5 THINGS I LEARNED IN ARGENTINA...
Last month, I took a 34-hour journey (wheres my bravery award?!) to
Buenos Aires. And it was love at rst sight. The buildings are beautiful
(surprising, painted in pink, green, and orange); the theatre scene
unforgettable (I even enjoyed a book in the balcony of an old theatre
thats been converted into a bookstore); and the shopping and nightlife
simply thrilling. But the biggest highlight of my trip was Cosmic 2014
Cosmos biennial conference where editors and publishers from 60
Cosmo editions come together to discuss the future of the worlds most
iconic magazine. I spent four glorious days going through eye-opening
presentations, chatting with sister editors, and jotting down tonnes of
amazing ideas. Its an understatement to say that I learned a LOT. And
for lack of a hundred or so pages Id need to write that all down, here are
just ve of the cool things I learned at Cosmic 2014...

2) BEAUTY RULES THE ROOST: If theres one thing a Cosmo
girl loves as much as her shoes, its beautyhair how-tos, makeup
tutorials, and product testing! Which is why Cosmo owns beauty in
most countries, offering you more pages and info per issue than any
other magazine.
3) WERE PHONE OBSESSED: Apparently, 90% of us wake up
and check our phone rst. We check it during meals and in the
bathroom. We spend 40% more time with friends online than in
person and we lose an average of 30 minutes of sleep because of the
Internet. Good or bad? You decide!

I was thrilled to see Cosmo's Annual

Body Survey 2014 in the May issue. It
was positive to see that while the
pressures of looking good have gone up,
more than 50 percent women are happy

much about what other people think of
their bodies and won't go under the knife

VOCATION PLEASE
I've always turned to Cosmo's career
stories for advice, and now, just when I
was toying with the idea of setting up my
own cafe, you came out with a brilliant
career series. The wisdom and foresight
of successful entrepreneurs did me more
good than months of asking around and
observing people.

changed that. Hopefully, I'll look in the

CORRIGENDUM
It has been brought to our notice that
a feature carried in February 2014,
How to Meet a Man in 2014, by
Nupur Sharma, contained
photographs and information that
were incorrectly credited to Mumtaz
Mustafa, Seher Aziz, and Aneela
Hashmi. We deeply regret this error,
and apologise for any inconvenience
caused to the concerned people.

Let Me Take a

I was with a guy at a club, and

we were heading down some
really steep stairs. I turned
around to give him a sexy look
the kind of wink you see in the
moviesand fell on my face! I
scraped my knees and everyone
was laughing at me, but I think
he might have liked me even
more for it.
ISHITA L., 28

I hooked up with a guy at a party

once. I was drunk and told him I was
British, and spoke in a fake accent all
night. The next day, I was with my
school friends and talking in Hindi. He
stormed up and confronted me about
not being English.

I have a first-date routine:

always the same restaurant

saw the last guy Id gone out
with at my restaurant...on
his own date. He stole my
routine!
VRINDA M., 25

I love the beach, so when my

husband and I married and moved in
together, he said we should decorate
with a nautical theme. I hung shells,
fish patterns, and cool beach portraits
one afternoon while he was out. Turns
out, when he meant nautical, he
meant, like shades of blue. It turned
out to be a complete bummer, and he
hated it!DEEKSHA K., 34

We were out for dinner at a

fancy restaurant when a guy Id
just started seeing leaned across
the table. I thought he was going
to kiss me, but he put his mouth
to mine and passed a piece of
foodI think it was a

almost threw up!

My girlfriend was
having an Appendicitis

was just complaining
about cramps, so I didnt
take her to the hospital
at first. Eventually, I did,
but there was a lot of
making up to do.

The Constellation family has long been admired
for its elegant yet understated design, and with
the introduction of OMEGAs Constellation
Pluma, the collection is enriched with
timepieces combining a state-of-the-industry
mechanical movement with exquisite styling.
Among the most striking design elements of
these 27 mm models are their mother-of-pearl
dials that are available in natural white, gold,
champagne and blue. The blue dial is created by
coating the underside of a white mother-ofpearl piece with black paint. A soft, wavy pattern
cast from the iconic claws on the bezel is

Woof!

