MONDAY—EVANGELISTIC PRAYER Chronological Bible Reading:
1 Kings 19 22; Luke 22:1 35
Monday, May 4
† Acts 22:15
For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.
Merciful Lord and Heavenly Father:  You chose the apostle Paul to see and hear you speak from heaven. That  was a great privilege, but you didn’t mean for it to end with him! You wanted that intense personal experience to have an influence on others. So it is that I pray for your help to reach the lost this week, even before next Sunday.  This is what
impact
is. When I plead with you to let me have an impact on people at my work, in my family, or in my community, I am asking you to let me
influence them toward Christ
. I can only do that if I am faithful—as Paul  was—to testify of that which you have personally revealed to me. I need to give a  witness! It is my own story, and I cannot keep it to myself.

First, let me see and hear, so I have something to say

Then, make me both eager and bold this week to bear the testimony of what I have seen and understood to __________ and to __________
!
I know it must be a personal testimony—
For
thou
 shalt be…
!
I know it must be a testifying about Christ—
his
 witnesses…
!
I know it must be constant and all-absorbing—
…unto
all
 men…
Make me a witness above anything else this week (and to the exclusion of many things else). Let people know me for my testimony to truth. Help me use the opportunity of next Sunday’s sermons, and clear presentation of truth, to overcome the fear of being personally rejected. Give me boldness to go to
all men
and women—all within my reach. Help me not be silent, but
 preach to reach each
, because I am possessed by the Holy Ghost. Don’t let me miss the promise in the command of Acts 22:15. Fulfill your word to me for Jesus’ sake! Amen.
TUESDAY—FOCUS ON CHRIST’S MIRACLES Chronological Bible Reading:
2 Kings 1 3; Luke 22:36 71
  Tuesday, May 5
Matt. 8:27
But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!
Marvelous Master: I thank you that your loving heart can never rest if your children are in danger. It is only because there is now no danger that you sit at the right hand of God the Father, so much at peace. But as for me, sometimes I get so low I think I’m going to die. But die as I might, I can never go any lower, and in due time even my body will bounce-back from the grave! Sometimes I think I’m the  world’s worst sinner. But sin as I might, my case only presents you with an opportunity to excel above anything you have ever done, and you delight in that!
Micah 7:18
Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy.
To me, my sin is like Samson: it will not be bound even with new cords; my corruptions break loose from all my restraints. Yes Satan, you have proved me a sinner—but that is my hope for grace! Other times Lord, I know I am not humble enough. Some sinners weep but I cannot; I wish I did more often. Yet even
 weeping
for my failures would not help you
save
me from them. Stony-hearted as I am, I am only alive by your life, righteous by Christ’s righteousness, and made more holy by your Holy Spirit.  There is nothing good in me; yet sanctification is not by suppression of the flesh, it is all of grace in Christ. Give me more of him! I look to him to be Omega as  well as Alpha, and the finisher of my lusts as well as the author of my salvation. Do not let sin smolder in my heart any longer. Drive away all my unbelief, and to your name will be the praise forever and ever. Amen!
 WEDNESDAY—REVIVAL PRAYING Chronological Bible Reading:
2 Kings 4 6; Luke 23:1 28
 Wednesday, May 6
Isa. 44:3b
I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:
Eternal God and Glorious Lord: My kids do not have the Spirit of God by nature (which is often embarrassingly obvious). I see so much in my children that makes me fear for their future, and drives me to deeper prayer for them. I feel like crying with  Abraham,
Oh, that Ishmael might live before thee!
I would rather see my daughters be Hannahs than be stars, and my boys be Samuels than American Idols. This verse from Isaiah encourages me, because it follows right after the words,
Isa. 44:2
Thus saith the LORD that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, which will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun, whom I have chosen.
Lord, give us your Spirit in revival! Lord, give it to us abundantly! Lord, pour it on our families at this church! Lord, let it flow successfully to produce real and eternal fruit, fixing our dysfunction. And under that divine outpouring, may our children step forward, and,
Isa. 44:5
One shall say, I am the Lord’s; and another shall call himself by the name of Jacob; and another shall subscribe with his hand unto the LORD, and surname himself by the name of Israel.
At set times and in specific ways, I should pray for the children of members in the church. Not even their own parents can give them new hearts Lord, but the Holy Spirit can—and he is easy to be entreated for this cause. Lord, take pleasure in my prayer for a revival that starts with me and flows to my physical offspring. Let the adults be revived and then may the children turn from rebellion! If there are any parents with children still “outside the ark”, let me not rest in prayer till I have heard they are shut-in with us by the Lord’s own hand. Help us see many children be saved. For we ask it in Jesus’ name and to his glory.
A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING Chronological Bible Reading:
2 Kings 7 9; Luke 23:29 56
  Thursday, May 7
Gen. 12:2
And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
ESCUE
the perishing, care for the dying, Snatch them in pity from sin and the grave;  Weep o’er the erring one, lift up the fallen,  Tell them of Jesus, the mighty to save.  Though they are slighting Him, still He is waiting,  Waiting the penitent child to receive; Plead with them earnestly, plead with them gently; He will forgive if they only believe. Down in the human heart, crushed by the tempter, Feelings lie buried that grace can restore;  Touched by a loving heart, wakened by kindness, Chords that were broken will vibrate once more.
Rescue the perishing, care for the dying,  Jesus is merciful, Jesus will save.  —Fanny Crosby, 1869

