Hire Salary
Applicants hired for this
position will start at $907.00
biweekly/$12.09 per
hour. After successfully
completing all initial
Correctional Officer training
programs, the incumbent will
receive a salary increase to
$1062.00 biweekly/$14.16
per hour. Completion of the
Correctional Officer training
curriculum takes place after 6
months of employment.

The Correctional Officer Trainee works in the Pendleton Juvenile
Correctional Facility. She/He is responsible for following post orders,
maintaining order, supervising and controlling offenders and their
activities. The incumbent works on an assigned shift in a specific unit/
or post under the general supervision of a Correctional Sergeant. The
Correctional Officer Trainee maintains the security of the unit as well as
the safety of staff and offenders while ensuring daily activities and
programs proceed on schedule.
Responsibilities:
 Maintains order and security of offenders in facility;
 Assists supervisor in appropriate administration of security
related operations (key control, count, shakedowns, searches,
inventory, equipment maintenance, radios, security systems,
etc.);
 Maintains order and security of offenders in the facility
Preferred Experience:
Possession of a high school diploma or possession of a General
Education Development (GED) certificate. (Proof of diploma or
certificate must accompany application.) 1 -3 years work experience,
military experience and/or completed accredited college credits
preferred.
 Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
 Possession of a valid driver's license from state of residence
comparable to an Indiana license required
 Willingness to undergo a background investigation
