Today we are going to look at how we evaluate multiplechoice questions in algebra. We are

goingtouseourknowledgeofmathematicalpropertiestoeliminatedistracters.

IntheSATyoucouldbeaskedquestionsthatrelyonyourknowledgeofbasicnumberfactsand

algebraicproperties.Theseincludethepropertiesof:

o thezeroandidentitypropertiesand

o solvingequations

Thesequestionscouldbeaskedintheformofwordproblems.

WhenplayingMatch&Goyouwillhavetomatchthemultiplechoicequestionwiththe

mathematicalpropertythatwillbesthelpyoueliminatedistractersandsolvetheproblem.

Inyourgroupsyouwillhaveatotalof12multiplechoicequestionsandyouareexpectedtouseyour

knowledgeofmathematicalpropertiestosolvetheproblems.Ifyouareunabletosolvetheproblem

easily,useyourknowledgeofthepropertiestohelpyounarrowdownyourchoicesbyelimination.

Onyourgrouptablesyouhaveafolder.EachfolderhasMatch&Gogamecards.WhenIsaygo,in

yourgroups,matchthemultiplechoicequestionwiththemathematicalpropertythatbesthelpsyou

eliminatethedistracters.Onceyouhaveeliminatedthedistracters,useyourguessandcheck

strategiestosolvetheproblem.
