English Language Learners. The students at the school are non-native speakers learning English in foreign environment

Unit Instructional Goals: By the end of this unit, students will know the concept of Historical Fiction. They will understand the
characteristics of a novel and the differences between prose and poetry. They will also have a basic understanding of Medieval culture,
the church, politics and economics

Guiding Questions: How can we relate medieval culture to present day?

Unit Assessment and Evaluation Method:

Formative: As students advance through the novel, they will have to prepare a PowerPoint presentation and a poster on medieval
culture they will have to choose between, the church and politics. Students will create a blog, using blogger. On this blog, they will
put daily logs on what they have read.

Summative: Students will have different quizzes during the thematic unit; they will have one written and one on

Theory: According to Blooms Taxonomy Theory, throughout the unit, students will have activities involving all of the six levels.
