CHAPTER 1

The Problem and Its Background

Introduction
The study of leisure time signifies the broad range of opportunities for a meaningful participation of the
students within the community assisted by different groups of institutions and organizations. The assisting groups
gives full attention on how the students can spend their free time in a way that it will benefit them and other people
involve.
The study of leisure time importantly recognizes that it could be useful with regards to taking care of solid
factors such as buildings, school facilities and others. It creates concern to both public and political awareness, and it
recognizes that students dont need privileges to be protected.
An unwanted turn of events such as smoking, drinking liquor, student fight, and unprotected sexual contact
may take place during this period. Though some of these problems are most likely unavailable, it does not necessarily
mean that it should happen. Students were informed and educated about this matter. This study intends to explain that
the goal of the students leisure time is to be a good cause.
Developing camaraderie, personal achievement, social and political awareness and academic improvements
through team participation, these are what the schools are trying to do. Facilitators try to make the students achieve
these things.

Conceptual Framework
This study focuses on the leisure and academic performance of the students of the University of Cagayan
Valley.
This study includes the following input for the profile of the respondents: Age, Gender, Year Level and Family
income.
Questionnaires are all base from the leisure and academic performance of the IT Students of University of
Cagayan Valley.

Statement of the Problem


This study targets to assess the leisure and academic performance of the IT Students of University of Cagayan
Valley.
Importantly, it seeks to answer the following queries.
1. What is the profile of the respondents relative to:

1.2. Gender
1.3. Year Level
1.4. Family Income
2. Common leisure and academic activities of the respondents relative to:
2.1. Study Habits
2.2. Using Technology
2.3. Computer Gaming
2.4. Social Life
3. Is there a significant relationship between the leisure and academic performance of the respondents and their
profile relative to:
3.1. Study Habits
3.2. Using Technology
3.3. Computer Gaming
3.4. Social Life

Hypotheses
With regards to the above questions, the researchers stated that:

Significance of the Study


This study is important for the College of Information Technology, because it serves as an instrument in
assessing their problems may affect the satisfaction of their leisure time.
This study benefits the following:

Administrators/Teachers
- This study should help them be more productive in their field for the betterment of the
students as well as having the confidence to give their students the best foundation they
could have. Sharing concern and support is the administrators/ teachers goal. With their
help,these concerns are most likely to happen.

Students

The result of this study will support them bind to their morale. It ought to make them a better
person; helps them to be productive in the future that will lead them to make a serious and
worthy commitment; it will guide them to do good for their selves and for others; and
hopefully be a good citizen of the country.
This study will help and guide them in giving what is best for their children, to teach them on
how to do be a better person by doing what is right, and to express to them the things they
need to know in order to have a good foundation.

Researchers
- Theresult of this study would help the future researchers; they could use this as a good
source of their study.

Scope and Delimitation of the Study


This study only talks about the leisure and academic performance of the IT students of University of Cagayan
Valley.
