THURSDAY, MARCH 5
WNY Drilling Defense Community Meeting
6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Crane Branch Library
633 Elmwood Avenue
Buffalo, New York 14222
Every week trains loaded with volatile crude oil fracked in North Dakota's Bakken shale travel through New York communities at 30 to
40 miles an hour. The DOT-111 tankers used to haul oil are defective and prone to explode in derailments. Bakken oil trains from North
Dakota are traveling across New York State and through the City of Buffalo.
With very little public awareness and no study of environmental impacts, the oil industry has made New York a dangerous pipeline for
crude oil that snakes thousands of miles by rail, barge and ship from oil fields in North Dakota and elsewhere, to refineries on both
coasts. Because they present an immediate danger to public health, we must work to halt the transport of oil trains. Join us in stopping the
bomb trains!
We will also be discussing next steps in the anti-fracking campaign in New York, including increased focus on renewable energy. These
meetings are open to all!

MONDAY, MARCH 9
Sneak Preview Screening: 'Dear President Obama: The Case Against Fracking'
7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Buffalo State College

Bulger Communications Building (North Room)

1300 Elmwood Avenue
Buffalo, NY
Join us for a sneak-peek at Jon Bowermaster's brand new film-in-the-works Dear President Obama: The Case Against Fracking.
Building on the success of the locally-produced Dear Governor Cuomo: New Yorkers Against Fracking In One Voice, which played a
role in convincing Governor Andrew Cuomo to ban fracking in New York State, this new film takes a national look at the issue, profiling
the victims of fracking, giving the experts on the subject a forum and taking a hard look at the variety of alternative energy sources that
are gaining traction around the globe.
After the film will be a session with filmmaker Jon Bowermaster, as well as representatives from Food & Water Watch, Western NY
Drilling Defense, New Yorkers Against Fracking, and Frack Action bringing Western New Yorkers up to speed on what's transpired in
the state since the December 17th decision to ban fracking.
For more information on the film, visit: www.dearpresidentobamafilm.com
This event is free & open to the public. It will take place on Buffalo State College campus at the Bulger Communications Center, North

TUESDAY, APRIL 9
Amherst Against Fracking Meeting
6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Williamsville Public Library
5571 Main Street
Williamsville, NY
In April 2014 the Town Board of Amherst passed a resolution stating that they'd pass a local law that prohibited fracking and fracking
waste from entering Amherst, but have yet to follow up on their word. Almost 200 cities and towns across NY have stepped up to protect
their residents from fracking by passing local measures, and now it's time for the Amherst Town Board to do the same. A town-wide ban
on fracking & fracking waste disposal, including road spreading, would protect residents from exposure to harmful chemicals, heavy
metals, and even radioactivity in fracking waste.
While it is a great victory that NYS recently banned fracking, Amherst Against Fracking still finds it imperative that this local law be
passed in full. New York's fracking ban does not protect the Town of Amherst from the various fracking wastes being spread on roads,
mishandled in treatment facilities, and other risky disposal processes. This is a huge loophole in current state regulation and wastes from
places like Ohio and Pennsylvania are already crossing our borders.

ARTICLE: License To Dump (Environmental Advocates Of New York: February 2015)

...[We are]...pleased to share Environmental Advocates Of New York's new report, 'License To Dump,' which details the dangerous
practice of letting Pennsylvania dump its toxic fracking waste inside our landfills.
We applaud [New York State] Governor [Andrew] Cuomo and his administration for following the science on fracking and announcing
a ban based on its public health and environmental impacts. However, if fracking is too dangerous for New York, then certainly other
states fracking waste is too dangerous for New York.
Fracking wastes are notoriously toxic and radioactive. We encourage the Cuomo Administration as they develop the final ban
language to ensure that the dangers of fracking waste are considered, and announce an 'emergency' rule-making to begin the process of
closing loopholes within state regulations that allow fracking waste to be classified as construction debris rather than the toxic
byproduct it is....

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 27
Demand Justice For Fast Food Workers Fighting Against Racial Discrimination
12:00 to 1:00 p.m.
Outside McDonald's Restaurant
5316 Main Street
Williamsville, NY
In South Boston, Virginia, ten workers at three McDonalds stores were fired last year after facing a pattern of racial discrimination and
sexual harassment. These McDonalds workers that were told by management, There are too many black people [working] in the store,
have filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the company alleging a widespread pattern of racial and sexual discrimination and

harassment at three stores in Virginia.

Willie Betts, who was a cook at the South Boston McDonalds until he was fired last May, said: All of a sudden, they let me go, for no
other reason than I didnt fit the profile they wanted at the store. I had no idea what they meant by the right profile until I saw everyone
else that they fired as well. I worked at McDonalds for almost five years, I was on time every day at four oclock in the morning to open
the store, and I never had a disciplinary write-up. They took away the only source of income I have to support my family.
Fast food workers wont stop until they win $15 an hour, dignity at work, and the right to form a union.
Join the Coalition For Economic Justice this Friday at noon, and tell McDonalds that people in Buffalo wont tolerate this discrimination
and harassment, and stand with fast food workers who are fighting against injustice and for livable wages and fair treatment for all.

