Khaos: Minimizing the Pollution of our Air for a Healthier Life

(An invention for the problem on air pollution)

Man continues to seek for a better way of living life. This started when they first
discovered the use of fire, their utensils which were made of primitive stone, usage of vehicle for
better transportation, and so on. The science and technology made an important role in this quest.
But then, we are not aware of being harmed with these inventions and innovations. Today, the
main problem of the Philippines and also of our world is Climate Change. Many people believe
that Climate change was primarily caused by the pollution of our air.

Air pollution are caused by the primary air pollutants found in most urban areas like
nitrogen oxides, sulfur oxides, hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide , and particulate matter from the
industrialization of society, the introduction of motorized vehicles, and the explosion of the
population. Some of these pollutants were also Green house gasses which can affect to Climate
Change and can cause serious health problems. We can reduce global air pollution by means of
minimizing the usage of the things that emits these pollutants.

The invention of Pablo Planas called Khaos super turbo charger became a possible
solution in minimizing these air pollutants. The Khaos super turbo charger is a pre-combustion
device that ensures that fuel is completely burned by feeding the right air-fuel ratio into the
engine all the time.
It contains a regulating-valve and spring- loaded (vacuum-operated) which has a mixture ratio of
15:1, 15 parts air to one part fuel close to the theoretically ideal mixture 14.5:1, 14.5 parts air to
one part fuel. An excessive mixture results to a high emission of carbon monoxide (CO) and
unburnt hydrocarbons (HC) and nitrogen oxide. Thus, Planas’ invention effectively reduces the
air pollutants. This has been used by motorists for over 30 years now and has been tested in
Audi, BMW, Chevrolet, Daihatsu, Dodge, Ford, Hyundai, Honda, Kia, Mitsubishi, Mazda,
Mercedes Benz, Nissan, Opel, Range Rover, Chrysler, Suzuki, Subaru, Toyota, Volvo and other
gasoline fed engines.

GROUP WORK DONE (during the past 3-4 weeks)

From the time we were asked to search and look for a tentative topic for our poster, with
a theme of Filipino invention/ingenuity/initiatives that may help us to address the problems
contributing to Climate Change in the Philippines and in the world, we started looking for
sources last November 23, 2009, 11:00- 1:00 pm, which is our common time to meet. We had
finalized and came up with our 3 “special topics” to be submitted on the 27 th day of November of
the same year.

On December 4, 2009, the chosen topic that was given to our group was all about air
pollution and Pablo Planas’ Khaos super turbo charger and consequently, each of the group
members were asked to search for this topic.

All the research information was gathered on the 7th day of December of the same year.
We have discussed all the research information before the start of the Christmas Break, to be
specific, on December 14, 2009. On the same day, we have decided the task of each member.
This includes who among us will make the first and the second progress report.

Last January 4, 2009, the draft of the first progress report was done and finalized. The
group also discussed the main concept of the poster, and the materials which will be used for it.