Admit it, youve just spent two minutes awwing over these costume-savvy dogs. This fluffy
trend started with NYC photographer Paul
Nathans coffee table book called Couture
Dogs Of New Yorka documentation of the
citys best-dressed dogs, their owners, and
the couturiers who make their one-of-a-kind
outfits that cost about the same as a pair of
Louboutins! And its now spread the world
over. We arent kiddingthese bespoke
doggy outfits are fashion week-worthy. Heres
to more (stylish) puppy power!

Do you think

Tran believes a PU is invaluable for
important meetings. A cropped top
and high-waisted skirt always makes
me feel a little bit like Joan from
Mad Men, she says. For a powerful
go-to look of your own, follow this
easy formula...

Step1:
FIND YOUR OWN
PERSONAL STYLE
Whether you like edgy, girlie or
indie, take time to think about the
image you want to project, says
Pecoraro. Take Alexa Chungshes
always in a really preppy style with
a tomboy twist, such as a dress with
brogues, she explains. Dont be
afraid to experiment until youve
found the right vibe.

Step2:
PICK FLATTERING
SHADES+SHAPES
Choose a colour family and
silhouettes that suit you (and keep
these in mind when shopping). That
way, when you go to your wardrobe,
you know itll all go together, says
Pecoraro. Lara Bingle does this
wellyoull often see her wearing
head-to-toe black, and she sticks to
very structured shapes that show off
her curves.

Step3:
CREATE A UNIQUE
CALLING CARD
Figure out what your best feature
is and work around enhancing
that. Like fashion blogger Elle
Fergusonshe has such amazing
legs and has become known for her

denim cut-offs, says Pecoraro.

Cara Delevingne is always

how Victoria Beckham has amassed
a befty collection of pencil skirts?
Well, its no accidentits called
a Personal Uniform (PU), and its
becoming increasingly common
among fashions elite. Our very
own style star, Sonam Kapoor, is
another example of how a default

unmistakable. You know how you
look at something like a menswear
suit, and imagine her wearing
it well? According to stylist Jess
Pecoraro, we could all do with a
PUnot only does it make you
memorable, its also convenient. It
makes life easier, says Pecoraro.
Sometimes you wake up and think,
I so cant be bothered. Rather than
running around trying on all these
things, its good to have a uniform
you can go to that you know always
suits you. So how do you create
one? Fashion blogger Jessica Tran
says its all about working out what
looks good on you. Ive developed
my Personal Uniform over time,
reveals Tran. Its essentially

BUTT!
Spurious, sure. But entertaining...hells yeah!

Cosmo: Care to comment on the

rumours youve been
enhanced?
KKB: Total nonsense. Im 100
percent natural awesomeness, and
have been for over three decades.
The only artificial thing Ill allow in
my vicinity is Scott Disicks sincerity. I
have to do, like, a dozen squats to get
the strength up.
Cosmo: So whose decision was it
to get X-rays to prove youre real?
KKB: Kimmy and I discussed it. We

even went to see a rumpologistlike,

a butt psychic. We decided it was the
only way to silence the gossip. I was sick
of being the butt of every joke.
Cosmo: Do you have a fave outfit?
KKB: I like a miniskirt. Its breezier, you
know? Pants make me feel a little
claustrophobic. Since North came along,
Im happy with anything that provides
coverage. I love the front row, but I saw
things that day that cant be unseen.
Cosmo: Whats Kanye like?
KKB: Ill be honest...sometimes we
hang out behind Kims back.
Cosmo: That motorbike ride in
Bound 2 was hot...
KKB: That bike was more uncomfortable
than Mileys VMA performance, then
I see the final cut and I didnt even get a
cameoRight Boob got all the airtime!
I mean, Im bigger than Kanyes ego, and
I cant even get a lousy money shot?
It sucks b*lls.

ADVERTORIAL

Wherever taste meets expertise, one name stands out: Pierre Balmain. The brand is now in the spotlight for its new
complementary collection, Miss Balmain II. The figure II clearly indicates its close relationship with Miss Balmain, evident from
the rectangular case, central fastener, svelte silhouette and harmonious dial. However, the Saint-Imier firms designers have
allowed the newcomers more freedom and to develop more sophistication and maturity. Miss Balmain II is available in a silvered
dial decorated with classical arabesque motifs, white mother-of-pearl or a black dial. Imposing Roman numerals sometimes
adorn 12 oclock and 6 oclock. The case is in steel or two-tone PVD, releasing a cascade of 42 diamonds down the side.

