Master Xavier is a man who has special powers. He is tall and thin, but he has great
strength. He can leap a great distance and over very high obstacles. However, he uses
these powers not for himself but to help those in distress.
One day, Master Xavier heard people crying and shouting urgently. Fire! Fire! He
leapt on his bike and sped off. The countryside flew past as Master Xavier raced to the
trouble spot. He stopped his bike and jumped off. A house was in flames and a crowd was
watching helplessly. Master Xavier looked into the fire with his X-ray eyes and saw a boy
crouching under his bed. He drew his cape around him and leapt into the burning house over
a high wall. He entered the bedroom and reached under the bed for the frightened boy. He
drew the cape over both of them and leapt out the house.
The crowd applauded as Master Xavier and the boy
emerged from the fire. Just then the fire engine arrived. Master
Xavier handed the boy to his parents. They thanked him but he
replied, Think nothing of it. It is my goal to help those in need.
Then he jumped on his bike. In the blink of an eye, he was gone.

The Meal
Timothy Tompkins had turnips and tea.
The turnips were tiny.
He ate at least three.
And then, for dessert,
He had onions and ice.
He liked them so much
That he ordered it twice.
He had two cups of ketchup, a prune and a pickle.
Delicious, said Timothy.
Well worth a nickel.
He folded his napkin
And hastened to add,
Its one of the loveliest breakfasts Ive had.
