Call for
IPSF internship at the Alliance for Health Promotion (A4HP), Geneva
About A4HP
The Alliance for Health Promotion (A4HP) was set up in 1997 at the
World Health Organization (WHO) Global Conference on Health
Promotion in Jakarta. It has evolved into an international NGO in OR
with WHO and enjoying ECOSOC Consultative Status. It will be
organising end of October its 4th Regional Workshop in Kenya, Africa
as well as the 5th International Forum on Health Promotion in
Geneva co-hosted by the Graduate Institute 16-17 November 2015.
The slogan of the Alliance is From local knowledge to health in all
policies. IPSF and FIP have been long-standing members of the
Alliance and are also represented on the Board.
A4HP Mission
To improve the health and development of all people by building a collective NGO voice and
strengthen advocacy, policy and action in the promotion and protection of health.
Duration of internship
Two months, starting as soon as possible but no later than 19 October. The intern will also
have the option of starting the internship online, but he/she must be on-site in Geneva by 19
October.
Description of internship
The intern will be involved in implementing the Activity Plan of the Alliance, specifically the
preparation of major meetings of the Alliance, namely:
The 4th A4HP Regional Workshop in Africa, end of October
The 5th Global Forum on Health Promotion in Geneva (16-17 November)
The Annual General Meeting, 16 November
Other tasks of the intern include:
To undertake research on the theme of the Global Forum
To help with project writing and fundraising
To develop an efficient communication mechanism both internally and externally
(branding)
To provide effective help with the Alliance internal and external communication
system involving the website, social media and newsletter.
To represent IPSF at the Alliance Board meetings
To participate at relevant international meetings at the UN WHO, the Graduate
Institute and others related to the Alliance activities taking place in Geneva during
the period of the internship.
To assist in preparing meetings of the Alliance and take notes

To assist in implementing an efficient membership drive

Requirements of the intern


Strong interest in public health, social determinants of health, sustainable
development, health in all policy, and other related topics
Fluent in written and spoken English (French is an added value)
Good information technology (IT) and internet skills
Excellent research, drafting and time management skills
Ability to work independently as well as in a multi-disciplinary team
Conditions
This is an unpaid internship. Please be aware of the cost of living in Geneva, as all travel
and living costs, including medical insurance, are at the responsibility of the intern.
The Alliance has no capacity to cope with the requirements of the Geneva authorities for
receiving interns without a Schengen visa.
Reporting and place of work
The intern will assist and be accountable to the Coordinator of the Alliance. He/she will be
working at the Office of the Alliance in Geneva, Villa Grand-Montfleury, Grand Montfleury 48,
CH-1290 Versoix.