Personalise Your
Eight distinct fashion designers + five summer-friendly shorts = too-cool-forschool denim DIY ideas, only in Cosmo! By Meher Bajwa

Denim shorts,
Forever 21, `639

Created by:
Pankaj & Nidhi

The idea was to

make shorts that are
big on style. Weve
worked with gold
hearts and cool,
matching
suspenders.
DIY STEPS
TIP: The easiest way to turn a
regular pair of shorts into an insta
glam outtadd gold!
STEP #1: Use a stencil of hearts,

spades, diamonds, and clubs to

cut out 300-350 intricate pieces

of different sizes, from gold felt

fabric.
STEP #2: Use a glue gun to
stick the felt cut-outs in an
interesting pattern around the
shorts. You could go heavy with the

embellishment (like above) or keep

it simple with just a smattering
along the pockets.
STEP #3: Create a pair of
embellished suspenders as cool
element.

STEP #1: To fray the
endssnip the fabric
and pull at the stitches.
Then wash the shorts and
dry them twice. Fringed
shorts ready!

I wanted to make the shorts

edgier with leather, tribal
detailing on the back, and
frayed edges on the pockets
and linings.

STEP #2: For appliqu

work, use a pressing sheet.
Lay the appliqu pattern
at on an ironing board
and place a pressing sheet
over it. Peel the paper
off the appliqu pieces,
and fuse as you go. Allow
to cool for a few seconds
after youre done.

DIY S
STEP #1: This is a great
idea if you like minimal
detailing, and orals. Find
a printed fabric in pastel,
summer colours.
STEP #2: Cut narrow
strips of the fabric, and
stitch it on to line the
edge of the back pocket,
to cover the label on
the waist band, and add
patches on the linings.
STEP #3: Stitch on little

dots with some silk thread

to make a fun motif on
the other pocket, and add
fabric tassels to the ends.

Add little elements that

personalise your shorts according
to your style. The print patches,
limited-edition label, and edging,
are central to Pros typical theme.

STEP #1: Use a pair of
scissors and a round or
V-shaped stencil to mark
out the borders where you
want to cut the shorts.

We wanted to combine our past

and present. The patches represent
what the brand is right now, and
the treatment of the shorts (cutting
the edges etc), traces back to what
we liked in school!

STEP #2: Pick a mix

of different fabrics and
prints to stitch onto your
shorts. They could even
be fabric posters of your
favourite lms!
STEP #3: Extra grunge
element: use shnet
material to create faux
pockets on the back!

TIP: Find a geometric
pattern that appeals to
you. It could be a hexagon,
a pentagon, triangles, or
stars!
STEP #1: Buy tiny
plastic round beads in
three different colours,
and a few metres of thick
wool thread.
STEP #2: Stitch the
beads onto the shorts in
the pattern you chose,
using a thin black thread.
Mix and match the colours!

come from our Beehive Yourself
collection for summer. Its all
about geometric patterns like

NAILS
Love eye-catching nails? New trends and technologies
are now literally at your fingertips!

ail art has been huge

for a few seasons now,
but this season, digits
will be dipping back into classic
creams (hooray!). Decals and
add-ons will give way to a more
simplistic (but still very
impactful) approach, and manis
will last longer than ever, thanks
to genius do-it-yourself gels and
clever curing techniques, which
ensure that your nails get better
with more wear. Yes, really!
Read on for the sharp shooters.

THE CREAM COMEBACK

Shimmer and glitter have had their turn in the spotlight, and now its creams time
to shine again. Rich wines, plums, burgundies, ivories and beiges is what all the
people in the know will be wearing this season.

All that glitters

Though were crazy for creams, we still enjoy a bit of bling here and there.

quizzed her for advice on things youve been asking
Cosmo. Heres her list of ultimate dos and donts...

DO indulge in your favourite

We all have cravings, right? I eat what I crave, and then I

I think it works out really well. Because if I didnt, Id

honestly waste a stupid amount of time thinking about it, and

obsessing over it. Id rather eat, be happy, and then not indulge
for a few weeks.

DO lie to protect a friend.

