Ph.D. ENTRANCE TEST-2014
The University of Mumbai invites applications for The Pre Ph.D Entrance Test (PET) to be
conducted in the concerned subjects of research in the Faculty of Arts, Commerce, Science, Law and
Technology. The details of which are as follows:

Date and Time of Entrance Test:- Saturday, 8th March, 2014 at 11.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.
Starting date for acceptance of application form: - Friday,7th February, 2014.
Last date for acceptance of application form: - Friday, 21st February, 2014.
Eligibility: - As per Annexure-I (VCD No. Exam/Thesis/Univ./VCD/2414 of 2010). Please refer
Annexure-II (The relevant University circular 441 of 2005, for O.5473 and O.5476). Candidates
appearing for Sem-III/IV of the post-graduate programmes under CBGS or for Part-II of
the post-graduate programmes under old course may be allowed to appears for PET-2014.
However,their PET results shall be valid only after successfully clearing the post-graduate
programmes (with 55% marks for general category students and 50% marks for reserved
category students)
Registration fees along with Application Form:- A Demand Draft in the name of 'Finance &
Accounts Officer' of the University of Mumbai OR in cash of Rs.1000/- for General Category and
Rs.500/- for Reserved Category as mentioned in Annexure-I.( VCD).
.Syllabus for the Entrance Test: - PET-2014 shall be conducted in the subjects enlisted in
Annexure-III.(List of Subjects for PET-2014). The syllabus for PET in a given subject shall be
the various topics in the Compulsory/Core subjects/papers for the Post Graduate Degree Level
Programme of the University of Mumbai for that subject.
Exemption from appearing for PET :- As mentioned in clause No.9 of Annexure-I(VCD/2414
of 2010).
Forms for PET: Annexure-VI.
Annexures IV and V provide information regarding subject wise and centre wise vacancies
for PhD seats. However, the exact number of vacancy may vary due to transfer of guiding teacher
or vacancies being created or terminated in the intermittent period.

Important:
1. The candidates may download the Application Form for the said Entrance Test from the
University website and submit in DUPLICATE along with ONLY ONE SET of RELEVANT
ATTESTED CERTIFICATES and DOCUMENTS (if any), to the Room No.129, First Floor,
Thesis Section, Fort Campus of the University on or before 21st February, 2014, up to 2.30 p.m.
2. Incompletely filled forms if submitted, will be rejected.
3. The Pre Ph.D. Course work is mandatory except for those who have been granted exemption as
per U.G.C. rules and regulations which are mentioned in the VCD No. Exam./Thesis/
Univ./VCD/ 2414 of 2010. The details regarding the same is available on the University
