Morning Prayer @ 8:30 a.m. – All worship participants gather for prayer each Sunday at 8:30 a.m. As we grow into a house of prayer for all people, you are welcome to join them any Sunday! Beginning today from 10:45am-11:45am in the Youth Room we are offering an adult study option during the 2nd service led by Jill Heroux or Scott Krogmann for people who have attended the early service. It doesn't matter if this is your first or 101st Bible Study, No Experience Necessary is designed to be accessible for people new to Bible study, and full of fresh insights for others. (If you attend the 2nd service and want a Sunday study time, consider attending the Life Liners at 12:30 p.m. with Leon Wheeler or talk to Scott or Jill if you'd prefer to be part of a 9 a.m. study!) Mother Daughter Event At Lifesong Church Friday – Mothers and their 8-12 year old daughters are invited to the Secret Keeper Girl Bod Squad Tour featuring recording artist Stephanie Smith and the Bod Squad detectives. Journey together with pop music, confetti cannons, giant tea cups and fashion on the runway to prove just how possible true beauty really is. You’ll never have so much fun digging into God’s word! The purpose is to focus on a biblical view of beauty and issues about body image for young girls. It is scheduled for this Friday from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at LifeSong United Methodist Church on South Alafaya Trail. Purchase tickets by calling Amy Rop at 407-273-8368. Leadership Development Group Interest Sign-Up – Pastor Jeff is beginning the process of selecting this year’s 12 L.E.A.D. participants…a 24 week faith building and leadership development journey. If you’d like to be considered, sign-up at the Welcome Center soon. SoJ Women – Upcoming Events • “Lunch and Laugh” with Holly Jezek! All women are invited to bring a lunch and learn to laugh for the “health of it”. Experience laughter without humor or jokes. We’ll meet in the Splash Zone, Saturday, September 8, 1-3 p.m. • New Women’s Journey Group! Sign up at the Welcome Center if you’re interested in meeting either Sunday or Monday evenings every two weeks beginning in September. After personal daily Bible reading and reflection, this will be a time to gather with sisters in Christ to share our joys and struggles as we live out our faith in our daily lives. 2008 Burundi Mission Trip Interest Sign-Up Begins – If you’re interested in taking part in a 2nd Mission Trip to Burundi, Africa, next summer, sign-up at the Welcome Center soon! A planning / information meeting will be scheduled soon. First Communion – At SoJ parents decide when their children are ready for communion. A two session class for parents and children will be held this summer. Sign-up at the welcome Center! Additional Volunteers Urgently Needed – If you are able, please consider helping out in the following ways at SoJ: • Cleaning Team Volunteers: Meet Thursday morning from 9 to 11 a.m. See Bob Belk today! -Needed: a few people who could volunteer to clean the lobby and hall carpeting. Daytime or evening is okay. See a tech booth volunteer today! • Air Conditioning Installation Helpers: As you may have noticed, several of our A/C units have been less than efficient lately. These “original” units are nearly 12 years old and need to be replaced…hopefully September 6-8. Volunteers are needed. Sign-up at the Welcome Center! Interfaith Hospitality Network News!  Volunteer Orientation – Prior to our next hosting, all volunteers, including cooks, servers and hosts, are required to attend an orientation session, scheduled for September 12, 7-9 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Winter Park. If you are planning to volunteer and have not attended an orientation session, contact Dick Lovisone, 407-384-8178, or lovi@cfl.rr.com.  Golf Marathon – Golfers, want to have fun playing 100 holes in a day and raise money at the same time!! The 5th Annual IHN Golf Marathon will take place on October 29. See the hand out at the welcome center desk and on the cork boards throughout the church. SoJ Quilters – QUILTERS meet the first Monday of each month at 9:30 a.m. Please join us and plan to go to lunch together. We also need volunteers to cut squares and sew backs at home. Questions? Youth Recycling Project – SoJ’s youth are now able to recycle inkjet, laser cartridges, AND cell phones. Please bring your empty cartridges and unused cell phones to the Welcome Center and drop them into the appropriate boxes. Thanks for partnering with us in this fundraiser!

Joy Singers – Our adult choir, open to anyone from high school age and up, will resume rehearsals this Wednesday at 7pm. All are welcome! Joyful Noise – Our Sunday morning worship team rehearses on Thursdays from 7-9 p.m. We are currently looking for an additional bass player and vocalists. Interested? Contact Phil Greve. Drama Team – SoJ's Drama Team consists of writers and actors who are interested in utilizing their talents in short skits to enhance the worship experience.
