GENERAL ASSEMBLY OVERVIEW
The first week of the second half of session was mostly spent
assigning Senate bills to House committees and vice versa.
BPAG professionals have also been reviewing all live bills to
evaluate current language that is moving in both chambers.
There were a few committee hearings including the first Senate
Appropriations Committee hearing on the budget bill, HB 1001.
House Ways & Means Chairman Rep. Tim Brown (RCrawfordsville) presented the bill in the Appropriations
Committee.
The Indiana Senate honored the passing of former colleague
Sen. Sue Landske. Landske, of Cedar Lake, IN, passed away at
the age of 77 after a battle with lung cancer. Landske served
in the Senate for 30 years and was known for her effectiveness
in working with both sides of the aisle. Landske also retired as a
lieutenant colonel in the Indiana National Guard.

Next week committees will pick up with a busy schedule. Four

SENATE INSURANCE COMMITTEE
The Senate Insurance & Financial Institutions Committee has released
its agenda for the first two committee meetings. On Thursday, March
12th at 9:00am in Room 130, the Committee is scheduled to hear the
following bills:



HB 1021 limit on mine subsidence insurance coverage
HB 1539 securities
HB 1062 vehicle rentals
HB 1298 political subdivision risk management

On Thursday, March 19th at 9:00am in Room 130, the Committee is
scheduled to hear:




HB 1192 uninsured motorist damages
HB 1278 insurance and transportation networks
HB 1287 financial institutions and trade regulation
HB 1341 insurance matters

HOUSE INSURANCE COMMITTEE
Only one Senate bill (SB 425 Unclaimed Life Insurance Benefits) has
been assigned to the House Insurance Committee. The bill should
receive a hearing within the next week or two. Stay tuned.

SENATE HEALTH
The Senate Health and Provider Services Committee will meet next
Wednesday, March 11th at 9:30am in Room 431 and hear the
following bills:



HB 1065 use of investigational drugs, biological products and
devices
o Amend and vote only
HB 1183 physician assistants
HB 1454 auto-injectable epinephrine
HB 1548 midwives

HOUSE PUBLIC HEALTH
House Public Health Committee is scheduled to meet on Monday,
March 9th at 10:30am in the House Chamber to hear SB 460,
Comprehensive Care Health Facilities.
