The Shanghai No. 1 Department Store (or
First Department Store) offers shoppers a
very different experience. It is an old building,
and most of the items for sale are Chinese,
not international.
The store opened in 1934. It was called The
Sun, and was one of just four big department
stores in Shanghai at the time.
