Body language
• Introduction
Body language is an important part of the non verbal communication. “A

picture is worth a thousand words”, look at the photo's or watch the move in mute.... you will be able tell a many things. “Facial expressions and gestures account for 55% of meaning.” we should ensure that we are sending the right message during the interview. •

Material Required

Methodology
“STATUE”.... Pick up some of the postures that give a negative & positive communication and show that to the students and let the class interact and come to a conclusion for the best and practice it for the same.

Topic

Walking in....
A few simple steps to show a positive body language at an interview is to be natural, comfortable and confident. (Allow the students to practice and their colleges to redefine it for the best) Walk tall with a greeting smile on your face. Use the word “Excuse Me” when entering into an interviewer’s room/ chamber / office.

Handshake

Wait for the interviewer to initiate the handshake (You are too aggressive if you initiate the handshake). Your hands are clean, warm and reasonably free of perspiration. Firm, two to three shakes. Use only one hand and put your hand all the way into the interviewer's hand, with the palm up (You may be seen aggressive if the palm faces down).

Sitting posture

Wait for the instructions till the interview asks you to sit, if not ask “can I sit hear?” with a smile and politely. Take the full seat, if your sitting on the edge you are going to look nervous and uncomfortable. Lean slightly forward to show your interest in the conversation. (Do not rest your back to the back of the chair). Keep smiling. Women should avoid crossed legs. Men should avoid sitting with their legs too wide apart or with one ankle over the other knee.

Facial Signals

Carry a warm and natural smile. Keep eye contact, but don't stare. Avoid pursed lips, faked cough, frowning, looking sideways or peering over your glasses (These signals may send the message that you are nervous or arrogant). Nod slowly. Rapid nodding sends a message that you are impatient and are eager to add something to the conversation.

Hands

Avoid negative hand messages like running fingers through hair, biting fingernails, wringing hands, adjusting tie (nervous), and touching nose or face, clasping hands behind head, rubbing back of neck (untrustworthy or defensive). If you get a cough or sneezes then use the word excuse me / sorry after the unexpected sneeze / cough. Important Cover your face with the hand / handkerchief so that the expelled air from your mouth / nose do not fall or seen by others.

Voice

Speak clear and audible Thank the interviewer for the opportunity, Walk out with a smile and tall.

Grooming
The first impression you make on a potential employer is the most important one. The first judgment an interviewer makes is going to be based on how you look and what you are wearing. That's why it's always important to dress professionally for a job interview • • •

Hair - Should be clean and neat.

Face -Clean Shave and trimmed moustache, Females - No shining ear rings. Shirt - Long-sleeved shirts, even in summer. Choose white or light blue solid or
conservative stripes, No missing and don't forget to remove external tags and tacking stitches from new clothes. Clothes should be clean, neatly pressed, and fit properly.

Tie - Select good quality silk ties. Avoid fashion extremes, like character ties, in
interviews. The tip of the tie should touch at the belt.

Pants - A dark colour Navy Blue, Black, Gray, (no jeans, red, green, yellow, ),
No bulging pockets. Belt colour should match with that of your shoe colour.

Women
• If wearing a sari, make generous use of pins to keep the folds together. Similarly for salwar-suits pin the dupatta to the left shoulder of the dress to avoid any embarrassing slip-ups. The dress should not shine, see that the printed deigns are simple... Prefer for a simple / plain light colored ones.

Jewelry: - A simple neck chain, One or two bangles. If glass bangles, use one
so that the sound is not produced during the moment of your hand.

Group Discussion
A group discussion is a methodology used by an organization to identify / asses if the candidate has certain personality traits and/or skills that it desires in its members. Some of the personality traits the GD will be able to identify may include:o

Ability to work in a team,

Initiative Assertiveness Flexibility Creativity

o Ability to think on ones feet In a discussion group you must communicate in a positive way to assist the speakers in accomplishing their objective. There are at least four leadership skills you can use to influence other people positively and help your group achieve its purpose. These skills include: • • • • Introducing the topic and purpose of the discussion, Making sure all members have approximately the same time, (i.e. no one dominates the discussion by taking too much time) Thanking group members for their contribution Being objective in summarizing the group's discussion and achievements. Leading a Discussion • • • • introducing yourself and the members of the group stating the purpose of the discussion inviting quiet group members to speak being objective

Do • • • • • • • Speak pleasantly and politely to the group. Respect the contribution of every speaker. Remember that a discussion is not an argument. Learn to disagree politely. Think about your contribution before you speak. How best can you answer the question/ contribute to the topic? Try to stick to the discussion topic. Don't introduce irrelevant information. Be aware of your body language when you are speaking. Agree with and acknowledge what you find interesting.

Don't • • • • • Lose your temper. A discussion is not an argument. Shout. Use a moderate tone and medium pitch. Use too many gestures when you speak. Gestures like finger pointing and table thumping can appear aggressive. Dominate the discussion. Confident speakers should allow quieter students a chance to contribute Draw too much on personal experience or anecdote. Although some tutors encourage students to reflect on their own experience, remember not to generalise too much. Interrupt. Wait for a speaker to finish what they are saying before you speak.

Resume Writing
OBJECTIVE Your objective should be clear, well-defined and short ... It should be aimed towards getting a particular position in a specific industry. 1. Position wanted 2. Area of efficient 3. Industry wanted Example: - Voice accent trainer in a BPO Marketing position in the FMCG segment of a Multinational Company The other sub heading are:Name, Date of birth, Communication address, Phone number, E- mail, Experience, Educational qualifications, Achievements, Hobbies, Other skills... Declaration, Signature, Date and Place

Covering Letter
There are four basic parts to a cover letter: heading, introduction, body, and a closing. Heading Provide your contact information. Include the date you are writing the letter. Include the address of the company. Introduction Greet the specific person you address the letter to. State the position you are applying for and where you heard about it.

Body Give the narration about your skills and how you got them before which has to reflect in your resume and your desire to work with the company you are applying for. Closing Close with a strong reminder of why you are a good candidate. Request an interview in some way. Provide contact information. Thank them! Sign your name and print it underneath.
