Ode To Comp Time

9 April 1990
R. D. Parker

Fields of flowers sway and bloom in
golden sun,
Of summer’s drifting day and clear
unfettered sky.
While foxes hunt and show their kits
How time has brought survival skills.

But we are less enmeshed within an
ordained way.

The view that chance has paced the
fox’s way,
Does not today, nor any day,
Confer on us the right to say,
That our non-plan of needed hours
In some unknown mysterious way
Provide a claim to Comp Time pay!

In response to a dubious comp-time request
