Q.1 (a) Find the value of ‘a’ when (x – 2 ) is a factor of the expression x + ax + 6x – 12 . [3]

(b) A manufacturer buys raw material for Rs 40000 and pays sales tax at the rate of 4%. He sells the

ready stock for Rs 78000 and charges sales tax at the rate of 7.5%. Find the VAT paid by the

manufacturer . [3]

(c) Simple interest on the certain sum of money for 4 years p.a exceeds the C.I on the same sum

for 3 years at 5% p.a by Rs 228. Find the sum. [4]

(b) ABC is a right angled triangle , ∠ B = 90 , AB = 28 cm and

A BC = 21 cm . With AC as diameter a semi-circle is drawn and with

BC as radius a quarter circle is drawn . Find the area of the shaded

region correct to two decimal places ( Take π = 3.14 ) [3]

image of the line P’ reflected in the y-axis. Write down the co-ordinates of P”. [3]

(b) Mr Khanna has a recurring deposit account in State Bank of India . He deposits Rs 500 per month

for a period of 4 years. If at the time of maturity he gets Rs 28410 , find the rate of interest . [3]

(c) The following table gives the daily wages of 50 workers of a factory : [4]

(b) Dona sold 400 , Rs 20 shares of a company paying 5% dividend art Rs 18 and invested the

proceeds in Rs 10 shares of another company paying 7% at Rs 12 . Find (i) the number of

shares she buys and (ii) change in her income [5]

Q.6 (a) Cards marked with numbers 2 to 101 are placed in a box and mixed thoroughly . One card is

drawn at random from this box . Find the probability that the number on the card is :

(i) an even number (ii) a perfect square (iii) a prime number less than 70 (iv) an odd number

(v) a number divisible by 9 [5]

(b) Some students planned a picnic . The budget for the food was Rs 480 . As 8 of them failed to

join the party , the cost of food for each member increased by Rs 10. Find how many students went

for the picnic. [5]

(b) Draw a circle of radius 3 cm whose centre is at a distance of 4.5 cm from a given line . Draw a

circle of radius 2.5cm which touches the given circle and the given line. [3]
