HARMONY HIVE

M:(Bri wont be talking much because shes sick) but

B: Welcome to the Harmony Hive

M:We chose bees because they are essential for a healthy eco-system, and are danger of disappearing.

M: This is what our produce section in the store would look like if bees arent around to pollinate all of our plants

B: We chose Eugene Oregon as the location for our monument because it is the first city to ban the pesticides that kill bees

M: It will be in a tree garden that is easily accessible to visitors because its near by trails, a university, and an open air
amphitheater

KEY WORDS
community // symbiotic relationship

B: We want to capture the ideals of the bees by exemplifying the qualities of community and symbiotic relationships

M: Our reasoning behind the name Harmony Hive is to convey the united community, and we choose the hive form because
it is a structure that provides protection for something sacred, or worth protecting.

M: This is our inspiration for both structure and materials

M: Elevation, we have a protective wood dome, with an interactive balancing platform in the center that symbolizes our
symbiotic relationship with the bee, with community gathering benches scattered around the park

M: Plan, there is a series of topographic layers that raise the monument up, and represent the ripple eect of the exponential
response that occurs as the bees disappear (colony collapse disorder)

B:Ta-Da!

M:This is what we have envisioned, and constructed.

M: The dome is very large, making a grand impact to the area, and on visitors.

M: This would be the interactive element, where you have fun and balance each other on a honey-esk platform

B: Smaller and larger benches will be in park, some with gardens

M: So we were pretty considerate of how the dome structure might look in the sun. This is how it would look at high noon,
with the sun permitting the wood.

M: And at dusk, the center would start to glow
