Purpose
The X04 module provides a basic end-to-end integrity monitoring for ADS-B
systems.

Brief Technical Description


The X04 module consists of following main parts:

Overvoltage protection (OVP SSR ES0130A00230).


EMC filter (EMCF ES0100A00553).
SQB02 electronic block (ELB SQB02 ES0110A00271).
SMA 40dB attenuator (ATT 6B-40).

Two LED indicators serve as a signalization of operating states and


conditions.

Power supply.

Data interface (bi-directional RS232 link).


Signal from GPS receiving antenna.
HF signal to transmitting antenna.

Warning: Input 3 (GPS antenna signal) is not protected against atmospheric


overvoltage. The input is permanently fed by direct current voltage of +5 V
(current of 50 mA max.). Short circuit on this input shall permanently damage
the GPS receiver of the X04 module.

Module Diagnostic
Operating states are indicated as follows:
The LED diode flashes the equipment is in an active state.
For a message with transmitted position, the light-on time is
250 ms and light-off time is 250 ms.
For a message without transmitted position, the light-on time
is 1 s and light-off time is 1 s.
The diode is not on the equipment is in an inactive state.
The diode lights constantly the equipment is in a failure.

The device is provided with an indication of its own faulty states (see
paragraph 7).

Disassembly

Remove connector shrink protections.


Disconnect the supply cable, antenna cable, GPS or data cable.
Disconnect the grounding cable.
Slacken the locking screw, see figure.
Eject the entire module upwards.
Remove the module from the cabinet.

Shift the module into the cabinet, suspend it in pertinent position.


Tighten the locking screw.
Connect the grounding cable.
Connect data or GPS cable, antenna cable and supply cable.
Mount connector shrink protections.
