PS-II REPORT AND SEMINAR GUIDELINES

1. MID-SEM and FINAL REPORT FORMAT/CONTENT:


A. Adhere to the proforma given to you for the Report's Cover Page, Title Page,
Abstract Sheet, and Response sheet.
Follow the template of the Cover/Title page. Here you should give your name as
per BITS records, BITS Id (capital letters), and specify your discipline of study
clearly (e.g. B.E. (Hons) xxx, M.Sc. (Hons.) yyy). Also, below the Institute's name,
mention your campus name, eg. BITS, Pilani - Pilani campus.
Do not leave any of the fields unanswered. Names and Designation of Expert
and Faculty should be correct.
The Abstract should be around 250 words, starting with the Background of the
present PS-II project, Aim/Objectives, followed by Methods/Approach, most
important Results/Findings, Conclusion, and finally Applications/Implications
of the PS-II project work.
B. Acknowledgements:
BITS:
Vice-Chancellor, BITS, Pilani; Director of your campus; Deputy
Director (off-campus); Dean, PSD, BITS, Pilani; Faculty in-charge of PSD in your
campus; PS-II Instructor.
PS-II Station: Head of organization; Coordinator; Supervisor/mentors, and
colleagues associated with present project.
Please ensure correct salutations, spellings, and designations.
C. The main Text of the Reports should be divided into the following sections
(include section and sub-section numbers):
1. Organization Profile
2. Aim/Scope of the PS-II Project
3. Introduction
4. Methodology
5. Results and Discussion
6. Conclusion
7. Recommendations (technical suggestions/trouble shooting/further expansion
of work)
8. References, followed by Appendices (if any) ---- follow uniform and standard
format for citation of references. For web resources, mention complete URL, with
date of access.

D. Include Page Numbers in the main text of the Report, starting from the
"Organization profile" section.
E. All Tables/Figures/Charts should have unique number and title:
They should be self-explanatory, with suitable Legends, row/column headings, X
and Y-axis titles, Units of measurement.
F. Overall Appearance of the Report:
a. Size: 9" * 11" (called the "quarto" size or "thesis" size).
b. Writing of the Report: Type the report in double-space (or 1.5 line spacing)
on one side of the sheet. Font Size: 12.
c. Margin: About 1" on all four sides of the sheet.

2. SEMINAR PRESENTATIONS:
a. The seminar will consist of a formal presentation of his/her PS-II Training and Project
at PS station, along with Question & Answer (Viva) on his/her Project/training.
b. The title slide should have the Project Title, PS-II organization's name, and the
name (and logo) of our Institute, and Campus Name. The title slide should have
your full name and Discipline, and BITS ID. Also include your Project Mentor(s)
name and PS-II faculty's Name. The date of presentation should be indicated.
c. Give Slide numbers to all your PPT sildes.
d. You can include self-explanatory illustrations/figures wherever suitable.
e. The presentation should also have a coherent sequence of slides --background of the organization and your project, project aim and objectives,
overview of the professional training at the PS organization, Methodology, key
findings (results), discussion of results (interpretation of findings), conclusion, and
technical recommendations. In the case of mid-sem seminar, the last two points will
imply: interim conclusion, further plan of work with time frame.
f. Presentation can conclude with Important literature references, and
Acknowledgments.
