protector Owner of the Assembly and retinue, a hundred
thousand black females, a thousand esh eaters and ten million blood
drinkers, come here and accept this tsog offering. To us, the faithful
ones assembled here, all the supreme and common accomplishments
please bestow right now.
OM KALIDEVI SAPARIWARA GHANA TSAKRA SAMAYA SHRI AH
HUM
Look! It is not right to doubt this wonderful holy Dharma. Be merry
and meditate on brahmins, dogs and lower castes as one and non-dual.
He! All phenomena are pure, free from clinging and grasping, and
without the stain of desire. I prostrate to Suchness itself.

I shall liberate all sentient beings,
To lead them to an enlightened state,

Naturally polished as is lapis lazuli.
And may all of space be completely lled
With the material offerings of gods and men,
Both these set before me and those mentally created
As a peerless cloud of Samantabhadra offerings.
From the heart of the Lord of Tushitas hundred gods,
Floating on white clouds piled like fresh curds,
O Dharma King, Omniscient Lobsang Drakpa,
Please come here together with your sons!
In space before us, on Lion throne - lotus - moon,
Sits the Holy Lama with beautiful smiling face,
Supreme eld of merit for my mind of faith,
Please stay one hundred eons to spread the Teaching!
Your mind pure genius, spanning the whole of knowledge
Your speech eloquent, jewel for the lucky ear,
Your body beautiful, shining with fames glory,
I bow to You so meaningful to see, hear and remember!
Various delightful offerings of owers and perfumes,
Incenses, bright lights, and pure sweet waters
This ocean of offering-clouds presented and imagined
I offer to You, O highest eld of merit!
All sins I did commit with body, speech and mind,
Collected through evolution from beginningless time,
Especially all transgressions of the three vows,
I confess each one, ercely repenting with all my heart!

In this dark age, You strove for knowledge and realization


Abandoned the eight obsessions and realized the great value
Of the human life with freedom and opportunity,
O Lord, we rejoice sincerely at Your prodigious deeds!
Pray, O Holy Perfect Lamas, in the Truth Bodys sky,
Mass Your clouds of love and wisdom,
And pour down upon the land of deserving disciples,
Great rains of the profound magnicent Dharma!
By whatever virtue I have gathered here,
The Buddhas Teaching, whatever benets all beings,
And especially the Teaching of Holy Lobsang Drakpa,
May their essence shine forever!
The ground with scent is blessed and with owers strewn
Adorned with Mount Meru, the Four Lands, the Sun and the
Moon
Transformed as a Pure Land and then offered
May all wondering beings enjoy this Buddha realm.

Foundation of Excellence
Seeing that the kind, holy (guru) is the foundation of good qualities,
and that proper reliance on him is the root of the path, I ask blessing to
rely on him with great respect (born) of constant effort.
Knowing the rarity and great signicance of this (human body) that is
the wonderful basis of an opportunity obtained just once, I ask blessing to generate uninterruptedly, all day and night, the mind that takes
up what is essential (to attain Buddhahood).
Remembering that death will swiftly destroy my wavering body and
life, which are like bubbles on a stream, and gaining rm recognition that the effects of my white and black actions will follow me after
death like a bodys shadow, I ask blessing to take care always to avoid
even the subtlest fault and to accomplish all that is virtuous.
Aware of the disadvantages of worldly goods - (for they are) unsatisfying when consumed, untrustworthy, and the door to all suffering - I
ask blessing to generate the great striving: for the bliss of liberation.

great warlord who subdues devils I pay respect.


Outside, you are the very destroyer of enemies, interferers and evil
beings. Inside, you give uncontaminated great bliss to the Destroyer of
the Lord of Death. To you mother of the conquerors I reverently offer
respect.
You are the life-tree of Buddhas doctrine, the only sister of all pandits,
siddhas and holders of the doctrine, and mother of all transmigrators
who follow the doctrine. To you, relative of the Doctrine, one-pointedly I offer respect.
Although gone beyond the world, you remain in the ways of the world.
In order to subdue the evil ones, you use wrath against their anger.
For the peaceful ones, you show peaceful ways. Goddess leader of the
world, to you I offer respect.
Please strive for the sake of the Doctrine and the transmigrators. From
this life and in al lifetimes, to us yogis who have taken refuge in you,
bestow your motherly love and sisterly affection.
With as many bodies as there are atoms in the world and with the
greatest faith, we make respectful prostrations to you and praise you
with every praise that is worthy of you.

