20to30degreesabovethehorizon.Thensuddenlyanotherhawkcomesand
attacksthefirsthawk,itleavesthebranchandtheotheronetakesitsplaceinthat
spotforabout15to30second,thenleaves:

Long Description of Sighting Report

I was filming Venus with a camcorder as it was rising in the East. At 5:48 AM,
while filming, an object appeared that did not look like a plane, helicopter, or
satellite. It did not move like any of these either. It appeared, while filming, just to
the left of Venus, and moving towards it at a slight descent. Then after about 10
second it disappeared before reaching Venus. I have worked in astronomy four
four years at the state observatory in Oregon. If I were to compare it to anything,
I would have to say it looked more like a natural satellite orbiting jupiter (through
a 2.5 inch refractor) than a star. One has to ask: "What is a natural satellite doing
appearing, moving towards venus, then disappearing? It looks to me, like light
reflected off a metallic surface.

Ifinditstrangetoseeaplaneflyingverticallyforsuchalongperiod(perhapsatrick
planecouldbriefly)butwithoutanairfoilduetohorizontalmotiontherecanbeno
lift.Verticalflightismoretypicalofarocket.ThiswasfilmedfromSouthern
California(Claremont)about40minutesinlandfromLosAngeles.Icouldn'tseeitin
thecamerabecauseofglare,soIhadtopointthecamerabestIcouldatwhatIwas
seeingwiththenakedeye.Thatiswhytheplaneisnotverywellcentered.This
