CourseDescription

Thecourseprovidesanintroductiontopolymernanocompositestechnologyandconstituents
involvedinthegenerationofnanocomposites.Italsoanalyzestheimportanceoftheinterface
betweentheorganicandinorganiccomponents.Itisfollowedbyoverviewofsynthesis
technologiesfornanocompositesaswellaspropertycharacterizationmethods.Modelingthe
mechanicalresponseofnanocompositesusingDoEmethodsandotherfiniteelementormicro
mechanicalmodelspresentintheliteraturewouldbeundertaken.Practicalapplicationsof
nanocompositesinvariousfieldswouldbediscussed.

Attendance

Classattendanceismandatory.Studentsareexpectedtoattendallclasses.Attendancewillbe
takenatthebeginningofeachclass.Missingaclassduetounexcusedabsencewillbecounted
asanabsenceandmaterialsincludingexamscannotbemadeup.Everyunexcusedabsence
willresultinonepercentreductionofthefinalgrade.Thereductionwillbeeffectiveafter
missingmaximumofthree50minuteslotclasses.Excusedabsencemustbeauthenticatedby
theStudentAffairsandbroughttotheinstructorimmediately(withinaweek)toconsider
makingupanyexammissed.Studentsshouldrealizethattheinstructorhastherightofnot
acceptinganauthenticatedexcuseifheorsheobservedregularityofsuchmanner.

everyoneintheclasstogetanAoraF.Ifastudentbelievesthatanerrorwasmadeingrading
thequizandexam,heorsheshouldwriteashortjustificationclaimandattachittotheoriginal
assignmentandsubmitittotheinstructor.Theinstructorwillreviewtheconcernandrespond
tothestudentdirectly.Suchclaimsmustbesubmittedbeforeoneweekofreturningthe
