Statement of Reason

I am applying for a place on the Department of Marine Life Science; Marine Bioresource
Chemistry course at the Hokkaido University-JAPAN because I am very interested in the topics
covered particularly bio-chemistry and molecular bi-functional chemistry of marine
biomolecules in these areas. My interest was first aroused during my undergraduate studies at the
Department of Aquatic Product Technology, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB)-INDONESIA.
I studied a lot of basic technological processes / bioprocess fisheries and marine raw materials
into products / bio product which has a high selling value. One of the technologies which I
interested in is the process of chitin and chitosan technology, by-product technology and
biochemistry of aquatic resources. My curiosity drives me to integrate them creatively into
multidisciplinary field, bio-molecular chemistry. I want to research deeply about that field for
human benefit.
I have in the field of industrial aspects of the marine and aquatic resources utilization, since
the commencement of my duty as a marine engineer graduated. Along with this field, I had an
internship at PT. Bali Maya Permai, a food canning industry. I was tasked to control quality and
to analyze chemical hazard probability, during preparation of Sardinella lemuru until its canning
process. From this internship, I have gained practical experience which I feel will Contribute to
my academic success. Since then, I was seriously strong-determined to examine the biochemical
aspects of other aquatic products, not only fish.
As an indication of my seriousness in this particular field, I have finished my
undergraduate in Bogor Agriculture University. It was a 4 years 5 month bachelor’s degree which
provided me with an excellent experience of conducting research in an independent manner. I
cooperatively propose the research plan with my college's friends and some lecturers on campus.
Over the past two years, I was involved in innovative research competition "Student Creativity
Program (PKM)" that entirely funded by the Directorate General of Higher Degree, Ministry of
Education Republic of Indonesia. My research topic focuses on the extraction of chemical
components in marine invertebrates. Until now, I am still researching on the extraction of
chitosan from waste of crustacean’s shell and waste utilization chitosan extraction. It is
impossible to me, to spread out my research focus into topic of extraction of other chemical
components in other marine invertebrates.
Since the beginning of my involvement in this topic, I have published some of
publications. At least five (5) under-reviewed publications (journals, reviews, newspaper articles)
and some of the online publication have been published within last two years. In addition, I have
delivered at least two (2) presentations to scientific competition, with the natural science topics.
That topic, especially marine bio-molecular chemistry are the ones that attracted me really when
I had elected as an Indonesian’s young researcher of Indonesian Institute of Science (LIPI). It
was a great experience to me and become an important momentum to where I am now. That
achievement also was my bachelor's thesis that I research almost 1 year. My final project

especially regarding biomaterial industry that utilize the by-products of fisheries and marine products. patching perforation covers only the quality of perforation closure. I would like to pursue my interest in research in the area of bio-molecular chemistry through doing a MSc researching. I maybe was cooperative with a government department or other public sector body in the future. due to its biocompatibility. Probably. Recently. I still work hard to continue this research. Until now. Purpose of the current research was developing chitosan-blended polymer scaffold membrane as a patch-through for eardrum perforation feasibility of chitosan-poly (vinyl alcohol)-glycerol blend membrane by mechanoacoustical approach.) of aquatic product technology. All of my desire and my dream were to give the best when I return to Indonesia. The international reputation of the department attracts such a variety of students and I believe it will be a stimulating environment which to study at master's degree level. The best candidate of them determined by their morphological. Both of mechanical and acoustical analyzes are needed to find a suitable artificial tympanic membrane.associated with chitosan usage as a medical material (in membrane form) to assist the process of closing / regeneration of tympanic membrane perforation. The artificial one supposed to represent approximately estate tissue condition-assessed through a feasible simply models. and acoustical properties. With regard to career plans. mechanically feasible. I want to help contribute my ideas and solutions to support stem cell medicine in Indonesia. After studying at Hokkaido University majoring in Marine Bioresource Chemistry. This research is still in the stage of membrane characterizations by biochemical approaches and mechano-acoustical approach. and formed more creative students who care about their environment. Chitosan has found many applications in biomedical. Therefore.Your university also provides excellent working environment and sophisticated research facilities for graduate students. and worthy of continuing impulse sound. Marine Bioresource Chemistry Course in the Hokkaido University because of your research interests in Marine Natural Products Chemistry and high reputation of excellence in these fields. . the Hokkaido University (especially Hakodate Campus) has had a proud history of being at the forefront of fisheries research and is one of the largest campuses of its kind in Japan. I am curious to the relationship between bio-molecular structure and regeneration process of tympanic tissue I am particularly keen to study at the Department of Marine Life Science. I know that since it opened in 1935. In addition. which demonstrate your commitment to every graduate student. I was eager to share the knowledge I get to the students. and structural similarity to natural glycosaminoglycan. Including tissue engineering approaches. I will continue my current duties as a lecturer and researcher. it is not included the quantity of sound intensity approval. especially in artificial tissue engineering based on marine and fisheries product. mechanical. Chitosan has been modified with the other proteins or polymers for tissue engineering models. Those characterization supposed to an appropriate implant material. physical. I would want to be an engineer (Eng. I want to continue working in the field of research.