Its not just about the lying. If its something that wont
make any difference to her life, then she doesnt need to
hear it. I actually hate it when people put such hateful stuff
out thereits completely unnecessary! If I feel that its
something that could change her, and if its positive
criticism, I would tell her in that case. But otherwise,
negativity is just not needed!

DONT be afraid to ask a guy

out first.

I do it! Honestly, sometimes, there are chances and

opportunities that you will just miss if you dont go for it. I
am someone, who, if I see a chance, will go for it because I
dont wanna let anything get away, especially if its got to do
with someone I like. Why would you risk losing out? You
just need to be yourself and go for it.

DONT trust one person with

all your secrets.
I think some things can be kept to yourself. Its important
to have that control, you know, so that you arent making
yourself so vulnerable. Also, theres a beauty in being
discreet and not speaking about everything youre feeling,
all the time.

DO apologise, even when it

isnt your fault.
Im the sort of person who doesnt like negative vibes or
confrontations. Id rather say Im wrong, and get it over and
done with. I cant keep fighting over small things and

wasting timeits just not my thing. I just apologise, say its
cool, and move on.

DO freak out (a little) about

people your age, doing much
more than you.
It means you really need to start getting your act together! I
dont believe in luck. You need to be smart and think about the

who has achieved something has worked to get to
where they are. So its a good thing to be motivated to
achieve more.

DO travel as much as you can.

perspectives. A lot of prejudice in the world stems from
ignorance. Travelling will open up your mind to new

mourning the loss of a friend as well as a lover,
which will also take time to recover from.

--8DHBDEDA>I6C?JC:'%&)

UP TO 2 YEARS
We can learn lots about
ourselves after a breakup. It might seem a
long time to hurt, but
cherish it.

YEARS+

HALF TIME
After so long in this
relationship, its time
to consider where
your emotional needs
really lie.
HALF TIME
Consider why your
relationship didnt
progress. Were you or
he scared to lose your
independence?

TIME AND A HALF

Every relationship is a course on personal growth.
Carefully consider the emotional benefits of every
such commitment you enter into, even a one-night
stand. Spend time finding yourself before you
commit again.

UP TO DOUBLE TIME
You need lots of time to heal. Forget about coststhats nothing compared with
the potential distress of being married to the wrong person. Surround yourself
with a good support network. The longer youve invested in a relationship, the
longer it will take to recover from. But while some people bounce back more
quickly than others, you will get over him in your own time.

Stauffer-Kruse says: Even if you dont feel like youve fully recovered from a break-up,
at least consider putting yourself out there to meet someone new after a few months.
Consciousness is key, and its fine if you talk about your feelings to people you trust.

career
Cosmo: So, what exactly is the
role of a brand manager?
Arrtee Zutshii: As a brand manager,
your job is to sell your brand, through
marketing, public relations, customer
engagement, etc.
Vibhuti Munjal: The main objective is
to strengthen your brands positioning
in the market, as well as communicate
what it stands for, and reach out to
your customers.
Cosmo: Does one require a
formal degree to be a part of
the industry?
Arrtee Zutshii: Fashion retail as an
industry is growing very fast in India.
Every day there is a new brand that
launches in the country. So when a
brand comes to India, they look for
people who have knowledge in
fashion. It could be a full-fledged
degree, a crash course, or even some
experience in handling a brand,
whether from an agency background,
or a public relations or marketing job.
Deepika Deepti: I wouldnt say you
cant make it without a formal degree,
but having some prior knowledge of
what youre getting into gives you an
edge over others, especially if youre
straight out of college.
Shivani Goel: Yes, education does
play an important role, but we look for
people who are ready to perform right
from the first week, as there is hardly
any time for formal training or
orientation.
Cosmo: What is the most
challenging part of your job?
Shivani Goel: The most challenging
part is that whatever I do, it should all
ultimately lead to profits for the
brand. It could be as diverse as
inviting a celebrity to an event or
running a contest on Facebook, it
should result in footfalls.
Deepika Deepti: Its the evolving
fashion, which requires me to be
flexible and versatile. Since global
trends are penetrating India, I have to
be quick in spotting them and seeing
whether a particular product will
work, how we should position it, how
much money we should put aside for
promotions, what our marketing plan

Poojas advice: Learn to take ownership

and treat your job like your own baby.