Repowering the Dunkirk Coal Plant and Cayuga Coal Plant With Renewable Energy
The fact that coal is a dangerous fossil fuel for human health and the climate coupled with the cheap natural gas is forcing coal plant
operators to close their plants, or curtail energy production. New York State's Public Service Commission held hearings on what to do
with the Dunkirk Coal Plant (Dunkirk NY) and the Cayuga Coal Plant (near Lansing NY on the shores of beautiful Cayuga Lake, just
north of Ithaca).
Only two choices were presented by the Public Service Commission: repower with natural gas or shut down the plants and improve
transmission lines into both areas. The global warming potential of methane is about 90 times that of CO 2 (Howarth: Climatic Change
106:679-690 (2011)).
Hence New York State's Public Service Commission is seriously considering an option (methane) that would enhance the global
warming.
The WNY Peace Center's Renewable Energy Task Force offered a third alternative: repower both with renewable energy by creating two
large solar parks: one at the old Seneca Army Depot (between Seneca and Cayuga Lakes) -- the other at the Dunkirk Coal plant itself.

EmPower NY
EmPower is a NYSERDA program for low-income individuals to obtain free professional energy services to reduce their energy usage
and costs. If they are approved for the program, families can receive up to $7000 worth of no-cost home energy work, including energyefficient appliance replacement, furnace updates and insulation.
EmPower New York is now accepting applications for no-cost energy efficiency services to low-income households. If your household
meets eligibility requirements, you may be approved for free energy services provided by a licensed home improvement agency.
Improvements may include replacement of old light bulbs, refrigerators, dryers and freezers with new energy-efficient models, or
insulation and air sealing may be provided to keep more heat in the home. Contractors also test your home for gas leaks and carbon
monoxide which can be dangerous if undetected.
EmPower NY is a NYSERDA program and is available to renters or owners who live in buildings of 100 units or less and make 60% or
less of the median NY state income.
Interested applicants may contact Colleen at the reference information below. More information can also be found on the NYSERDA

PETITION: No New Authorization For The Use Of Military Force
The U.S. Congress is considering another "Authorization for the Use of Military Force" -- a broad approval for more war.
This is the last thing we need. These wars are not making us safer but generating enemies. They are not surgical operations, but mass
killings, as well as assaults on the natural environment and the public budget not to mention excuses for curtailing civil liberties.
Please sign this statement for delivery to the media and Congress:

Bonny Mahoney: Trial & Outcome
STATEMENT BY BONNY (February 13, 2015):
It was a cold blustery night but the supporters who showed up at Dewitt Town Court were the inspiration I needed to complete my court
appearance. Even Reverend Jim Matthews.
The Assistant District Attorney (ADA) Jarrett Woodfork recommended the maximum sentence of 15 days and requested an Order Of
Protection (OOP) for Chief Master Sargent Ramsey. Mr. Woodfork also refused to allow Charley [Bowman] to record the proceedings.
What is he afraid of?
Judge Gideon gave me a conditional discharge with an order of protection for base commander Greg Semmel until 2017.
I said what I needed to say and we called it a night.
Thank you all. See you at the........

REFLECTIONS ON BONNY'S SENTENCING STATEMENT:
Bonny had the opportunity to address the court last night, before the judge sentenced her. It was her 'sentencing statement'. Everybody
gets a chance to make one if you are convicted of a crime. *
Bonny chose to use it as an opportunity to share the story of 13-year-old Mohammed Tuaiman. He was the boy in Yemen murdered by
the CIA this past January 26th.
Bonny is a woman filled with compassion. She wanted to stop the terrorizing of these innocent people. She wanted to let the coldhearted ADA** and judge know why she was at the base almost two years ago, and why she will continue to come back. She certainly

couldn't apologize for doing the right thing.

Bonny committed no crime. The base does the crimes, serious crimes; the protestors are trying to bring the killing to an end. No more
burning up people with the Hellfire missiles. No more destroying families. No more terror.
That is why the court, the prosecution and law enforcement keep trying illegal methods to stop the protests of the war crimes originating
from the base. The resisters are committing no crimes. Bonny's conviction will more than likely be overturned in the future at an appeals
court. She started with four charges. The original three were thrown out and the fourth was added at the start of the original trial over 20
months after the protest. The jury was sent home. In the meantime the assassination enablers continue trying to intimidate people like
Bonny.
Read this story amd think about the 4,000 African Americans who were lynched in America between 1877 and 1950:
https://face2faceafrica.com/article/lynching-in-america. The judges enabled the lynchings by looking the other way as they do with the
victims of the drone assassinations originating in their communities.
Thank you Bonny for taking a stand for life and justice.
* It is not my opinion that Bonny committed any crime. She peacefully, non-violently attempted to express her First Amendment
rights of free speech to get the base to adhere to our Constitution. The Town Of DeWitt Court doesn't seem to recognize these
constitutional rights. They choose to label the expression a 'crime.'
** The ADA refused to allow any recording of any part of the proceeding. In order to make an audio or video recording, both the
defense and the prosecution need to approve. Without any explanation the prosecution would not allow this. We have been recording
most opening and closing and sentencing statements and putting them up on YouTube for public viewing. We, the resisters, have nothing
to hide. We assume they don't want the community to learn the truth about the issue and/or band/or be able to see the failures of their
taxpayer funded apparatus at work.
