Pag-ayo nga Bunga sang Pagtuo

M

adamo nga mga bagay ang
nagasulod sa aton panghunahuna kon aton basahon kag
padaluman sing maid-id ang mga dinalan
sang Ebanghelyo sa sini nga Domingo
suno kay San Marcos. Apang kon aton gid
sia.
Subong man sa lamharon nga anak sang
nga may malubha nga balatian kag napatay
samtang nagapadulong pa lang ang aton
Ginoo sa ila puluy-an. Iya ginsilingan
Dungan
sang Iya pag-uyat sang kamot sang bata,
naghambal Sia: “Talitha, kuom” - kon
sayuron “Bata nga babaye, magbangon ka”.
Sa gilayon nagbangon ang bata nga babaye
kag naglakat-lakat sa sulod sang kwarto.

Vic G. Aguisanda
Sa subong nga panahon, madamo
ukon halos tanan kita - bata ukon tigulang,
babaye ukon lalaki - may nagakalain-lain
nga ginabatyag sa aton kalawasan. Ang mga
may sarang nagapakonsulta gilayon sa mga
espesyalista nga mga manugbulong ukon
nagadiretso sa ospital agud magpabulong;
bulong kon may inugbakal, kag kon wala
man nga ginpa-ayo si Ginoong Jesukristo
kasubong sadtong isa ka aruon (Mt. 8:23). May isa man ka kapitan sang mga
soldado nga pagano nga nagpangabay kay
Ginoong Jesus nga bulngon ang iya kabulig
nga paralitiko. Naghambal si Ginoong
Jesukristo nga kadtuan Niya ini sa iya sa
puloy-an apang nagsabat ang kapitan nga
“indi sia takos nga magbaton sang Ginoo sa
sulod sang iya puluy-an, apang sa Iya lang
pagmando ukon paghambal nagapati sia
nga maga-ayo sa gilayon ang iya kabulig”.
Nakibot gid si Ginoong Jesukristo sa
ginhambal sang opisyal nga pagano kag

Iya sia ginsingganan: “Pauli ka kay ang imo
pagtuo matuman.” Kag pag-abot niya sa iya
puloy-an maayo na ang iya kabulig (Mt. 8:513).
May isa man ka paralitiko nga ginpaayo
5:17-26. Subong pa gid may isa man ka
bata nga may balatian nga kuyap (epilepsy)
sang Dios.
Mangamuyo kita indi lamang sa aton
pag-ayo kundi ilabi kag labaw sa tanan
sa pag-ayo kag pagtadlong sang aton
pagpangabuhi sentro sa kabubut-on sang
Dios, kag giyahan kita sang Espiritu Santo

S

Ang Sakramento sang Kasal sa Kodigo sang Derecho Kanoniko
sini wala sing lugar ang diborsyo kag ang
pagpakasal sa iban samtang nagakabuhi pa
ang isa sa ila.

a sini nga bahin, akon na man ipaathag
ang Kasugoan sang Simbahan nga
Katoliko nahanungod sa institusyon
sang kasal bilang Sakramento.
man ukon wala, mga Katoliko man ukon indi,
Kodigo sang Derecho Kanoniko.
1. Ano ang Sakramento sang Kasal?
Ang Sakramento sang Kasal amo ang
kasugtanan sa tunga sang isa ka nabunyagan
nga lalaki kag babayi nga sa diin ila
ginatukod ang isa ka paghiliusa sang bug-os
nila nga kabuhi kag ini nga paghiliusa, sa iya
kaugalingon nga kinaugali, ginapatungod
para sa kaayohan sang mag-asawa kag sa
pagbun-ag, pagpadaku kag pagpatuon sa
mga kabataan.
Sa
sini
nga
paghangup,
ang
Sakramento sang Kasal may duha ka
tinutuyo: ang kaayohan sang magasawa kag ang pagpanganak. Sa tinutuyo
sang pagpanganak, nalakip na dira ang
pagpadaku kag pagpatuon sa kabataan nga
ginpanganak.
Sa amo man nga bagay, ang Sakramento

