Preparation Pre-course bibliography All course participants receive a pre-course bibliography to refer to prior to the start
of the course.
Pre-course exploratory teaching project Teachers are invited to complete a brief self-observation task to encourage them to
focus on and analyse their own classroom performance in their own teaching situation
prior to the start of the course. Teachers are encouraged to submit these to the Course
Director at the start of the course in order to give the Course Director greater insight
into the teachers' backgrounds. This allows the Course Director to better anticipate
and meet the teachers' needs during the course. In addition, the task should give
teachers insight into areas of their own teaching practice.
Pre-course language test
Teachers complete a language test prior to the course to determine their level of
English. on arrival, prior to the start of their course, participants also have a brief oral
interview with a member of the College staff to determine the level of their spoken
English.
Objectives This course is aimed at practising, or recently qualified, teachers of English who wish
to update their knowledge of issues in teaching methodology, to encounter new ideas
and activities in order to enhance their classroom teaching, to share experience with
teachers from other countries.
Methodology Tutor-led input classroom sessions supported by in-depth discussion and trainee
participation. This is coupled with tutor-led project work which includes classroom
observation.
