Please note that I do not work according to certain brands of thread - hence you will not find color
codes or brand names here - rather a description.
Machine stop colors are only there to make the machine stop to enable you to perform certain
tasks. You can thread any color suitable.

Possibilities for colors are endless for these hearts so there is no color chart as such, however here
are the colors I used while testing a 5x7 and a 4x4 heart so you have an idea about the number of
color changes and the stitch counts.

Method:
Pre-cut fabric as follows:

For the 5x7 heart

2 pieces 11 x 4 cm / 4.4 x1.6 in

From contrast color :

2 pieces 9 x 5 cm / 3.6 x 2 in

For the 4x4 heart

2 pieces 9 x 5 cm / 3.6 x 2 in nothing in contrast color.

5x7 Heart:

Very tightly hoop a piece of light weight fabric such as poly cotton or cheese cloth and stitch

st

2 colors.

Place a piece of thin batting over color 2 hold in place and stitch color 3. Remove hoop

from machine and trim away excess batting.

Stitch color 4 and place the piece of fabric you plan to stitch the initial onto over the just

created placement line hold and stitch down with color 5. Remove hoop from machine and

trim away excess fabric leaving a small seam allowance to all edges.

Stitch color 6 place a piece of fabric a little bigger than the just created placement line and

place on top hold and stitch in place with color 7. Remove hoop from machine an trim

away excess fabric all around leaving a 1 cm / 0.4 in seam allowance to all outer edges, a

smaller one of about 0,5 cm / 0.4 in to inner edges but cut as close as you can to the edges

with a narrow zigzag.

Repeat until 2 more pieces of fabric are placed ( stitching colors 8 up to 11)

st

Color 12 is the placement line for your 1

piece of pre-cut fabric. Place it wrong side facing

you and 1 longer edge just covering the placement line and with a small seam allowance to

each side:

Stitch color 13 fold fabric over and finger press. Repeat procedure with opposite side.

st

Stitch color 16 the placement line for your 1

piece of pre-cut fabric out of contrast color.

Place fabric as done before repeating procedure on the other side.

Remove hoop from machine and trim away the fabric behind the placed pieces to avoid bulk.

Stitch all decorative detail and the initial have a flat article ready or press fabric down with

fingers as the machine stitches to ensure that all fabric lays nice and flat.

Last color is next. Remove hoop from machine and place loop as shown secure with cello

tape. Place the fabric you are using for the backing wrong side facing you into the hoop, hold

in place as last color stitches.

Remove work from hoop and trim away excess fabric all around leave a small seam

allowance were you see the gap left by the last color stitched and also be careful around the

area were you placed the loop/ribbon dont cut it too close to the stitching line.

Turn inside out use a seam pusher for curves. Fill with stuffing and close the opening with

some slip stitches by hand.

Here is your pretty heart done!

5x7

4x4

The 4x4 heart is done in exactly the same way - just that you only will have to pre-cut 1 size

of fabric (2 pieces 9x5cm / 3.6x2 in)

Best wishes