source: www.pilgrimreaderbooks.com

may iban pa nga lalaki ukon babayi nga
ila ginapakig-hiusahan. Subong man, ini
nga pag-updanay nagalawig samtang
nagakabuhi ang mag-asawa, kag naga-untat
lamang kon ang isa sa ila mapatay. Tungod

ginapirmahan bisan pa nga ini tama man ka
importante.
Ini
amo ang mga masunod:
a) Ang Pagpasugot ukon ang
Kaugalingon nga Binubuot sa Pagpakasal
Kinahanglan
ang
nagapakasal
Kinahanglan
nga
sundon
sang
nagapakasal ang pamaagi sa pagpahayag
sang ila tuyo sa pagpakasal suno sa
ginatukod sang kasugoan – sang Simbahan
man ukon sang gobyerno civil.

Pamilya nga Kristohanon, Yawa Wala sing Gahom

S

a aton pagpanglakaton bilang
parokya, nagapati ako nga kon may
isa ka butang nga indi dapat naton
pagkalimtan tatapon kag buligan, ini amo
ang pamilya. Sa sini nga panahon, ang
pamilya amo ang paborito nga “target”
ni Satanas bangud kay kon maluya
ang pagtuo sang pamilya kag mangin
kalibutanon ang values sini, ang yawa
madali makapanghikot sa tagsa ka katapo
sang pamilya.
Matuod nga madamo man ang mga
pamilya nga maayo kag nangin madinalagon sa kabuhi apang may mga pamilya man
nga tuman ka problemado kag kabudlay
sang ila pangabuhi. I believe that we must
increase our awareness about the different
situations of our families because in doing
so, we will be able to do something to help
the basic unit of our society, the domestic
Church which is the family!

Wala
man gid matuod ginakulang sa kwarta
apang mabatyagan sang mga kabataan nga
daw kulang ang presensiya, paghigugma
kag pagkabalaka. Wala sila sing ginikanan
nga maistoryahan sang ila mga problema.
Gani, kon ma-depress sila, imbis nga ang
Dios amo ang dangpan, lain-lain ang ila
mga ginapang-obra. They cope unhealthily
with the problems that they encounter in
life. Amo ini ang rason nga may mabatian
kita nga mga balita nahanungod sa mga
pamatan-on nga nagkomitir sang suicide,
nag-entra sa mga fraternities, naggamit
sang druga, nag-untat sa pag-eskwela kag
iban pa. Buot silingon, nagpatuyang sila sa
ila pangabuhi. Sa sini nga mga sitwasyon,
nagayuhum-yuhum si Satanas bangud
kay pigado ang espiritwal kag moral nga
pangabuhi sang mga tawo. Matuod gid ang

ginahambal sa pangamuyo kay St. Michael
the Archangel: “Satan and other evil spirits
prowl into the world for the ruin of souls.”
Sa sini nga kahimtangan pastoral
sang aton parokya, nagapati ako nga
kinahanglan naton mangin pro-active
sa aton mga efforts sa pagpabakud sang
kabuhi sang aton pamilya. Madamo kag
malapad ang concerns sang family life! Kon
layi, basi ma-miss out naton ang iban nga
mga concerns nga importante man agud
matipigan ang kabuhi sang pamilya.
Most importantly, let us make our
families truly Christian families where
Christ is at the center. Let us make our
families “prayerful communities” where
Satan and other evil spirits don’t have
power because Christ reigns in the hearts
of each member of our family.

elationship is a connection between
an individual to another individual
whether they agree with each other
or not. It is a bond that we form while we
are discovering the mysteries of life or
while we are unraveling the life that the
Lord has given us. We encounter some
strangers along the way who will be a part
of our life someday.
I remember that time when our parents
said, “Never talk to strangers, they may
have bad intentions towards you.” Well,
in most cases children disobey this order.
They even have a nice conversation with
a stranger. But if I did follow their orders
that time, then I would never have met
such wonderful people - people who have
helped build me for what I am now.