BHYOH / A mountain-like heap of human esh, a swirling ocean of
blood, enjoy this torma of samaya substances!
The interferers and enemies with broken pledges, the hosts of harmful
beings and evil spirits, lead your army of demons against these enemies! Remati Parvati, lead your armies forward! To form the armies,
hoist the banner!
Increase the Doctrine, our life-span and retinue right now. Subdue the
three realms. Expand explanations, accomplishments and wealth.

Offering Respect
BHYOH / Ruler of the ten grounds, although you have fully pacied
your anger, for the purpose of subduing, you show the four types of
action. From the moment of acting, you give unshakable bliss. To you,
consort of the Destroyer of the Lord of Death, I offer respect.
Great protectress of the Doctrine, unremittently working to spread
Buddhas teachings, unable to forget the pledge you made previously in
front of the Victorious Ones, to you I offer respect.

induced by that pure thought (renouncing cyclic existence and striving for liberation).
Seeing that, just as I have fallen into the ocean of cyclic existence, so
too have all transmigrating beings who have been my mothers, I ask
blessing to develop the supreme thought of enlightenment which takes
on the burden of liberating transmigrating beings.
Seeing that if I generate just the thought (of enlightenment) and do
not cultivate the three types of (bodhisattva) morality, I will not attain
enlightenment, I ask blessing to train assiduously in the vows of the
Conquerors children (bodhisattvas).
I ask blessing to generate quickly in my mind stream the union of
calm abiding and insight, through pacifying (a mind) that strays
toward false objects, and investigating properly the ultimate object
(emptiness).
When I have become a (suitable spiritual) vessel, trained in the common (Perfection Vehicle) path, I ask blessing happily to enter the highest of all vehicles, the Vajrayana, the holy crossing-boat for fortunate
beings.
Gaining then genuine certainty (that I must guard) the pure (tantric)
vows that are the foundation of accomplishing (mundane and transmundane) attainments, I ask blessing to guard (these vows) at the risk
of my life.
Understanding then the essentials of the (generation and completion)
stages that are the heart of the (four) classes of tantra, I ask blessing to
practice according to the teachings of the Holy Ones, without neglecting to practice yoga in four sessions (daily).
May virtuous (teachers) who show the good path and friends who
practice it properly have a long life. I ask blessing swiftly to pacify
outer and inner hindrances.
In all my lives, may I never be apart from the perfect master, and may
I enjoy the splendor of the Dharma. Having perfected the good qualities of the (ten bodhisattva) levels and the (ve) paths, may I quickly
obtain the rank of Vajradhara.

In the center of a great ocean of blood and melted fat is a black tornado. In its very center is the blood-thirsty one, eating warm human
esh. To you the Owner of Life, chief Lady of the eight groups, I offer
respect.
By stamping your feet, the three worlds are shaken amidst thunderous
sounds. From afar your HUM HUM laughter destroys Mount Meru. In
one wrathful moment you destroy the enemies of the Doctrine. To you

AHs, comes a grate of human heads. On top of these, from AH, comes
a white skull-cup. Inside it, in the east, from BHRUM, comes the esh
of a bull marked with GO. In the south, from AM, comes the esh of
a dog marked with KU. In the west, from JRIM, comes the esh of an
elephant marked with DA. In the north, from KHAM, comes the esh
of a horse marked with HA. In the center, from HUM, comes the esh
of a human marked with NA.
In the south-east, from LAM, comes feces marked with VI. In the
south-west, from MAM, comes blood marked with RA. In the northwest, from PAM, comes white bodhicitta marked with SHU. In the
north-east, from TAM, comes marrow marked with MA. In the center,
from BAM, comes urine marked with MU.

(You who are Avalokiteshvara, Great Treasure of inconceivable Compassion; who are Manjushri, Master endowed with stainless Wisdom,
and Vajrapani, destroyer of all the hosts of Mara; Lama Tsongkhapa,
jewel ornament on the heads of all learned scholars of the Land of
Snow, Sumati Kirti: to You I bow down and make request.)

Guru Yoga
Glorious, kind, precious root Lama
Please take your seat on my heart lotus,
Look after me with your great kindness,
Grant me your powers of body, speech and mind!

Meditate on the death process. Dharmakaya meditation Sambhogakaya:
arise as a blue shaft of light on lotus and moon. Nirmanakaya : Instantaneously, arise as Yamantaka.

