90 year anniversary 2-4 October
Everyone in Plimmerton is invited to share in the three days of celebrations over the Friday,

updates!
Friday 2 October
A la carte dining at the club with serenading from musical entertainer Don Wilson.
Saturday 3 October
Buffet dinner with entertainment from The Hollywoods (who are all round singers and movers
like The Beat Girls). Buffet and show just $40, dinner from 6pm and show at 8pm.
Sunday 4 October
Water events from midday include kids’ dinghy race and Opening Day race (details on club site
soon). And there will be a power boat poker run … a fun event which is not a race but a day out
where participants collect cards from different locations and the winner is the person who ends
up with the best poker hand.
Ceremony for everyone at 2pm to be followed by a Chocolate Treasure Hunt and Dive.
Whittaker’s Chocolate are generously supporting this event where gold chocolate bars will be
hunted by kids in the sea and around the beach. Each numbered bar represents a prize! You

Plimmerton before 29th September 2015.
See all the details on https://www.facebook.com/popdARTporirua?fref=ts the Popd’ART

What happens when it’s finished? All the cans will be donated to KidsCanNZ and distributed to 9
recipient Porirua schools for families in need.

Local burglaries
Thanks to people who have replied offering advice and assistance with security cameras. We
now have a team working on finding the best solution for Plimmerton.
Unfortunately people have advised us of more robberies in the area … including the removal of
building materials and tools from two properties, homes as well as businesses are being
targeted.
We will keep you posted on the police investigation of these break-ins. And when talking to the
businesses that have been robbed the stress of the experience and the additional expense
incurred is apparent. Topor Bar and Bistro had to cancel a full house for its Wellington on a
Plate lunch on Saturday … a major loss. Then there’s the cost of beefing up security which is
not minor.

Puppy classes at Vet Smart … starting 8 September
If you are lucky enough to have a new pup then these classes will be just what you need. Ria, an
animal behaviourist, and Vet Smart vet nurses, will set you and your pup on the right path.
Call 233 1001.

Deadline for next newsletter Friday 18 September.