Relationships
Mia Joy B. Gimeno

Being a part of the scholars’ program,
I was given the opportunity to encounter
people with different stories and with
different lives. Funny, how we feel being
merely a strangers to one another at first;
we don’t even look at each other’s eyes nor
talk to one another. Luckily, most of us are
gifted in talking and approaching that even
the awkwardness itself is nowhere to be
found.
The parish has many programs that
the scholars had participated in these past
few months. “Visita Casa” is one of them.
It is a new program which we, scholars,
together with Fr. Nathaniel, had recently
done. This program enables us to visit
the homes of our fellow scholars. We got
to know them more and we listen to their

stories; how they surpass the challenges
that God has given them. We give them our
blessings and pray for their families
In this journey, we have developed
stronger relationships with one another.
We have learned to smile even if we have
problems ahead and we laugh at the
mistakes we have made. We have cried
with them and worried about them. We
joke around with words but we are serious
in what we do. We argue sometimes and
get mad because of some misunderstanding
but we never left it unsolved. We may lack
faith before but now we are strengthening
it more. These relationships that we have
with one another is now one step ahead in
our journey and will continue to grow more
as long as we stand together and with God
guiding us in every step of the way.

:: Gospel Reflection

Ginbuhi ni Jesus ang Anak ni Jairo

Nagtabok liwat sa linaw
si Jesus nga sakay sa sakayan.
Samtang didto sia sa higad
sang linaw, nagtipon sa Iya ang
madamo nga mga tawo. 22Dayon
nag-abot ang isa ka opisyal sang
sinagoga nga ginahingalanan
nga Jairo.
Sang pagkakita
niya kay Jesus naghapa sia sa
tiilan Niya 23kag nagpakitluoy,
“Nagahimomugto na ang akon
anak nga dalagita, kadto-i sia,
palihog, kag itungtong sa iya ang
imo mga kamot agud mag-ayo sia
kag mabuhi.”
24
Si Jesus naglakat upod sa
iya, nagsunod sa Iya ang madamo
nga mga tawo nga nagaginutok sa
palibot Niya. 25May babaye didto
nga nagadugo sa sulod sang dose
ka tuig. 26Nag-antus sia sing tama
sa pagpabulong sa madamo nga
mga manugbulong kag nagasto
na niya ang tanan niya nga kuarta
pero wala sia mag-ayo kundi
naglain pa gani. 27Nakabati sia
sang mga sugid nahanungod kay
Jesus, gani nagpalapit sia sa likod
ni Jesus sa tunga sang madamo
nga mga tawo kag gintandog niya
ang Iya bayo. 28Naghunahuna
sia, “Kon matandog ko lang ang
Iya bayo, magaayo na ako.” 29Sa
gilayon nag-untat ang pag-ilig
sang iya dugo kag nabatyagan
niya nga nag-ayo na sia sa iya
balatian.
30
Sa gilayon nabatyagan
man ni Jesus nga may gahum nga
naggua sa Iya gani nagbalikid
Sia sa madamo nga mga tawo
kag
nagpamangkot,
“Sin-o
ang nagtandog sang Akon
bayo”? 31Nagsabat ang iya mga
gintuton-an, “Nakita Mo na nga
nagaginutok ang madamo nga
mga tawo sa palibot Mo. Ngaa
bala nagapamangkot Ka pa: Sin-o
21

Pamalandong

ang nagligad sa Ebanghelyo
ni San Marcos kag ni San
Lucas nagsaysay sila sang
pagpatinong ni Jesus sang unos
sa dagat kag pag-ayo sang tawo
nga nasudlan sang demonyo sa
Gerasa (Lk 8:36-37). Subong
naman duha ka milagro ang
nahanabo nga ginhimo ni Jesus,
ang kaso sang napatay kag
ang babae nga wala nagaayo
ang masakit. Ang Ebanghelyo
subong nagasaysay sang gahum
ni Jesus sa kinaiya sang kalibutan
(nature) kag sa mga di-kinandan
nga mga nagakahinabo.