On top of this are a white OM, a red AH and a blue HUM stacked one
atop the other. From the HUM at my heart, light rays emanate, striking
the wind. This makes the wind move, the re blaze and the substances
in the skull-cup melt and boil. From the three syllables, light rays emanate in order, hooking back Vajra Body, Vajra Speech and Vajra Mind,
which dissolve into the three syllables, in order. These then fall into the
skull-cup and melt. By means of the HUM, the faults of colour, odour
and potential are cleansed. By means of the AH, it is transformed into
nectar. By means of the OM, it increases and becomes huge.

I offer this torma, which is composed of the ve nectars, such as esh
and blood, and mixed with the ve types of grain, to Shri Devi Parvati.
Please accept it in order to protect the doctrine of the Victorious Ones.
From HUMs in the tongues of the Glorious Goddess and her entourage, arise red one-spoked vajras with straws of light, which suck the
essence of the torma, which is thus consumed.

Blessing the Offerings

BHYOH / Although you are one with Vajradhara, the root and lineage
gurus, and the great bliss of the Dharmakayas sphere, you the goddess
performing the actions of the omniscient ones, we praise you as one of
the gurus of the oral tradition.
Instantaneously born, real great bliss of the sphere of space, manifesting countless bodies of form, you the mother of all the Victorious Ones, we praise you as essence of the mandala deities of the four
classes of tantra.
Completely perfected buddha with the three spontaneous bodies,
pacifying holy Dharma, inseparable abandonment and realization,
chief of the exalted assembly with liberating knowledge and fully gone
beyond, we praise you as object of refuge, the three jewels.
You the goddess who, following Kasyapas doctrine, by making prayers
simultaneously with the Relative of the Sun, became in this world the
protectress and propagator of the Buddhas doctrine, we praise you as
principal among all protectors of the precepts.
Controller of the dakinis of the three places, eld-born, instantaneously born and mantra-born, you the goddess who lets fall an unimpeded
rain of siddhis, we praise you as principal of all dakinis.
You the mistress of all the three worlds, controlling the desire realm
and making the eight groups your servants, chief of all protectors
of this world and beyond, we praise you as mistress of all appearing
worlds.
We entrust ourselves to you and praise you as protectress of masters,
disciples, people, wealth and monasteries. From now on, until the essence of enlightenment is attained, never cease to perform the actions
of the omniscient ones.
Please bestow upon us right now all the common accomplishments.
Glorious Goddess, please increase the Teachings, our wealth and our
retinue.

Everything is void. From a state of voidness, from AHs, come
broad and expansive skull-cups, inside of which are HUMs. The
HUMs melt and become water for the mouth, cooling water
for the feet, perfume, owers, incense, a butter lamp, food and music.
By nature they are bliss and voidness. In aspect, they are the offering
substances. Their function is to confer distinguished, uncontaminated bliss as
objects to be enjoyed by the six senses.

comes a blue bow-shaped
wind mandala marked with

RAM, comes a red triangular

from AHs, comes a grate of
human heads. On top of these,
from AH, comes a white skullcup. Inside it, in the east, from
BHRUM, comes the esh of a
bull marked with GO. In the
south, from AM, comes the
esh of a dog marked with KU. In the west, from JRIM, comes the esh of an
elephant marked with DA. In the north, from KHAM, comes the esh of a
horse marked with HA. In the center, from HUM, comes the esh of a human
marked with NA.

Everything is void. From the sphere of voidness, from YAM, comes a


blue bow-shaped wind mandala marked with banners. On top of this,
from RAM, comes a red triangular re mandala. On top of that, from

On top of this are a white OM, a red AH and a blue HUM stacked one atop
the other. From the HUM at my heart, light rays emanate, striking the wind.
This makes the wind move, the re blaze and the substances in the skull-cup
melt and boil. From the three syllables, light rays emanate in order, hooking
back Vajra Body, Vajra Speech and Vajra Mind, which dissolve into the three
syllables, in order. These then fall into the skull-cup and melt. By means of
the HUM, the faults of colour, odour and potential are cleansed. By means of
the AH, it is transformed into nectar. By means of the OM, it increases and
becomes huge.

