Project Objective
The objective of this project is to plan a proper and hierarchy of design process
which includes: the general product definition, specifications and requirements,
functional block diagrams, definition of specification of functional blocks for circuit
level synthesis and implementation, system integration, simulation or modeling,
testing and verification.

Project Outcomes
After completing the project, the students should be able to:
(i) Design the project with the consideration for a specific loading.
(ii) Present the findings analytically both in writing and oral formats.
Note: Students will be assessed in accordance with the (i) Programme Learning Outcome
10 (PLO 10), i.e. committed to Design, and (ii) Programme Learning Outcome 12 (PLO
12), i.e. committed to Environment & Sustainability. Refer to the given Assessment
Rubric Matrix.

General Requirements
Write a technical report to present your project outcomes.
Create a presentation video clip to demonstrate your group presentation. The
allowed video file formats are: .mpg, .wmv, or .avi only.
(iii) Submit the technical report and the presentation video clip (CD) latest by 7
June 2015, before 3.30pm.

Rules of Project Work

Plagiarism:
(i) It is not allowed to utilise any parameter value that has been used by other
student.
(ii) It is not allowed to copy any drawing (even parts) developed by other student.
(iii) It is not allowed to copy any part of the technical article prepared by other
student.
(iv) However, it is encouraged to have discussion on the tasks given with other
students.

Technical Report:
All findings and results have to be presented in a written technical report (single
column, 1.5 spacing, Arial with the font size of 12) (appendix is not counted). It
must be written in English only. The content of the technical report should at least
consist of the followings:
(i) Introduction
(ii) Literature review
(iii) Methodology show the block diagram and related flow of the project
methodology. Describe each step in brief.
(iv) Results and Discussion Discuss the findings comprehensively in which the
appropriate diagram(s) and/ or drawing(s) should be placed accordingly.
(v) Conclusion and recommendations Discuss the analysis of simple payback
period and return of investments.
(vi) Understanding on social, cultural, global and environmental
responsibilities
(vii) References At least 20 references that include conference papers, journals
and books only. No internet reference is allowed.
(viii) Wow factor
(ix) Appendix/ Visual aids - showing all presented technical drawing(s) and/or
schematic diagram(s).

Tasks
(a)
(b)

(c)
(d)
(e)
(f)

Form your own task group for 5 persons maximum.

Perform systematic feasibility study of the given project title. The study should
focus on the proposal of division of the area/ section. Concern on the supply
reliability and safety (future expansion should be considered) should be put as
the study priority.
Recommend necessity enhancement strategies.
Prepare an organized technical report to present your findings and analysis.
Perform group presentation on your findings and recommendations.
Submit your technical report (must be in ring binding) before the mentioned
due date.