ang nagtandog sa Akon?” Apang
nagpadayon Sia sa pagtan-aw sa
palibot kon sin-o ang naghimo
sini. 33Sang matalupangdan sang
babaye kon ano gid ang natabo sa
iya, nagpalapit sia nga nagakurog
sa kahadlok.
Nagluhod sia
sa atubangan ni Jesus kag
nagsugid sa Iya sang bug-os nga
kamatuoran.
34
Si Jesus nagsiling sa iya,
“Anak, ginluwas ka sang imo
pagtuo. Lakat ka sa paghidait kag
mag-ayo ka na sa imo balatian.
35
sang sinagoga kag nagpahibalo,
“Patay na ang imo anak nga
babaye. Ngaa tublagon mo pa ang
Manunodlo?” 36Apang si Jesus
wala magsapak sang ila ginsiling.
Nagsiling Sia sa opisyal sang
sinagoga. “Indi ka magkahadlok,
magtuo ka lamang.” 37Wala Sia
magtugot nga mag-upod sa Iya
ang iban luas kanday Pedro,
Santiago kag Juan nga utod ni
Santiago.
32

Sa
kaangtanan
sining
Ebanghelyo may tatlo ka bagay
kita nga matun-an. Una ang
babaye nag-ayo tungod sang
iya daku nga pagtuo kay Jesus
kag indi tungod sa magic nga
sa iya pagtandog sa panapton
ni Jesus magaayo sia. Ikaduha
ang pagbuhi sang anak ni Jairus
nagapamatuod kon sin-o si Kristo
Jesus, nagapamatuod nga Sia Dios,
ang Mesias, ang pagkabanhaw
kag ang kabuhi. Matt 11:5 quotes
Isa 35. It is Jesus who guarantees
our resurrection from the dead.
Ikatatlo amo ang pagpatunga
(intercession) ni Jairus nga amay

Sang
pag-abot
nila
sa balay sang opisyal sang
sinagoga, nakita ni Jesus ang
mga tawo nga nagaginahod,
may mga nagahilibion kag may
mga nagahaya sing mabaskog.
39
Nagsulod Sia kag nagsiling
sa ila, “Ngaa nagaginahod kag
nagahinibi kamo? Indi patay ang
bata kundi nagakatulog lang.”
40
Ginkadlawan
nila
Sia.
Apang ginpagua ni Jesus sila
tanan. Ginpaupod Niya sa Iya
mga kaupdanan ang amay kag
iloy sang bata kag nagsulod Sia sa
ginahamyangan sang bata. 41Ginuyatan Niya ang bata sa kamot kag
ginsingganan, “Talita kum”kon
sayuron, “Nene, nagasiling ako sa
imo, bangon ka.”
42
Sa gilayon ang dalagita
nagbangon
kag
naglakat.
Nagaedad sia sing dose ka tuig.
Bangud sini, naurongan gid
sila. 43Ginmanduan sila ni Jesus
nga indi ini pag-ipanugid bisan
kay sin-o, kag ginsingganan sila
nga hatagan sang makaon ang
dalagita.
38

sang bata nga nagpangayo bulig
kay Jesus. Ang iya pagpangayo
bulig ukon pangamuyo nga puno
sing pagtuo ang nakapaayo kag
nakasalbar sang iya anak.
Pamangkot

1. Ano nga aspeto sang imo
kabuhi ang nagakinahanglan
sang pag-ayo gikan sa Ginoo?
2. Ano ang mga hitabo sa imo
kabuhi nga ginluwas ka sang
imo pagtuo sa Dios?
3. Paano mo ginpaambit ang
pag-ayo sang Ginoo sa imo
kabuhi sa iban nga tawo?