BHYOH / Although your nature, appearing with such varied characteristics, has no concrete existence, you still benet transmigrators
with your four actions. By thoroughly praising you with full attention,
may I also spontaneously achieve the state of the four actions and, like
you, strive to benet migrating beings.

and strike the BHYOH at Shri Devis heart. Without choice, she is compelled to

names of the offerings, adorned with a zero. They melt and from that arise
precious offering substances in order to please the Glorious Goddess and
her entourage. The diversity of the offerings is inconceivable. They arise and
increase in the presence of the Glorious Goddess and her entourage.

To the goddesses of the four seasons, the ve Long-Life Sisters, the
twelve Tenma, who protect the land of Tibet, the country gods and the
landlords, OM AH HUM.

The Four Actions


BHYOH / The four types of action are mind itself. They do not exist
apart from mind and mind does not exist. Ultimately, there are no distinctions and neither do color nor form exist. The Glorious Goddess
of Peace, in accordance with our needs, miraculously shows the four
actions as mere illusions. Principal Lady amidst a peaceful assembly,
distinguished by a very brilliant white body; you have pacied, will
pacify and are in a pacifying mood. I prostrate to her who always pacies. Please pacify my illnesses, evil spirits and interferences.
BHYOH / The four types of action are mind itself. They do not exist
apart from mind and mind does not exist. Ultimately, there are no distinctions and neither do color nor form exist. The Glorious Goddess
of development, in accordance with our needs, miraculously shows
the four actions as mere illusions. Principal Lady amidst a developing
assembly, distinguished by a very magnicent yellow body; you have
developed, will develop and are in a developing mood. I prostrate to
her who always develops. Please increase my life span and develop my
merits.
BHYOH / The four types of action are mind itself. They do not exist
apart from mind and mind does not exist. Ultimately, there are no distinctions and neither do color nor form exist. The Glorious Goddess
of Conquest, in accordance with our needs, miraculously shows the
four actions as mere illusions. Principal Lady amidst a conquering assembly, distinguished by a very sensual red body; you have conquered,
will conquer and are in a conquering mood. I prostrate to her who
always conquers. Please conquer all beings of the three realms.
BHYOH / The four types of action are mind itself. They do not exist
apart from mind and mind does not exist. Ultimately, there are no
distinctions and neither do color nor form exist. The Glorious Goddess of Wrath, in accordance with our needs, miraculously shows
the four actions as mere illusions. Principal Lady amidst a terrifying
assembly, distinguished by a very erce black body; you have terried,
will terrify and are in a terrifying mood. I prostrate to her who always
terries. Please with your wrath, eliminate my sicknesses, evil spirits,
enemies and misfortunes.

Generation of the Dharma Protectors

Everything is void. From the sphere of voidness, in front, in the
center of a great agitated ocean of esh and blood is a tent-shaped
black tornado. Inside it is an orange-coloured young mule with a
white spot on its forehead and equipped with saddle and bridle. On
top of this, from BHYOH, arises Remati, Glorious Queen of War and
Ritualistic Power.
(In all the other sessions, skip one paragraph and continue with She has a
dark-blue body, etc.)
In front, in the center of a great-agitated ocean of esh and blood, is a tentshaped black tornado. Inside it is an orange-coloured young mule with a
white spot on its forehead and equipped with saddle and bridle. On top of
this is seated Remati, Glorious Queen of War and Ritualistic Power.
She has a dark-blue body, one face and two arms. Her right hand
brandishes a club. Her left hand holds the skull-cup of an incest-born
child at her heart. She has a complete set of ornaments and is surrounded by a multitude of devils, Lords of Death, cannibal demons,
eld protectors and others.
The principal Lady and all those around her are marked by OM at
their crown, AH at their throat and HUM at their heart. From the
HUM at my own heart, light rays go out, which invoke instantly from

