Dear All-State Member:

Congratulations on earning a position in this most prestigious organization! You have won this honor after competing
with thousands of other students throughout the state. For them and your fellow All-Staters, please start preparing
yourself to give this event your very best effort. Please notify your director immediately if you become unable to
participate as an All-State student, so that an alternate may be called.
The following items are included in this file:
Student Questionnaire * Required at registration
Code of Conduct * Required at registration
Medical Release * Required at registration
Rehearsal Schedule
College Night Flyer
All-State Family Fact Sheet
Order Forms for Audio/Video Recordings

Student Questionnaire: Complete all information and have your school counselor verify that all is correct. Bring to
All-State student registration.
Code of Conduct: Two copies of this form will print. Complete both and bring them to All-State student registration.
Following these conduct guidelines is imperative. Any student who breaks the rules will be sent home and the
principal and/or superintendent notified.
Medical Release: Again, all information is vitally important. Bring this completed form to All-State student
registration. THIS FORM MUST BE NOTARIZED.

* You will not be allowed to audition or participate in the Clinic/Convention if these three items have not been
completed and turned in on Wednesday afternoon between 1:00 4:00 p.m., February 13, 2008 in the Convention
Center East Registration area.

College Night Flyer: This is for your information. I hope you will attend.
Order Form for Recordings: The order form is for your convenience if you wish to have a video or audio recording
of your All-State performance.
All-State Student Housing: Your teacher will secure a hotel room for you at the convention, which you will share
with other All-State students from your school or area.
Family Fact Sheet: Give your family members attending this fact sheet so that they can prepare for their convention
attendance. There are many important and helpful details included.
All-State Concert Tickets. You received four tickets for your All-State concert. These are for your family members.
There are no more tickets available (not even for purchase), so do not request them. If you have more than four family
members wishing to attend, those persons without tickets will be seated 10 minutes prior to the concert if seating is
available.

IMPORTANT: Advise your family that no cell phones, pagers, flash cameras, audio/video recorders, babies or small
children are allowed in the concert. Professional recordings will be made, and we want to produce the best recording

All-State Family Fact Sheet:

Congratulations on being a family member of one of the states finest high school
musicians! He or she could not have arrived at this pinnacle of musicianship without your
support. We hope that you plan to attend the 2008 Texas Music Educators Association
Clinic/Convention to attend the concert and much more. Please take a few minutes to
read these highlights to help you prepare for your attendance. Stay up to date by going to
our convention webpage: www.tmea.org/convention.
Student Forms No Participation Without Them
This letter is included in a set of forms All-State students must complete and must bring
with them to registration on Wednesday, February 13. Start early on these forms to
ensure they are accurately completed. The medical release form requires the signature of
a notary.
2008 Clinic/Convention February 13-16, 2008
All-State concerts are the culmination of our associations annual four-day convention.
Over 23,000 people attend this convention at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center
in downtown San Antonio. Band, orchestra, vocal, elementary and college educators
attend over 200 workshops, 60 concerts and shop at more than 1,100 booths in two
exhibit halls.

Family Convention Badges

All-State student family members (who are not also music educators) are provided
complimentary convention badges. Although you do not need a badge to gain entry to
concerts, you do to enter the exhibit halls. Go to the Family/Clinician booth in the
registration area to obtain your family badge. Music educators must register for
convention.
Exhibit Halls
Be sure to arrive early enough to shop in our two exhibit halls on either side of the main
registration area. There are over 1,100 booths where you can try out the latest products
the music industry has to offer, go to a caf for refreshments, get a chair massage, and
much more. Remember to pick up a family badge to gain access to the halls.
All-State Student Housing
TMEA arranges housing for All-State students through requests from the students
directors. TMEA notifies the students directors of housing assignments.
Parent Housing
Parents make their own housing arrangements. You may find that using an online
reservation system (e.g., Orbitz, Travelocity, etc.) is the most convenient and affordable
way to reserve housing.
Parking
Free parking with shuttle service is available Thursday-Saturday in Lot C of the
Alamodome. Go to the convention website for more details and directions to that lot. The
website also includes other downtown parking information.
Performance Recording Sales
All-State concerts are recorded and available on CD and DVD. After convention, go to
www.MarkCustom.com to order CDs and DVDs the performances.
More Information Go to www.tmea.org/convention
For more detailed information about the convention, go to www.tmea.org/convention.
Return to this site for updates before you travel to San Antonio in February. Have a great
time at the 2008 TMEA Clinic/Convention!
