Offering placed on the communion rail next Sunday, during Holy Communion, is used
to help those in need in our church and the community.
Prayer Shawl Ministry will not be meeting during the summer and fall, however; we will
continue to have shawls available at the Church Office. If you have someone you would like
to have a prayer shawl, please take one - leave the name of the person receiving it and your
name.
Today is the Fifth Sunday Offering for the Children's Home. Please consider giving so
that the daily needs of the children, youth and families in their care can be meet.
MOVING FORWARD will meet at the church on June 1st at 11:00 am. Please bring a bag
lunch.
SHARING OUR LOVE AND OUTREACH PROGRAMS: Our out reach program for the
first two weeks in June will be bottled water for the Womens Domestic Violence Center.
Just a bottle of water to carry with you during the day is something we take for grantedbut
for these women and children it is a life saver. Please consider bringing in a six pack or case
of 16 oz. bottles of water, and/or the half size bottles of water for the children. Thank You!
SISTERS OF SOUL are the hosts for our fellowship luncheons on the first Sunday of each
month. On June 7th we will be saying Good-bye to Pastor Daryl and on July 5th we say
Hello to Pastor Brian. We know many of you will want to join us. Because of the increase in
people here for lunch on these days, we are requesting that if you are able, please bring in a
food item to share for both occasions. We will be ordering special cakes for each luncheon.
Please and Thank You!

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Today I will encourage someone in their faith.
Prayer: Dear Lord, you have encouraged us in many ways. Help us to be encouraging to others. Amen.

A Memorial Day Litany

By Chaplain Jackson H. Day

In peace let us pray to the Lord:

In peace let us pray to the Lord:

Leader: For those who have given their lives for their country & whose graves we visit this Memorial
Day weekend, that they may rest in Gods peace & that their sacrifice may inspire in us who live a
commitment to the ideals for which they perished, we pray to the Lord.

All: Lord hear our prayer.

All: Lord hear our prayer.

Leader: For our veterans, whom we have sent to far countries on our behalf, and who for us have
often endured fear, trauma & sorrow that no human should have to face, that they may receive healing
of their hearts & a welcome home from their towns, their families, and their churches, we pray to the
Lord.

Leader: For our men & women serving under orders this day, especially those who may be in
situations of danger or captivity, that they may be inspired by the ideal of duty, may conduct
themselves with honor, may love country second only to God, and may receive strength to every
challenge they face, we pray to the Lord.

Leader: For ourselves, our congregation & pastor & all persons of faith, that recognizing the
expression in works which must result from an experience of faith, we may be builders of community
as well as seekers of salvation, we may seek outer peace as well as inner harmony, and justice for our
world as well as fairness for ourselves, to the end that the dwelling of God may be with us, and we
shall be Gods people, that the former things pass away and war shall be no more, we pray to the
Lord.
