Its not too late to PRAY for

VBS that starts tonight.

Its also not too late to start praying for the kids that
God will call to VBS, the workers who will serve in
VBS, and the ways that the Gospel will be shared
during VBS.
Your prayers matter more than you even know.
They give strength and support to those who serve!

Each of the movements in Hebrews 11 is marked by the phrase by faith.

What we learn as we read each verse weekly, is that the people of God live
by faith at every turn. What we notice is the events dont always appear to
bless them, but they, by faith, serve as a blessing in Gods bigger plan.
Likewise, you are a blessing in His greater purposes.
Read Hebrews 11:32-35 - Now God says through His Word, What more
shall I say? Through faith in God men have conquered kingdoms, enforced
justice, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the
power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, were made strong out of
weakness, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight. There is
nothing God cannot do, and because of that, there is nothing less that
deserves your faith. It is certainly easier to put our faith in the lesser things
that surround us, but they can never deliver! Only God can deliver what He
promises!

What does the Bible say: Homosexuality

The Argument:
If you believe that homosexuality is a sin and take
Leviticus seriously then do you eat shellfish, mixing
fabrics, and stone people to death? Surely you cant
take Leviticus seriously anymore.

What the Bible Says:

First of all, not all of Leviticus is written to everyone.
There certainly were things that applied only to the
Jews such as eating shellfish, mixing fabric, and
stoning people which were things that typologically
represented impurity before the Lord. You have to
remember that Leviticus is not just a book of laws, it
is a book about holiness. The Lord declared:
Be holy, for I am holy. (Leviticus 11:44)
So certain laws were just for Israel and we know this
because God says, "Speak to the sons of Israel
saying..."giving instructions to the Israelites
specifically, not to the rest of the nations generally.
"Speak to the Sons of Israel saying..."
Leviticus 4:2 atonement for unintentional sins
Leviticus 7:23 don't eat fat ox, sheep, or goat
Leviticus 7:29 procedures for peace offering
Leviticus 11:2 animals the Israelites may eat
Leviticus 12:2 uncleanness after giving birth
Leviticus 23:24 rest on 1st day of 7th month
Leviticus 23:34 Feasts
Leviticus 24:15 cursing God will bear his sin
So, we see a host of things that dealt only with Israel.
Contextually, Leviticus Chapter 17 is about blood
atonement procedures which is for Israel alone. In
chapter 18 God says to Israel, "You shall not do what
is done in the land of Egypt where you lived, nor are
you to do what is done in the land of Canaan where
I am bringing you," (Leviticus 18:3).So now instead
of applying His Word only to Israel, God mentions
things that are done by Egypt, the land of Canaan,
ect.
What were the things those nations did?
Leviticus 18:6-18 don't uncover the nakedness of
various relatives (Incest)
Leviticus 18:19 don't have sexual relations with
woman on her period
Leviticus 18:20 don't have intercourse with your
neighbor's wife (Adultery)
Leviticus 18:21 don't offer children as sacrifice
Leviticus 18:22 don't lie with a male as with a female
(Homosexuality)
Leviticus 18:23 don't have intercourse with animals
(Bestiality)

What the argument regarding shellfish, mixed fabric,

and stoning (to mention a few) fails to take into
consideration is the three divisions (civil, ceremonial,
and moral) of the Law in Leviticus:
Civil Law:
Expired with the demise of the Jewish civil
government.
Justice practices (Lev. 24:17-23)
Law of property redemption (Lev. 25)
Be just with the poor (Lev. 19:15)
Do not hate in your heart (Lev. 19:17)
Retain just scales in commerce Lev. 19:35)
Robbery, extortion, false witness, and restitution
(Lev. 6:1-7)
Ceremonial:
Expired with the fulfillment of priestly work of
Christ (Hebrews 10:4-10)
Various sacrificial offerings for sin
(Lev. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6).
Priestly duties (Lev. 7:1-37)
Laws on animals for food (Lev. 11:1-47)
Cleaning house of leper (Lev. 14:33-57)
Law of Atonement (Lev. 16:1-28;17:1-16)
Regulations for Priests (Lev. 21,22)
Festivals (Lev. 23:1-25)
Moral:
No Expiration because it is based on Gods
character.(Hebrews 13:8)
You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am
holy, (Lev. 19:2)
Do not steal or lie (Lev. 19:12)
Do not oppress your neighbor (Lev. 19:13)
No idolatry (Lev. 26:1-13)
Dont sacrifice children to Molech (Lev. 20:1-5)
Dont commit adultery, incest, bestiality,
homosexuality, etc. (Lev. 20:9-21)
You shall love your neighbor as yourself (Lev. 19:18,
Matt. 22:37-40 - The Greatest Commandment)
Jesus alludes to and and affirms every single one of
the Levitical moral laws in the gospels. Why?
Because the call is always towards holiness.
Because the moral nature of God is the basis of who
He is. If you leave or lose Leviticus you not only give
up 1/4 of the Law, but the very character of God and
ultimately the Gospel.
