Six Sigma
The Six Sigma methodology is a modern and very rigorous approach to managing
organizations that aims to pursue excellence and that is based on the logic of TQM (Total Quality
Management) and continuous improvement. In a few words is a system that measures a process
in terms of defects found. Its name comes from "sigma", which is a symbol that the Greek used
in the world of statistics to indicate the extent of the variance of a process that is, the oscillation
of a parameter from the mean (standard deviation) and by "six "which is the maximum level of
quality attainable by applying this tool (more sigma there are, in fact, and the process is more
stable and less subject to the variance).
Six Sigma indicates that there are six standard deviations. A six sigma quality means
accuracy rates of 99.99966% convertible into no more than 3.4 defects per million items
products. Six Sigma is the methodology of problem solving more effective way to improve any
area of business and any performance. There is no industry in the world that cannot move
forward with the application of this methodology.
Six Sigma is constituted by a simple but rigorous process that can be successfully applied
to each individual project. It is based essentially on the correct analysis of the product, process or
service, the identification of defects and immediate intervention on it to remove or reduce them.
Then intervening in a targeted manner on all critical functions, the Six Sigma methodology can
achieve, quickly enough the improvements of the product, process or service necessary to satisfy
the customer that can directly verify the effectiveness. The action of the Six Sigma process is
conceived as a global intervention to the continuous improvement of the whole business system
and benefits both of effectiveness of efficiency.

The appropriate measurement indicators that allow for periodic monitoring of progress should be
prepared for this purpose so that individual projects can be continuously monitored. One of the
issues that organizations are facing when starting a project to mold Six Sigma is the lack of
careful planning. Often pursue the goal is fundamental and diverts attention from the fact that
you must throw bases that guarantee the success of the project in the near future or even more
remote.
Our focus should concentrate on the flow of information and interaction with customers
two critical factors if we want to strive for quality and efficiency in services. Working on these

Remember that at the base of each process are the views of the people, habits, decisions, often,
"belly". Analyzed these behaviors and try to change them. And 'certainly less easy to work in
such an environment rather than in a typical production, that's for sure, but you can get great
satisfaction from small improvements.
After been trained to use the tools and techniques of Six Sigma we would able to carry
out a thorough analysis of the processes and to properly utilize the techniques of problem solving
and transfer all this knowledge in our work environment. We should learn to identify and
eliminate processes that do not rely on a good ability of decision-making and standardize
processes that work well while reduce timelines and take the risk of big changes within those
processes that do not work well.