Shivani explains that

a new joinee should
not be afraid to get
her hands dirty and

should be, etc.

Pooja Sharma: The biggest challenge
is holding the attention of your
customer. There are so many options
available to people today, that their
attention span is low. A brand
manager needs to grab that attention
span and hold onto it.
Vibhuti Munjal: People in India still
dont see fashion as consumable...
they want to hang on to that one
favourite garment for years, so the
challenge is making your customer
aware of the new trends, and
encouraging her to create a new
wardrobe every season.
Arrtee Zutshii: Our job is interdependent on sales, so we need to
generate, sustain and increase footfalls
to our stores.
Cosmo: What is the kind of
money one can expect to make
in this industry?
Arrtee Zutshii: On an average, with
0-six months of experience, you can
earn between 20-25K. At a mid-level
position, with five years of experience,
around 75K, and with 10 years of
experience, upto 1.5 lakhs a month.

Vibhuti spoke
about the
importance of
social media in
building a brand

Deepika Deepti: A fresher with a

management degree can look at a

annual package of about 5 lakhs, midlevel salaries would be around 15
lakhs and with 10 years of experience,
20+ lakhs per annum.
Shivani Goel: We start at around 20K
per month and can go upto 2-2.5 lakhs
a month for someone with six-seven
years of experience.
Vibhuti Munjal: 0-six months, about
25K and with 5-6 years of experience
about 2-3 lakhs per month.
Cosmo: What are the perks of
your job?
Arrtee Zutshii: I get to meet some
great people! Plus, we get 35% off our
brands, upto `15,000 per month.
Pooja Sharma: My tangible perks
include a 40% discount on the brand,
restricted to one apparel and one
accessory every month.
Deepika Deepti: Having the
opportunity to sit alongside living
legends like Jeremy Scott is the
biggest perk!
Shivani Goel: I get to travel a lot since
I handle so many brands. Plus we get
Q
25% off all merchandise.

the tips she used to climb back up the

&&'8DHBDEDA>I6C?JC:'%&)

When your boss asks you about the

lateness of a project in a meeting, you
call out your co-worker for missing a
major deadline on it. Awkward, yes,
but dont even think about apologising
to her post-meeting. If she wants to

you called a spade a spade. Ive had
meetings with people where Ive

Brag about your

accomplishments
first. Then ask for a
raise.
Talking to your boss about a raise can
be an uncomfortable conversation
just ask Brzezinski. Shes been there
and gotten shot downa few times.
Her secret weapon for success: a list.
Make a list of everything you do, how
much time it takes, and what value it
brings to the company. Research what
people in your position at other
companies make for their
accomplishments. How much value do
they bring to the table? Do you bring
more, and why? Use this list as the
basis of your conversation with your
boss, and then ask for your salary to be
increased to reflect your value.

Keep your
friends close...
and leave your
co-workers at the
office.

Remember
business is
business. Its
not personal.

Your co-worker got chosen to lead a

big project, while youre left sitting
pretty on the sidelines. Wait until you
get home to call your BFF and bitch.
If you need to, go outside and scream.
Dont let anything build up in your
mind, says Brzezinski. We constantly

the fact that while shes leading the
project, youre still part of the team.
Letting the resentment stew in your
mind just makes you less able to do
your best work.

Make yourself
visible (and
not just by
wearing
something red).
Do you need to scream at the top of
your lungs like a man and pound on
the table? No, says Brzezinski. But
you do need to find a way to call out
your accomplishments. Being excited

about your work is great. Send an

e-mail to your boss about a goal thats
been met or a deal thats been struck,
she advises. Bring attention to yourself
and dont feel uncomfortable about it.

You have colleagues. Get used to the

your friends. In tough, stressful,
competitive industries, there arent
that many friends. Get over that. Cut
the chit-chat on Gchat, the midafternoon coffee runs, or the hour-long

be amazed at how much you
accomplish in one week. And the best

WHAT MAKES THEM TICK,
TUNE IN, AND TURN ON

Farhan Akhtar:
It takes me a while to open
up to people. But when I do,
theres no holding back!

