Surge protectors, required on certified lightning protection systems per UL, NFPA, and LPI standards on electrical,
telephone, data, cable TV, and other such service line entrances.
For projects requiring UL Master Label Certification, a UL 96A compliant surge protection device must be installed
at the main service entrance panel. This SPD must comply with UL 96A, UL 1449 Ed. 3, and must have the
appropriate UL markings in order to receive the UL Master Label Certification. Devices that meet UL 1449 Ed. 3
alone do not satisfy the new 2011 UL requirements for UL Master Label Certification. The device must meet both
UL 1449 Ed. 3 and UL 96A.
Our bid includes lightning protection materials for roof circuits and wall downleads only. Below grade grounding
systems for all buildings and structures are not included and must be furnished by others.
1" PVC conduit, fastened and installed as raceway for routing exposed or concealed downlead cables.
Trenching and backfilling for below grade routing of counterpoise ground loop cable at 18" minimum depth.
Bond to underground metal piping systems entering buildings as required by UL, NFPA, and LPI standards on
water, gas, storm, sanitary, conduit, and other such pipes.
Special systems grounding of electrical system bonds to building steel, signal reference grounds, bus bars,
electrical service entrance grounding, transformer grounding, telephone system grounding, etc.
Bonding of interior or exterior doors, windows, and louvers.
Bonding of interior or exterior electrical or mechanical equipment, etc.
Grounding resistance tests and ground rod test wells.
Labor estimates and materials for cutting and patching paved or landscaped areas for process of installing lightning
protection system grounding.
Compliance to NEC 250-46. Contractor is responsible for maintaining a 6'-0" distance from lightning protection
system conductor to all conductive metal components.
Lightning protection materials for any other buildings, additions, and structures, new or existing.
