Purchasing Manager
Sourced and purchased the highest quality materials to drive the Universitys mission, protecting department
revenues and the overall school budget. Developed relationships with multiple vendors and purchased materials
for construction and facilities maintenance, utilizing knowledge of equipment valuation to negotiate best prices.
Reviewed specifications, prepared and signed purchase orders, managed the formal bidding process, and assisted
the physical plant director with decision-making. Managed the department's accounts payable/receivable, and
credit card reconciliation to ensure revenues were spent effectively. Assumed leadership during Plant Managers
absences and ensured continuity of operations.
Key Accomplishments:
Manage operating/capital budgets in excess of $24 million coming in under budget each year.
Developed a new bidding process requiring multiple bids from contractors for large projects, which allowed
the University to establish new lines of business with contractors while maintaining in-place relationships.
Aggressively pursued and finalized the purchase of a state-of-the-art boiler for at 10% over manufacturing
cost, which reduced water and energy costs by 50% and resulting in a nine month ROI.
Negotiated and directed a successful sewer relining project costing $110,000.00 that provided a long-term
solution to a complex problem.
Closed a $100,000 fixed five year uniform contract for the Vice President for Financial Affairs.
Saved the university over $90,000 in the first year by forming a partnership with Provista to access over $43
billion in annual purchasing power through Novation contracts.
Implemented several lighting upgrade projects, recovering 50% of project dollars in energy trust rebates
through PGE and reducing energy usage/cost by 50%.
Negotiated the purchase and replacement of a commercial dishwasher, saving $13,450.00 in installation and
set-up costs, and a value added bonus of one extra year of a service contract. Project saved an additional
$13,000.00 by reducing water, energy, and chemical use by 50%.
