Explanation:
This is a Danish pavilion showcased at the Shanghai Expo in 2010. It was designed
by 3 companies: BIG, ARUP and 2+1. The big spiral loop of the pavilion allows for
visitors to ride bicycles around it. In the centre of the huge spiral lies a pool with
water for visitors to swim in. It is made of steel and is 3km2 in size.
This is a multi-purpose pavilion built in Seaford, Australia in 2011 for a lawn bowls
club. It was designed by Jackson Clements Burrows Architects. It is made primarily
of timber and concrete and is 580 m 2 in size. The shape of this building is meant to
resemble the sand dunes found in the area.
Pros:
Pros:
Steel allows for the building to be cool during Chinas hot summer (could be
useful for South Africas hot summer)
Pleasing to the eye
Handicap-friendly (ramp)
Cons:
Not really multipurpose
Probably expensive to build
Almost too spacious
Handicap-friendly
Multipurpose building with caf and centre
Multifunction building in that it hosts bowls and Sea Scouts
Cons:
Not incredibly appealing to the eye
Not my idea of resembling a sand dune
Very harsh, sharp looking building