ANILA, June 25, 2015 – It is not
something new but Pope Francis’
citation of Filipino bishops in his
groundbreaking letter on the environment
shows that local efforts on caring for creation
are on the “right track”, a church official said.
In his nearly 200-page encyclical
entitled  Laudato Si’  (Be Praised), the pontiff
cited a document of the Catholic Bishops’
Conference of the Philippines on the
environment.
“Who turned the wonder world of the seas
into underwater cemeteries bereft of color
and life?” the Pope quoted a CBCP pastoral
letter on ecology when he talked about the
destruction of marine resources.

‘Right direction’
Published in January 1988, the statement
entitled “What is happening to our beautiful
land?” is the world’s first pastoral letter of
Catholic bishops on the environment.
The landmark document was even
adopted and published by the United States
Conference of Catholic Bishops.
After almost three decades, Laudato Si’ is
said to be the Vatican’s first major teaching on
the environment and climate change.
Archbishop Socrates Villegas, CBCP
president, said the citation was recognition of
the pastoral efforts of the local Church in the
area of ecological stewardship.
“It is an affirmation that we in the
Philippines are in the right direction in
teaching that creation is a gift that must be
cared for,” Villegas said.
He, however, clarified that this was not
the first time the Pope cited the CBCP in an
encyclical.
According to him, the pontiff also quoted a
CBCP statement in his first encyclical, Evangelii
Gaudium (The joy of the Gospel).

Moral guidance
The CBCP head said the Pope’s second
encyclical offers moral guidance and seeks to
address humanity’s indifference to the earth.
He said the letter provides perspectives
on the need for a better approach to ecological
problems and its effects to the poor.

Pope Affirms CBCP ‘Ecology Efforts’ in New Encylical

“This
is
why
the
Pope’s encyclical on the
worrisome and truly pressing
environmental and ecological
issues should be truly
exciting,” Villegas said.
While the church’s first
major teaching letter on
climate change is not about
science, he said talks on the
issue should not be left to
scientists alone.
“The
roots
of
our
indifference to environmental
and
ecological
concerns
— which, in the ultimate
analysis, are concerns for
the good of all — and the
sinful dispositions in all of us
that make us contributors to
the depredation of a world
entrusted to our stewardship,
these are what scientists
cannot teach us. All these,
the encyclical promises to
address,” Villegas said.
The CBCP chief then
called on the faithful to heed
the Pope’s call to preserve the
environment and to protect
communities from climate
change consequences.
“We are still suffering
from the sweltering heat of
this summer, and hardly anyone will contest
the claim that this was among the hottest of
summers we have ever gone through. We
are also warned about more erratic weather
systems including more violent typhoons,”
Villegas added.
“But the Pope’s letter will remain
nothing more than ink on paper until we all
allow ourselves to be won over by St. Francis’
exaltation of all of created reality,” he also said.
Caritas’ inspiration
For Caritas Internationalis President
Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, the encyclical
will guide the agency’s work around the
world for years to come.
“I visit communities where people are

living on trash heaps. Children are born in
trash, grow up and die there. They feel like
trash. This is not God’s creation, this is manmade,” Tagle told Zenit.
“Pope Francis is inviting everyone to
reflect on this reality. He is calling on us
to ‘aim for a new lifestyle,’ to change the
economic structures that have caused so
much harm and regain our responsibility for
others and the world. Laudato Si’ will inspire
the work of Caritas organizations [for] years
to come,” he said.
Aside from the environment, the
encyclical also touches key aspects of Caritas’
work such as labor exploitation, agriculture,
and social inequity. (Roy Lagarde/

Pope to Families: Don’t Involve Kids in Adult Drama

une 24, 2015. As he usually does before
starting his weekly general audience, Pope
Francis made a few rounds in St. Peter’s
Square in the popemobile, greeting the crowds
and blessing children along the way.
In his catechesis, the Pope talked about
the troubles that often rise in marriage. Pain
and misunderstandings that come from
words, actions or omissions.
“When wounds that are still repairable are
ignored, they become even more aggravated.
They turn into arrogant attitudes of hostility
and contempt. At that point, they can become