F
7nB:=:G76?L6

arhan Akhtar definitely tops

our list of most charming,
intelligent and unassuming
men in Bollywood, and hes hot
property right now! Here, he talks to
Cosmo about life, love, friendship,
and his relationship with co-star Vidya
Balan (from Shaadi Ke Side Effects).

COSMO: Whats going on with

you these days?
FARHAN AKHTAR: There are
many things are going on! I am really
looking forward to Zoyas film (Dil
Dhadakne Do). On the production
side, we are working with new
filmmakers. There will be two

debutante directors with us this year,

so thats something I feel very, very
proud of. Were introducing new
story tellers. On the music front,
theres gonna be more concerts
happening soon. I will also be
taking the MARD (Men Against
Rape and Discrimination) message
further to more colleges, and there
are some collaborations with other
musicians as well.

C: Are you a shy guy or an

outgoing kinda guy?
FA: It takes me a while to open up
to people. But when I do, theres no
holding back.

C: Whos your 4am phone

call friend?
FA: Personally, I dont know if I
have besties. I think if I had to pick
up the phone at any time of night and
call someone, Ritesh (Sidhwani),
whos my business partner, would be
the first. I wont even count people
like Zoya (Akhtar), Reema (Kagti)
and allthey are family. But I feel
probably Hrithik (Roshan) is
someone I could call. I feel
comfortable calling him if I need
something. Shah Rukh (Khan) is
another person that I could call and
Karan (Johar). These are the ones
that come to my mind.

men & you

C: Whats the coolest thing
about Vidya Balan?
FA: She is a very happy person and
I hope she stays this way! In terms of
hanging out and talking about other
things in life, it happened more while
we were promoting our film together.
Shes not vain, and is very honest in
her answersI think its very
enduring, the way she is.

Farhan started
the MARDMen
Against Rape and
Discrimination social
campaign in 2012
to create awareness
and bring about
change for women
empowerment

C: Whats your number one

relationship rule?
FA: I think the most important
thing is to be honest with yourself. To
start with, if you are not happy with
yourself, you will never be happy in a
relationship. I feel you need to tell
your partner what it is youre feeling
at every single point.
C: So theres never a point
where you think a little white lie
could help?
FA: Its about more than just white
lies. At times, things are more
stressed-related, you know, that you
dont want to burden somebody with.
So certain things, like maybe when its
a work related problem or a
relationship problem that someone
else is facingwhether its
professional or personal, that is
troubling you, you feel like you dont
need to share it with your partner
because theres just so much going
on anyway.
C: Whats the one thing youve
learned never to say to a woman?
FA: I think a thing you should
never say to women is I dont like the
way youve done your hair (laughs). I
havent tried it yet, but I have a
feeling its something you shouldnt
say. And if she asks if shes looking fat
in a dress, you say, what dress?!.
Dont comment on her, comment on
the dress (laughs).
C: And what should a woman
never say to a man?
FA: I think men are very simple.
You shouldnt say things like I hope
youve eaten enough or aur kitna

&'-8DHBDEDA>I6C?JC:'%&)

khaoge ab? You should stay away

from such judgments.

C: Whats your idea of men being

gentlemen?

Farhan and
Vidya share
fabulous
on-screen
chemistry.

FA: I think theres a certain quality

required beyond the superficial. I
think earlier, people confused it with
opening doors, letting women go first,
etc. I think today, believing that the
other person is equal to you is as
gentlemanly as you can get.
C: Whats your biggest pet peeve?
FA: I really get stressed if I cant get
in touch with somebody. Everyone
has a mobile phone these days, and at
some level I feel that a person should
be available on the phone all the time!
I am guilty of disappearing as well,
but you know, I just get so stressed
and I dont know why.
C: Farhan Akhtar is most
afraid of...
FA: I guess letting down the people
I care about. Its something I dont
Q
ever want happening.

MOVIE-STAR HAIR
Love starry styles? This month we have a huge girl crush on Blake Livelys hair. We chose
two of our favourite styles and give you the low-down on how to get them.

E
STARRYLEMRASN
STY
These products are must-haves to
get a style that looks as polished
as Blakes. Heres why:

A first of its kind,

Schwarzkopf OSiS+
Body Me is a
volumising serum
that adds blinding
shine to the hair,
but isnt oily. Its light
texture gives the
hair volume
and fullness.

