Automated Lifting Machine

(Title?)

I.

Introduction
An automatic robot is a type of manipulated robotic system considered to be as

one of the earliest robotic systems on the basis of the control system it possesses. As
explained by Agarwal (2013). Automatic robots are divided into four main categories
based on their characteristics and applications. The manipulation robotic system is
classified into three types. Autonomous robots are mainly used in industrial areas;
whereas the remote controlled robots are used in environments that are restricted for
human beings. The manually controlled robots are widely used for handling goods and
also for transportation.
One of the biggest challenges in the world of robotics are the realization of
autonomous manipulation, and the act of intelligently interacting with the environment to
accomplish a task. To accomplish a manipulation task, a robot must have some
knowledge about the various objects in its environment and how its actions can affect
them. The moment this knowledge becomes available, the robot can deploy the
knowledge to determine a sequence of actions for achieving its objective.
In relation to the project, the proponents, which are Computer Engineering
students, opted to focus on the design and production of an improvised but highly
functional robot that can accomplish a given task which will not need to be manually
controlled by a user. The project focuses on the manipulation of objects, particularly

boxes, in warehouses and supplies storages using a microcontroller and line-following

sensor for the machines motion with the use of the Automatic Guided Vehicle (AGV)
technology which are most often used in industrial applications to move materials
around a manufacturing facility or warehouse.
The proponents came up with the (Automated Lifting Machine) to help
minimize manual workloads, specifically sorting and storing products and goods, in
warehouses and supplies storages. Initially, it takes a lot of work to manually manipulate
a machine (i.e., forklift) in order to place the boxes of goods and properly store them
one by one. There are remote controlled robots that can also accomplish this kind of
task, but it still needs the guidance of a human throughout the task. Thus, the
development of an automatic machine that can accomplish the said task. The machine
can automatically pick up a box from the conveyor, determine its classification, and
proceed to storing it in the proper shelf. The machine is able to navigate around the
warehouse by using a line-following sensor, in which the line is placed linearly on the
floor and by the shelves.