CANDLE LIGHT (June 28-July 4, 2015)

deep lacerations that can divide husband and
wife.”
The Pope also talked about children.
When spouses don’t deal with their emotions,
said the Pope, they often turn to anger and
friction, which inevitably affects children.
“When adults lose their heads. When they
only think of themselves. When mom and dad
hurt each other, the soul of children suffer. It
triggers a sense of desperation. They become
wounds that leave a mark for their entire lives.”
The Pope also added that parents cannot
buy their children’s affection or compensate

for their hurtful words with gifts.
“When a man and woman are committed
to being one flesh and having a family, but
then they obsessively think of their own wants,
freedoms and gratifications...this distortion
deeply wounds the hearts of children.”
With preparations underway for the
Synod on the Family, in the month of October,
the Pope also called for the Church to reflect on
how it can better accompany those in so called
‘irregular situations,’ which ofteninclude
divorced and re-married couples.

Feast of Sts. Peter and Paul

n June 29 the Church celebrates the
feast day of Sts. Peter & Paul. As early
as the year 258, there is evidence of an
already lengthy tradition of celebrating the
solemnities of both Saint Peter and Saint Paul
on the same day. Together, the two saints are
the founders of the See of Rome, through their
preaching, ministry and martyrdom there.
Peter, who was named Simon, was a
fisherman of Galilee and was introduced to
the Lord Jesus by his brother Andrew, also a
fisherman. Jesus gave him the name Cephas
(Petrus in Latin), which means ‘Rock,’ because
he was to become the rock upon which Christ
would build His Church.
Peter was a bold follower of the Lord.
He was the first to recognize that Jesus was
“the Messiah, the Son of the living God,” and
eagerly pledged his fidelity until death. In
his boldness, he also made many mistakes,
however, such as losing faith when walking
on water with Christ and betraying the Lord
on the night of His passion.
Yet despite his human weaknesses, Peter
was chosen to shepherd God’s flock. The Acts
of the Apostles illustrates his role as head
of the Church after the Resurrection and
Ascension of Christ. Peter led the Apostles as
the first Pope and ensured that the disciples
kept the true faith.
St. Peter spent his last years in Rome,
leading the Church through persecution and

eventually being martyred in the year 64. He
was crucified upside-down at his own request,
because he claimed he was not as worthy to
die as his Lord.
He was buried on Vatican hill, and St.
Peter’s Basilica is built over his tomb.
St. Paul was the Apostle of the Gentiles.
His letters are included in the writings of the
New Testament, and through them we learn
much about his life and the faith of the early
Church.
Before receiving the name Paul, he
was Saul, a Jewish pharisee who zealously
persecuted Christians in Jerusalem. Scripture

records that Saul was present at the
martyrdom of St. Stephen.
Saul’s conversion took place as he was on
his way to Damascus to persecute the Christian
community there. As he was traveling along
the road, he was suddenly surrounded by a
great light from heaven. He was blinded and
fell off his horse. He then heard a voice saying
to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?”
He answered: “Who are you, Lord?” Christ
said: “I am Jesus,
whomTecla
you are
persecuting.”
Venerable
Merlo
Saul continued to Damascus, where he
was baptized and his sight was restored. He
took the name Paul and spent the remainder
of his life preaching the Gospel tirelessly to the
Gentiles of the Mediterranean world.
Paul was imprisoned and taken to Rome,
where he was beheaded in the year 67.
He is buried in Rome in the Basilica of St.
Paul Outside the Walls.
In a sermon in the year 395, St. Augustine
of Hippo said of Sts. Peter and Paul: “Both
apostles share the same feast day, for these
two were one; and even though they suffered
in different ways, they were as one.
Peter went first, and Paul followed. And so
we celebrate this day that is made holy for
us by the Apostles’ blood. Let us embrace
what they believed, their life, their labors,
their sufferings, their preaching, and their
confession of faith.”

