To transparently handle the information regarding international
financial support received for subsequent reporting

Avoid double counting of reductions
Prioritize sectoral efforts
Identify and remedy methodological shortcomings
Identify need for both technical and financial support

What are the lines of work in Chile on MRV?

MRV Chile´s Voluntary Commitment
Presented in August 2010 at the UNFCCC
"Chile will implement nationally appropriate mitigation
actions so as to achieve a deviation of 20% below its rising
trend of emissions actions" business-as-usual "in 2020, as
projected from 2007"

To achieve this goal, Chile will require a significant level of
international support.
The energy efficiency measures, renewable energy
measures and land use, land use change and forestry are
the main focus of nationally appropriate mitigation actions
in Chile. "

MRV of sectoral NAMAs
• The Climate Change Office of the Ministry of Environment in October
2010 began a process of processing ideas and proposals for NAMAs
from major emitting sectors
• Chile was the first country to register a NAMA in the NAMA registry
• Chile currently has 4 registered NAMAs and a portfolio of initiatives in
sustainable transport, energy efficiency, sustainable construction,
among others.

• The Climate Change Office is leading a public NAMAs table to raise new
ideas for sectoral NAMAs, providing training in the field and technical
support to existing projects