LOOK 1.
This is a two-strand fish tail. Prep the hair
with OSiS+ Body Me to get that volume and
secure hair in a ponytail with a transparent
elastic. Divide the hair into two parts, blend
a strand of hair from the extreme left to the
right part, and extreme right strand to the
left part of the ponytail. Secure it with a
rubber band at the ends. Loosen the plait
slightly from both sides and finish with
OSiS+ Freeze, to tuck in that fly away hair.

COLOUR CODED

The hair colour accentuates the two

looks even more. A new way of
highlighting is to keep the roots
darker, while mid-lengths and ends
are lighter. Try darker shades of
browns or violets and then similar
tones but on a lighter level on your
lengths, such as brown with a hint of
chocolate, gold or copper, and dark
violets with red-violets.

LOOK 2.
Spray OSiS+ Blow & Go Smooth for a
smooth out curl blowdry, set the hair
with velcro rollers to define the curls
and once the rollers are set, use OSiS+
Freeze to set the fly away hair. Leave
the hair to set 8-10 minutes and then
gently remove the rollers and set with
Session Hair Spray.

** Extra tip: You can also back-comb the

crown section to get extra body on top.

If youre
looking for a
hair spray that
helps you get a
lovely blow-dry
in a blink of an
eye, then look
no further than
Schwarzkopf
OSiS+ Blow &
Go Smooth.
Plus, it also
reduces

run it over the entire style and spritz
with hair spray to fix.

The Glee actress flawlessly demonstrates a great styling

trick to hide a fringe. Just straighten hair, slick back the top

KIM KARDASHIAN

We love curls, but agree that they can get difficult

sometimes. Cop Ms Ranauts style and tame your spirals
with a pomade and setting spray, then tie them into a bun.

KARLIE KLOSS
Queen Kloss lopped off her long hair in favour of a bob
with a side-sweeping fringe. Consider this do if you have
an oval or heart-shaped face, but steer clear if youre
overly round.

J-Law bravely went short to shorter (and blonder!) with this

pixie crop. Avoid it if youre round or oval, and if you get
bored easily, as it takes a good year to grow out.

Miss Margot received mixed reports for going to the dark

side. We like it! Girls considering this change, opt for a
gradual shift and consider highlights, instead of doing it in

Kim recently enjoyed a stint as a balayaged blonde, before

CURLS

Whether you want to create them or tame them, a head of curls is a girls
best friend on the style front! By Leigh Campell

Whats in a curl?
Scientists recently figured out why curly hair grows the way it does. Armand Dimachi, Redken scalp and hair specialist, Latin
America, explains: In curly hair, the bulb at the follicle is hook shaped. So when the hair grows out of the scalp, it maintains the
curled shape. The twists can also cause the cuticle to lift and weaken. It takes longer for oils in the hair to reach the ends,
making it prone to frizz.

beauty oils and use them for my
skin and hair. Everytime I wash
my hair, I always put in a leavein product before styling. Its
a habit I follow religiously, but
I avoid anything that will weigh
down my strands. Currently, Im

EVERYDAY!
KK: This is my secret little trick to
avoiding bad hair days. I wash my
hair pretty much every day. My hair
is easy to handle, so I just blow dry
it myself. A lot of women with long

Cosmos Lunch Date with

Vidushi Mehra

A theatre actor and movie star

during the day, and avid foodie
and traveller over the weekend,
Vidushi Mehra is on our radar
this month!
You probably recognise her as Sonam
Kapoors elder sister in Aisha, and then
from pivotal roles in No One Killed Jessica
and Saath Khoon Maaf. Originally, and
still, a theatre actor, Vidushi has performed
lead roles in award-winning plays to
packed audiences all over the country. She
made the shift to films a few years ago, and
currently has everyone buzzing about her
upcoming movie, Fugly, with Jimmy
Shergill, in which she plays a TV journalist.
About her character in the film, Vidushi
says, Shes a little manipulative, but she
only does it for the truth, and ultimately
stands by what she does. Shes a gamechanger because she helps the protagonist
clear his name from a lot of things hes
accused of. Im excited about how the
audience sees me after this one! Fugly
hits theatres on June 13th. During all the
chit chat, we indulged in a fun food review
over lunch at Cafe Lota and heres