the great Muleiding Ocean in the northeast, the Lady of the Desire Realm,
Remati, Glorious Queen of War and Ritualistic Power, to this very place.
BHYOH / Magnicent Remati of the Nyen spirits, guarding the
Doctrine with war and magic, in the presence of Vajradhara you
accepted to protect the teachings. Previously, during the rst kalpa,
you established your residence in the northeastern direction, beyond
many countries without any grass, water or trees, in the red northern
plains called Kyochepa. There are meandering red northern paths and
terrifying red northern mountains. Many wild animals run around.
Demonic birds send forth their cries. There are continuous storms
with hail, thunder and snowakes like conch-shells.
Inside the Muleiding Ocean is a square, brown mansion. Its four
corners are made of precious brown chong stone. The wall ornament
below the roof is made of blue turquoise. The foundation is made of
black iron. Corpses of humans and horses are scattered about. There is
an lake full of human and horse blood. It is completely surrounded by
a host of one hundred thousand mamos, one hundred thousand esh
eaters and ten million blood drinkers. Inside this celestial mansion
resides the Mistress of all Mamos.
BHYOH / Magnicent Remati of the Nyen spirits, from your crown
and from your womb, the sun and the moon emit blazing light rays. Irresistible Black Lady with magic powers, Sovereign Lady of the desire
realm, the moment to honour your pledge has come. Come here now.
(Play all your instruments and burn incense.)

Black Lady, erce and proud, who displays an all-pervading form,
chief of the Black Ladies, riding a mule, come here and take your place
on your mules seat.
DZA HUM BAM HO
Black cannibal with fangs, black Lady laughing HA HA, you who
enjoy to kill, I pay homage to you.
Although you have achieved the three bodies spontaneously and your
compassion is fully developed, yet you manifest in wrathful form, in
order to subdue the evil of the three worlds. Great protectress of the
Doctrine of the Victorious Ones of the three times, I prostrate to you
in great faith with my three doors.

As we have pleased you and repaired our broken pledges, please eliminate obstacles and grant accomplishments.
Furthermore, we offer to Shri Devi all things needed as conditions to
protect the Doctrine. Never cease to protect the Teachings.
We offer all things needed as conditions to protect the monasteries and to expel the evil ones with broken pledges. The enemies who
possess the mind and all interferers, those who harm the monasteries,
destroy (clap hands) them in one instant.
May the teachers, students and monasteries receive all the things they
need. By the actions of Shri Devi, may this happen effortlessly and
spontaneously.

Offering the Appeasing Torma


I offer this torma, which is composed of the ve nectars, such as esh
and blood, and mixed with the ve types of grain, to Shri Devi Parvati.
Please accept it in order to protect the doctrine of the Victorious Ones.
From HUMs in the tongues of the Glorious Goddess and her entourage, arise red one-spoked vajras with straws of light, which suck the
essence of the torma, which is thus consumed.

A vibrating drinking offering of slowly boiling blood; voluptuous
and deceitful owers of the senses, that kill instantly; clouds of black
smoke and particles from burning corpses; with these, Queen Parvati
and your retinue, may your holy mind be pleased.
Human fat ignited by tongues of re soaring to samsaras peak; waves
of blood, bile and urine agitated like a summer ocean; heaps of esh,
bones and corpses, delicious food of gods; with these, Queen Parvati
and your retinue, may your holy mind be pleased.
Thighbone trumpets, various kinds of music, like a rolling thunder;
moving banners and black silk scarves, symbols of invitation; a drink
of blood and wine with great power to bring someone quickly; with
these, Queen Parvati and your retinue, may your holy mind be pleased.
Three thousand roaming supreme horses, with decorated saddles and
bridles; wild yaks, yaks and long-haired goats, moving like rain clouds;
sheep with four coiled horns and black birds; with these, Queen Parvati and your retinue, may your holy mind be pleased.
Fierce black dogs, moving like jackals; yellow asses and mules, adorned
with snakes and raksha heads and skins; clubs, skulls of children born
from incest, human skins and tiger skin skirts; with these, Queen Parvati and your retinue, may your holy mind be pleased.
Dry and dripping garlands, bone ornaments and ointments; clothes of
black goats hair, earrings of lion and snake; bags of diseases, branding sticks, black and white balls of thread, and dice; with these, Queen
Parvati and your retinue, may your holy mind be pleased.
Peacock umbrellas, ornaments of sun and moon; black tent-shaped
tornados, pools of diseases; thick armours and sharp weapons; with
these, Queen Parvati and your retinue, may your holy mind be pleased.
Tormas of samaya substances heaped like mountains; medicine, a
swirling ocean of drinking blood; all the nest treasures of gods and
men; with these, Queen Parvati and your retinue, may your holy mind
be pleased.
Corpses of crows and incest-born babies, stuffed with life-mantra
circles and other substances; supreme outer, inner, secret and suchness offerings, which truly fulll you, well-born Sarasvati; with these,
Queen Parvati and your retinue, may your holy mind be pleased.