FRIDAY— CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY Chronological Bible Reading:
2 Kings 10 12; Luke 24:1 26
 Friday, May 8
2 Sam. 7:1
 And it came to pass, when the king sat in his house, and the LORD had  given him rest round about from all his enemies;
O, Our Father!  There are a thousand and one things that comprise the ministries of our church, our classes, our
HarvestKids
, and our missionaries abroad. Bless and prosper everything according to your mind and your will. Give us prayer in proportion to our activity, and faith in proportion to our ministry!  Visit us now; the nature of spiritual warfare is that we cannot see the peril in advance. May nothing happen to break the bond of peace we enjoy in our church, or the momentum of your Spirit. Establish a firm foundation of faith. Revive your mercy to us today, and our love for the pure gospel of Jesus Christ as we hear it preached Sunday. Bless our jobs, let the spirit of Christ permeate our relationships, and flow down even into the darkest heart. Rebuke those who seek to mar and spoil our witness. Give us wisdom for our reactions, since philosophy and vain deceit attack us on all sides. Let everything we do be ordered for your glory today. Let people praise you because of us. Make the power of the gospel felt even more and more. Bless my brothers and sisters who minister across the sea or in any other land. They worship you in spirit and truth with the same desire I do. There are saints scattered in every nation. Visit us with the fullness of your Spirit, so the garden of the Lord can be green even in the middle of the desert of foreign lands. Help them and us to give the lost a sense of what it is to have sin pardoned. Give us a powerful sanctification so we can be kept from the influence of temptation. Sink truth into our souls and let us live to the Eternal Purpose of God, and reach others with the gospel for Jesus’ sake. Amen.
SATURDAY—IN THE PSALMS Chronological Bible Reading:
2 Kings 13 15; Luke 24:27 53
 Saturday, May 9
Psa. 46:1
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Mighty Helper, Lord: Others boast of their good jobs, large homes, and retirement plans. But you, O Lord, are a far better rest and refuge from distress.
I am safe when I make myself strong in you
.  You are as surely my refuge today as when David wrote. All other strongholds are weak, because all power belongs to you. Since you are all-sufficient you are equal to my every emergency.  You are tried and proven by my trials. You never forget me when I am afflicted. You are my help—really, effectively and constantly. You are close to my side and ready to rescue, more present than any human friend or relative can be; tighter to me than even trouble itself!  To all this is the added comfort that your help comes at exactly the time of need. So how irrational is it for me to fear? You are all-power and love; why should I be afraid? You remain faithful even when I am not.
Psa. 46:10
Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
Let me be still then, and rest my soul in you. You destroy the Destroyer as long as I respect your cause and your crown. Give me rest in the midst of the storms this weekend. I will relax and wait in patience on you, for you are God. I adore you Lord, for I share the protection of your grace. The boasts of the ungodly and the worldly are hushed when I remember what you’ve done for me in the past. Make my life reflect your majesty, because even my personal history of sin, stubbornness, and pride will shine glory onto your grace once you reign.
Work all things to your own increasing worship and glory
. Amen.

HOW TO BUILD A BALANCED LIFE
1)

 TIME—WORSHIP
Mark 1:35
And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a
template
 for daily devotions. 2)

 TITHE—WORK
1 Cor 16:2
Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLAR—no questions asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our resources. 3)

 TEAM—WORD
Heb 10:25
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship  with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the same things over and over.  This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you through the Bible
chronologically
in a year. Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying.
 —Alan
Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had prayed. “Oh,” says one, “I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times and seasons for prayer.” And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore there must not be some season for more immediately coming into God’s presence. If you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayer—the posture, the time, place—rather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition. God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son.
Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
