To make sure you've planned an event well, answer these questions from
meeting professional Bonnie Wallsh:
Goals and Objectives
* Why is this meeting being held?
* What are the consequences if the meeting is not held?
* What are the long-range anticipated outcomes?
* What specific objectives do you want attendees to achieve?
Needs Assessment
* What is the program schedule? (Are you starting the day with a breakfast
meeting and ending with a reception?)
* When will the meeting be held (week, date, time)? Is this flexible?
* What is the budget?
* Who is the ultimate decision-maker?
* What are the preferred facilities?
* What is the historical data on the meeting?
* In evaluating destinations, what are your priorities?
Attendee Profiles
* Who will develop the list of prospective attendees?
* At what level in the organization do the attendees work? (Are they executives or
front-line managers?)
* What is their age range? Income level? Proportion of males and females?
* What is their geographic location?
Program Design and Development
* What is the outline of the program?

* Will there be: General sessions? Breakouts? Panel discussions? Individual