Initiation
From the HUM at my heart, light rays go out, invoking the empowering deities. I request them, Please bestow upon her the actual initiation. Being thus
requested, they hold aloft vases of transcendental wisdom nectar and confer
the initiation by saying,

All the bodily obscurations are puried. The remaining water on her crown
transforms into Vajrabhairawa with Mother, who becomes her crown ornament.

with single-pointed devotion and strong grief, to you Glorious Goddess and your retinue, I confess all improperly done recitations and
practices.
Whatever sins I have committed in previous times with my three
doors under the power of ignorance, in front of your spontaneously
arisen three bodies, I confess with strong concentration of my body,
speech and mind.
To you, the goddess and your retinue, treasure of compassion, like a
mother who loves her naughty child, protecting us yogis without ever
forsaking, I confess all the times I did not thank you.
I confess all the times I granted initiation to and protected with love
the enemies of my guru and the enemies of the Doctrine, those evil
beings who cause mischief to the doctrine-holders and all beings.
In short, we confess with strong regret all our deeds that, motivated by
ignorance, disagree with your body, speech and mind, such as offerings polluted by substances of broken samaya.
Although the act of confessing and what is confessed are not really
seen, in order to purify the stains of the conception grasping at true
existence, I make confession to the Glorious Goddess and her retinue.
May this cleanse all degenerations and delements.

essence of all body, speech, mind, qualities and enlightened
actions of all tathagatas of the ten directions and the three
times; who is the source of the eighty-four thousand teachings
and master of the whole community of exalted beings, OM
AH HUM.
To the mouth of the great Vajradhara, all-pervasive conqueror,
OM AH HUM.
To the mouth of the lineage gurus, such as the Red Acharya,
OM AH HUM.
To the mouth of my precious root guru, the supreme scholar,
glorious and noble [Geshe Senge], OM AH HUM.
To the mouth of my root guru who is wise in explaining,
OM AH HUM.
Furthermore, to the mouth of the holy gurus who give initiations,
explain tantra, and give oral instruction, the fathers, sons and
lineage gurus, OM AH HUM.
To the mouth of the yidams of the four great classes of tantra and
the mandala deities, OM AH HUM.

Offering the [Welcoming] Torma


I offer this torma, which is composed of the ve nectars,
such as esh and blood, and mixed with the ve types
of grain, to Shri Devi Parvati. Please accept it in order to
protect the doctrine of the Victorious Ones.
From HUMs in the tongues of the Glorious Goddess and her
entourage, arise red one-spoked vajras with straws of light,
which suck the essence of the torma, which is thus consumed.

Inner Offering

Seven Limb Prayer


BHYOH / Magnicent Goddess, you who are hard to fathom, you act
as a miraculous transformation of method throughout the limits of
space; you are an emanation of the bodhisattvas; I prostrate to you
respectfully with my body, speech and mind.
Even though you are not obscured with [any desire for] my offerings,
yet since I want to achieve the holy attainments of your magnicent
state, I cause a rain of excellent objects to fall from the sky; by these
masses of offerings, may your senses be satised.
Magnicent Lady, you are the witness of both my virtues and sins; directly to you I confess with regret the mistakes I have committed with
my body, speech and mind; by the force of your compassion, cleanse
me of my obscurations.
You are totally exalted and special; having perfectly completed the
work on yourself, you work for the sake of all transmigrators; I delight
fully in your qualities with a joy free of jealousy, and offer my rejoicing
to your mind-stream.
Your supreme body, black and noble, with its perfect qualities, looks
terrifying; for the sake of all beings wandering in the ten directions
and throughout the three times, please reveal the teachings through a
network of magical apparitions.
Your supreme body is fully endowed with such qualities; for the sake
of all beings and to safeguard the teachings, as long as space itself is
not depleted, please do not pass into nirvana, but remain forever.
I dedicate the merits of thus prostrating, offering, confessing, rejoicing, requesting and beseeching, so that the lower realms may become
empty and I may lead all beings to enlightenment.

Confession
From the HUM at my heart, light rays go out, invoking the deities of
the Three Vajra.

Blanket, please pay attention to me. To all you gurus, who are real
buddhas, I confess all actions and wrong views done by the power of
ignorance.
We confess having broken our pledges, which is an obstacle to taking
the three jewel-like bodies on the great ocean of the tantric vehicle,
which depends on the kindness of the captain, our virtuous friend.
With my unbroken pledges as a very special samaya substance,
