M: Christ is Risen! C: He is risen indeed! (spoken) M: This is the day the Lord has made; C: Let us rejoice and be glad in it! C: (sing) The day of resurrection! Earth, tell it out abroad, The Passover of gladness, The Passover of God. From death to life eternal, From this world to the sky, Our Christ has brought us over With hymns of victory. Now let our hearts be joyful; Let earth her song begin. Let all the world keep triumph And all that is therein. Let all things, seen and unseen, Their notes of gladness blend; For Christ the Lord has risen; Our joy shall have no end. (Christian Worship # 166:1,3) Easter Prayer M: Almighty God, by the glorious resurrection of your Son Jesus Christ you conquered death and opened the gate to eternal life. Grant that we, who have been raised with him through baptism, may walk in newness of life and ever rejoice in the hope of sharing his glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit be dominion and praise now and forever. C: Amen. (spoken)

Confession of Faith (Martin Luther’s explanation of the 2nd Article of the Apostles’ Creed) C: I believe that Jesus Christ, true God, begotten of the Father from eternity, and also true man, born of the virgin Mary, is my Lord.

He has redeemed me, a lost and condemned creature, purchased and won me from all sins, from death and from the power of the devil, not with gold or silver, but with his holy, precious blood and with his innocent suffering and death. All this he did that I should be his own, and live under him in his kingdom, and serve him in everlasting righteousness, innocence, and blessedness, just as he has risen from death and lives and rules eternally. This is most certainly true.

Prayer of the Church M: O God of life and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, in your grace, you have given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. C: You have transformed the night of doubt and sorrow into a new and eternal day of joy and gladness. M: You have brought life and immortality to light through the good news that Christ has been raised from the dead. C: For this, O Lord we give you thanks. M: You have delivered your Son, who died for our sins, from the grip of death and have raised him by your power. C: That which you have sown in dishonor and weakness has been raised in power and glory. M: O Lord, we praise you that through him you have removed death’s sting for us. C: You have brought us victory over the grave. M: Fill our hearts with the joy of the resurrection. C: Grant to your church the power of the resurrected Christ. M: Give us lips to declare your praises. C: Bless our homes with the comfort and hope of Easter. M: Send the conquering banner of Christ’s victory out into the world. C: Grant that many more may join the hosts of heaven in songs of triumph. M: In the promise of Easter remove from our hearts the fear of death. C: Let the bright beams of Easter’s light shine into the depths of our souls. M: Lord, comfort those who are sick, lonely, and discouraged… Intercessory prayers. Hear us now as we bring you our private petitions… Silent prayer. M: Gracious Father, today we rejoice, for you have restored to us the joy of our salvation. C: Alleluia! Thanks be to God! Amen. The Lord’s Prayer C: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.