CANDLE LIGHT (June 28-July 4, 2015)

Are You God’s Child?
Pureza D. Lacuesta

I

f you are then, everyone around you is your
brother or your sister. We are all God’s
children, no matter who we are, and what
we are.
There are many religions existing in this
world, but they still believe in one Supreme
Being. We may preach the Catholic faith;
take it to other nations, to other provinces,
cities, or barrios, but even if we are dedicated
to the apostolate, we cannot expect that our
preachings and our noble examples will
always triumph.
In the “cursillo for Christianity”, the
last rollo is: After Cursillo, what? This rollo
is an appeal to the cursillistas to propagate
the Catholic faith from home, to office, to
educational institutions, to government and
private firms, to far-flung barrios, in fact,
anywhere, everywhere.
After working in this apostolate, for some
years with my husband, I decided to form
the Junior Cursillo movement which was
formed after the approval of the Archdiocese.
Being a teacher in the elementary school
in the District of Pototan I, I was given the
responsibility of training the school choir and
the speech contestants. I took the opportunity
of organizing the Value Formation for children
from Grade I to Grade VI. It progressed and
inspired by the results, our District Supervision
had a grotto built in the school ground near
the library where we prayed the rosary every
afternoon.
The Iloilo Division Superintendent
wanted me to go to other schools and spread
the apostolate but I told him that I couldn’t
sacrifice my Saturdays and Sundays because,

while Monday thru Friday is for the school, my
Saturday and Sunday are for the Church.
My husband and I, did everything we
could since 1950 and we only ended doing the
apostolate together when he left for the U.S. in
1991.
I am already in my waning years, but every
time I have the chance to do my apostolate I do
it, thru speaking and writing.
There are some products of our
apostolate who have become nuns and priests.
Whenever, I have the chance to reminisce my
experiences, I feel as if my strength is coming
back and I want to go to the mountains again
– cross rivers and streams, walk in muddy
ditches and meet strange people. While doing
the apostolate, it is so nice to see that change
in those who have been so hard during the
seminar.
The apostolate is a beautiful activity
where time is forgotten, where the labor of
love increases the desire to remove the nails
from Jesus’ Hands and Feet, to wipe away the
blood and perspiration from His Head, down
to His Feet.
Last year, the Principal of a Catholic
school, requested me to conduct a Value
Formation Seminar for her teachers and
other employees. I did the lectures alone, and
instead of getting tired, I enjoyed, while two of
my children assisted me in the process.
I am old in years but I can still recall the
lectures of the seminar I used to give. Preaching
is only one road leading to the temple of God’s
children. There are many paths.
At home, imbue the virtue of piety by
teaching the household to pray the angelus,

and also the daily recitation of the Holy Rosary.
If possible, have an altar at home where
everybody will be reminded of God’s presence
always.
Today, when I look at the picture of God
the Father, I regret that I have just practiced
the devotion to Him in my waning years. Why?
I ask myself. Why did I not discover this during
my younger days, when Mr. Lacuesta and l
were still at the height of our apostolate? We
could have brought the devotion to God the
Father to the barrios, to the cities, to schools,
to the mountains, to offices, anywhere we
went. I ask for help from Him when storms are
expected, when friends and family members
are sick, when a fire is announced, when
drug abuse is rampant, when heavy drinking
becomes dangerous.
L et us start my dear brothers and sisters,
to build a community of love. Forget harmful
gossips and forgive harsh words and insults.
Train your heart to forgive and love those who
envy or hate you. Let love and forgiveness
grow in the garden of our heart, fertilize them
with the precious perfume of charity and water
then with the drops of piety. Whenever we are
tempted to be the opposite, let us remember
how Jesus sacrificed as man because as God
He could not feel any pain at all. He gave up
His life on Calvary so that we will be cleansed
and purified. Let us not forget the generosity
of Jesus. Let us not forget God the Father’s
love and His desire for us to be with Him in His
Eternal Home.
My question: What is life without God?
How does a child feel in his Divine Father’s
arms?
