SADA ENGLISH MODULE OF

PASUKAN GERAK SAGA DAERAH

LAHAD DATU 2009
FOR
LOWER ENGLISH PROFICIENCY YEAR SIX

Preface
The purpose of developing this module is to facilitate the lower English
proficiency year six students learning based on fun-learning lessons in the classrooms.
The module consists of some suggested games that can be added and integrated into
daily lessons. It is a compilation and adaptation of the existing activities and games that
some of us might have conducted in our classrooms ages ago. Though it is obvious
when we teach year six, we tend to forget to make our lessons alive.
Thus, dear fellow colleagues, this module sampled out some activities which can
assure more interesting and exciting lessons in the classrooms. It is believed that these
activities help sustaining the interest of learning English language among the low
proficiency year six students. It is hoped that though this module will not be the best
module ever, it will at least filled some of the small empty gaps in our lessons that seem
to be missing and fading slowly.
With that, on behalf of the Lahad Datu PGSD, I would like to extend my deepest
gratitude to all my fellow contributors who had spent their time, efforts and energy in
making this module.
Thank you.

Regards,

DORENDA BIONO
Ketua PGSD Lahad Datu

A long time ago, there lived a cobbler, his wife and his son in a
small village. They sold fruit and vegetables at the market. Jem was
twelve years old and very handsome.

One day, an old woman came to their stall. She had a small,
sharp and wrinkled face. Her eyes were red. She went slowly to their
stall. She put her hands into the fruits basket. She held some apples
to her nose to sniff. Jems mother was upset. Jem became angry and
said, Youre an awful woman. Go away!

The old woman laughed. Its rude to talk to the eldest like
that. I will pay you for what you did. She went off laughing. She
touched Jems shoulder and suddenly he screamed loudly and
fainted. When he woke up, the stall was empty.

He saw people laughing at him. He saw his mother and asked,

Why do you look so sad mother?
Im not your mother, you ugly dwarf! My son, Jem disappeared
a few weeks ago. He was stolen from us.

36
The people in the market chased Jem away. He went to the river
and looked at his reflection in the water. He was so sad to see his ugly
face. His eyes were red and tiny. His nose was huge. His legs were

dad this year? We went to the Natural History Museum for the day and I got him a
brontosaurus tie. It says I DIG BONES on it. He wears it to work everyday.
Wow, sighed Sam. A tie sounded a whole lot more useful than a painting. Sam
kicked at stones as he walked towards the park. PJ was playing on the tyre swing.
Hey, PJ! he said. What did you give your dad for his birthday? PJ swung
down and landed with a thud. I got him a model spaceship. It has over five hundred
pieces. He loves it so much hes still working on it!
Sounds great, said Sam, booting a big pebble into the duck pond. Sam walked
on past the skate ramp, where he saw Kim wrestling with her kite.
Kim! Any ideas about what I should get my dad for his birthday?
I got my dad a chemistry set, said Kim. He got a real blast out of it!
Cool! said Sam.
And all he had ever given his dad were paintings.
