Lesson aims:
At the end of the lesson, students will be able:
To give practice in using the prepositions of place;
To give practice in speaking about houses;
To give practice in using words related to the vocabulary

Assumed knowledge:
Students are familiar with the vocabulary related to the topic
Most of the students are able to listen for details
Anticipated problems:
Some students might have problems in pronouncing new words
Some students might have problems in using the prepositions of place in
sentences of their own
Some students might have problems in expressing their opinions
Time too short
Materials: text-book, activity- book, tape + tape recorder, cassette, blackboard + chalks,
poster, world map

Activity 1: Warmer
Aim:

To make students relax, motivate them for the lesson


To introduce the topic

Procedure:
1. T plays the song Come to my playroom! (tape script 21) from Lesson 3 Unit 2 and invites
Ss to sing along. T/S
2. T makes connections between the title of the song and the title of the new lesson. T/S

Activity 2: Speaking Practice


Aim:

To make Ss speak about the themes linked to the main topic

Procedure:
T asks Ss questions using the new vocabulary. T/S
T asks Ss to make up similar questions and to give answers. S/S
T announces the title of the lesson and writes it on the blackboard. T/S

Activity 3: Listening Practice


Aim:

To make Ss familiar with the new vocabulary

Procedure:
1. T pins up a poster related to the new vocabulary on the board. T/S
2. T plays the cassette and then let Ss sing the song from ex. 1, page 28. T/S

Activity 4: Speaking Practice


Aim:

To check comprehension

Procedure:
1. T reads the exchange and Ss listen and repeat chorally and individually. T/S
2. Ss, in pairs, act out similar exchanges. S/S
3. T checks round the class. T/S

Activity 5: Listening, Writing, Practice


Aim:

To make Ss understand the text

Procedure:
T goes through the pictures of the dialogue with the pupils and sets the scene by
asking questions concerning the text. T/S

T plays the cassette and Ss listen and complete the task. T/S

T plays the cassette again to check Ss pronunciation and intonation. T/S

Aim:

To check grammar: the prepositions of place: on, in under

Procedure:
1. T says and writes a sentence on the blackboard and explains the use of the prepositions
of place. T/S
2. T asks Ss to look at ex. 4, page 29 . T/S
3. Ss listen to the cassette and colour .

Aim:

To train Ss in understanding the new vocabulary items and the newly acquired
grammatical structure
